Your Exit

About this ebook
How often have you thought to yourself that there has to be more, and that at this point in your life it may be time to discover what that something else is?
None of us are getting any younger, and perhaps for some it is time to make that change…that Exit…from the current day to day.
This book provides some insight into what an Exit is all about and what it may look like, written by someone who has himself just taken an Exit and moved overseas. It is not about "bucket list" trips, but in fact living your bucket list, at an age where you can still enjoy doing so.
The focus is not just the Exit itself, but also how a move overseas might shape up. Becoming an expatriate, especially on your own at your cost and without HR support, can be difficult, but certainly far from impossible.
Take control of your life, and make that change you have always thought about!!

Introduction
I am sure you have wondered, as we all have, what it would be like to step away from your job, which I am willing to bet is far more than a simple eight hour a day, 9-5 type of endeavor, and start living your life more on your own terms at this point in your life. For a variety of reasons, that may not be possible.... but what if it was? What if you had the means to do so, be it through the nest egg you have accumulated over the years, the ability to work remotely from just about anywhere, a good side hustle gig that grew into something much more, a nice commission or bonus that just came your way, or just the need for a reset. Whatever the case may be what if you could Exit your current life path and guide it in a different direction?
For now, put the financial part of the equation aside, as critical as it may be to what you ultimately decide to do at this stage in your career and your life, and start thinking through what would be needed to make this move, this Exit, happen. There is a tremendous amount to consider when considering this decision, much more than just finances. This book will help you identify and possibly think through some of these issues and hopefully provide you some insightful thoughts and guidance based on real life experiences to help you process and understand a number of those subjects that are rather important in making this life changing decision, and moving forward.
An Exit does not have to entail an overseas move, and clearly remaining in the United States is a great option for many. Staying in the friendly confines of the United States is rather simpler than undertaking an overseas move as part of your Exit, although clearly there are still challenges in doing so. As there are more potential difficulties when moving abroad, this book does go into a little more detail as to what those considerations would be for an overseas move, although some of the subjects discussed do clearly resonate for those opting to stay in the United States as well. Even if you are not making a formal Exit, but are looking at moving overseas, for a new job or current one, this book can certainly provide you with a number of things to consider.
This is not a book about getting rich quick, nor is it a best places to live overseas list or how to retire on $1500 a month. It is about what you need to really think through prior to making that Exit jump, and certainly before you decide to leave the United States and head overseas for a few years, on your own account. Although quite a bit of what may follow will have some appeal to many considering a domestic Exit, the challenges and cost ultimately associated with an overseas move do tend to be much greater, which, as noted before, is why more of the discussion in this book focuses on those issues. I hope that this will give you plenty to deliberate in regards to your Exit, and I certainly wish you the best of luck in choosing the path that best fits you.
