Gus Steven Olliver is a former entertainment industry model, actor, dancer turned businessman, from Long Island, New York. He was introduced to the Christian faith in his early 20's during the upstart of what is now J.U.M.P. Ministries Global Church by longtime friend and spiritual father, Dr. Durone Hepburn and its early God, and people loving ministry group. In October of 2020, after three decades of life in the fast lane including multiple bouts with physical, spiritual, and mental health tragedies that nearly took his life and were seemingly uncurable, "Steven" found himself on his knees and desperately seeking The Lord, throughout the early stages of the Covid-19 Pandemic, during what looked like his final chapter. Then, Jesus stepped in and said I AM the author and the perfector of your faith, and completely delivered him from all ailments and called him into ministry, as was prophesied over him as a teenager. I have formatted the Devotional in a way that you can start reading it on any day that has special meaning to you.  It could be Your Birthday, Your Child’s Birthday, Your Baptism Day, Graduation Day, etc. For me, I might consider beginning my Devotional Journey on October 25th, the anniversary of the day I was gloriously delivered from death’s doorstep, by Grace for Grace forever.

The key to your having a meaningful experience will be that you read a new devotional the same day and time of every week for a year and reflect upon your interpretation each day until it is time for the next one. With this approach, you will find it easy to establish a specific time for daily prayer and meditation which is critical to having a healthy spiritual relationship with God and our journey through life.

Keep in mind that the Scripture reference(s) are the root of the devotion and act as the starting point for my reflection and to benefit spiritually it is important that you end each devotional with a daily prayer and a real conversation with our Maker and for me some journaling perhaps. Not all Spiritual Journeys will be the same. Some people prefer to journey alone, and some may prefer to do it in groups.  You may also choose to journal your personal Spiritual Devotions as they occur to you as mentioned to be able to reflect on later.

My goal in writing Exitus! Born To Be Boundless - is to offer you a guide and to help you grow closer to God through study and reflection and to experience the radical freedom that Christ Jesus died to give you and me! I hope your experience is beneficial and blessed. With Love…

WEEK 1

Understanding Will Never Bring You Peace

Proverbs 3:5-6

What’s it all about?? How many times have we asked ourselves this question or heard this request?? We as humans, especially in today’s modern tech world, have a more and more voracious appetite for knowledge!! In other words, we want to know everything! So, we ruminate and search our minds, and our web browsers, day in and day out, moment by moment, searching for THE answer(s)!!... why???

Why is the world obsessed with information??? Is it possibly driven by uncertainty and fear of the un-known?? Self-preservation?? Self-wealth?? Self-health?? Self-beauty?? Self-control?? Self-pleasure?? Self-mastery?? Wow!! That’s a lot of pressure on your-self!!! Does it all work out perfectly in the end?? Do we finally become masters of ourselves?? With all this insatiable knowledge?? Do we finally become masters of the universe??? Or, once we master one set of problems does another one seemingly pop up???

The world, our world, has a wicked way of doing that, doesn’t it?? A 2nd more powerful variant!? Really!? All that knowledge, time, money, effort, research, hope, blood, sweat and tears and… did we master it?? Or is this world just an endless series of problems? As soon as you or we master one, another one pops up to challenge us!? – Now what?

The relief we found was short-lived (shocker), or anticipated, with your mastery and failed to deliver (shocker)! So now what?? Now you have some wisdom!! What do most of us do?? We allow our minds to gear right back up again!! Searching for understanding (mastery)! Instead of seeking Jesus, God,… Our [real] Master!! It’s no wonder why we are all so stressed out, so exhausted, so busy, so overwhelmed, so anxious, so sick, so tired, so sick and tired!!

We are literally practicing insanity in its purest form!! Day in day out! Trying to out master our master! Not gonna happen folks!... but we keep trying… how insane have we all become?? Are we at peace?? Is the world at peace? With all this info, knowledge and worldly understanding which lead to our, or their, rules and regulations and masterful solutions?? Are you or we at perfect peace? Or chaos? Maybe, just maybe… are we looking in the wrong place(s)??

You see… even Solomon, the wisest of all men of all time could never ‘think’ his way through to peace! So, what in the world makes me, you or they think they can? Think we can master understanding which led him, just like me, to feelings of futility rather than feelings of fulfillment! OMG! Now what? Spiral?😦 Sadness? Depression? Addiction(s)? Lost my way? Brokenness? Recklessness? Bitterness? Resentment? Revenge? Anger? Hate? Rage? Worry?... etc.… who does that sound like? … got cha!! (😈 welcome to [my world]…) son of a!!... the good news is… God’s peace, since He is The Master of us and over Satan, is not an elusive goal, hidden in the center of some complicated maze!!

No knowledge needed! Only wisdom and awareness! Because actually we are always enveloped in peace! It’s within us! Not out there where [you know who] reigns… it’s been inherited from God Himself, inherent in His presence! As we look to Him! Only then, do we gain precious ☮ -> What’s in your wallet? God? Great! Now…Rest!! Your loaded!

Have you ever loved a brand of clothing that seemingly was high end? Or seemed aristocratic? Like Gucci or Versace or TAG or Rolex? Like brands designated for the upper crust? The royalty of society? Rolls Royce-ers!? As you idolized these things over the years and worked hard in life, as we all should, did you ever attain one or some of these things? Royal garments? Or items?

Man, oh man! How cool are you?? How, oh how do you, little Levittown kid, wearing a pair of Vidal Sassoon jeans! A Versace shirt! Feel?... What!? A Dolce & Gabbana suit!? Whaaaat!!?? OMG! I will wear these garments with such pride and love and swag because of how much they mean to me!

Look at what I was able to accomplish! Where I might be going, but never forgetting where I came from! And how hard I’ve had to work to get there! I will take the best possible care of these item(s) and never forget their value and worth to me, forever! Cherish it!😁 Sort of like my NY Giants jersey from Super Bowl XLVI 2012! I will wear that (very expensive) btw, jersey with ease, pride, and honor forever! Till I’m 100 years old! God willing of course!😁 It’s my robe of righteousness! Against the evil empire of Tom Brady and the (almost) LOL… undefeated New England Patriots! WOOOOT!!

With fanatical faith! It’s proof that miracles can and do happen folks!😮 And I am damn proud of it! Go Big Blue!! Sorry, I digress… So… isn’t it kind of crazy just how faithful, die hard and un-believably fan- atic-al we can be and become for a fashion designer or a sports franchise or a model of car or stock or watch? Who are total strangers to us? Yet we would practically kill or die for them??!! Fight the enemy fan to the death over our team or our brand?! Wear our jersey or hat with total and utter pride and w/o fear, and total ease
