Something New
At first, I thought I’d regenerated on the wrong planet.
I should have arrived just in time for the Red Festival, if not a few centuries early. I’d been looking forward to the months-long parties where blood and wine flowed in equal measure—the nights spent lying in the grass with old lovers, and lovers so forgotten as to be new. I’d wanted to dance beneath the Milky Way, on the surface of old Mars, and feel the teeth of other humans sink into my latest flesh.
But when I woke up, nobody was there.
I was indeed in the Meadow’s Corner Regeneration Center, in the heart of old Dime Town,
