I barely hold it together on my way home. Once I’m in the house, I race upstairs to my room, plonk down on my bed, and let the tears come pouring out.

Partway through my body-shaking, chest-heaving, zombie-groaning ugly cry, Keith widens the gap in my door and hurries into my room. He sits beside me, pulling me into a sideways hug.
