THE MOUNTAIN
Upon the icy mountain's towering crown,
A solemn tale of change begins to drown.
Once pristine white, now tainted by despair,
As climate's wrath unleashes a solemn air.
Glacial rivers weep as warmth descends,
Their frozen tears a warning that portends.
Majestic peaks, once untouched by time,
Now bear the scars of an unforgiving clime.
A symphony of melting echoes through the air,
As icebergs break and fall with mournful flair,
Ancient glaciers crumble, ancient stories fade,
Nature's masterpiece, by warming, betrayed.
Invisible hands of heat reach high and wide,
A force that alters destinies, none can hide.
Polar winds whisper tales of dire consequence,
As frozen realms succumb to their last defense.
Yet, amid this tragedy, hope can still arise,
If humankind awakens, opens its eyes,
To mend the damage and forge a new start,
To save the ice mountain, to heal its heart.

Yet he knew that below the placid surface, alarming changes were afoot. As a glaciologist, he had dedicated his career to studying the rapid melt rates of Greenland's ice cap. Core samples showed that glacial retreat was accelerating faster than climate models predicted. The melting ice could raise sea
