The First Book - Mirza Nabeel Baig
Homelessness:
The first topic I want to address is Homelessness. I will briefly explain the predicament. There are not enough houses as there are humans. I want to challenge this system. The system should be made in a way where it recognizes that it is a basic human dignity (need) that he/ she/ them need a house to live in. I can understand the need to keeping competition in the system, but no one should be left on the streets to live.
I understand that mental health, drugs, and degradation of a family unit are all important factors when considering a solution to the homelessness, but people use these things to complicate the issue also. The result is that there are almost 3 homeless people dying on streets every week (in Toronto). If you look at this issue globally, the numbers are much higher.
The solution is simple and can be implemented with some tweaks in every major city of the World. I will explain it with an example of Vancouver.
There are almost 7000 homeless people in Vancouver. If we buy a land of $20 mil in the suburbs of Vancouver and place modular homes/ 3D printed homes on it then the total cost would be close to $50 mil.
1 3D printed house, good enough for one person to live in, cost $4000. Thus, the total housing cost would be 4000 x 7000 = $28 mil. Add $2 mil contingency and $20 mil land price. In $50 mil, the problem of Vancouver homelessness is solved. Now give mental health help, skills training, and job placement all can be given to these homeless people who live in a small town. Now they have hope to get their lives back. Crime rates from the cities will drop.
Canadian government has allocated $70 BILLION to solve this problem and since then homelessness in Canada grew by over 25%. Things are not adding up to me.
Anyways, the following is my effort to create awareness on this issue. I gathered notable people to form a team, reached out to many personalities, organizations etc.

Hi Emily,
Thank you so much for agreeing to meet me. June 1st works perfectly fine for me and sorry for a long read.
I just underwent a kidney stone surgery, and this ‘hospital’ experience raised many questions in my head about my mortality. I hope you know that for over a year I have been trying to volunteer/ work in the homelessness domain. Not undermining the associations, I have worked with and the work I did, I think I can deliver more and need your support and guidance in achieving this.
I have a strong gut feeling that I can cause a serious dent in the problem of homelessness, if not eliminate it. I have the right education, skills, passion, empathy, and drive to work for our neglected population. My lived experience showed me that no one deserve to live a life of despair and helplessness. Every human needs a second chance at life.
I want you (and/ or people in your social circle) to enable me to run a media campaign on homelessness. In my view, the problem is the thinking of a common person towards homeless people. There is a way to make people change their views and shrug old beliefs. We just need to touch that nerve in them. That’s why I am requesting that please set aside some budget for this initiative and allow me to design and execute any such media campaign.
I understand that government is setting aside billions of dollars to curb this problem and I am positive that any such media campaign will help government on all their initiatives. I just need fraction of the resources already being put on this issue and have creative ideas and execution strategies to make it a reality.
Below is a short list of my qualifications which speak to my ability to conduct this project,
Bachelors in engineering (Petroleum)
Masters in engineering (Petroleum)
Masters in business administration, MBA
Project Management Professional, PMP
PROSCI® Certified Change Practitioner – (as we need a change in our society)
Organizational Transformation from Project Management Institute (PMI) – (as we need to transform our thinking and societies)
Strategic Thinking of a CXO from Cambridge University – (as we need creative, cost effective and successful strategies to reduce homelessness)
Lived experience of chronic homelessness in Vancouver, Toronto, and Ottawa
Experience of working with many leading multinationals including Big 4
Emily, I talk to many homeless people in my city and my heart bleeds when I hear their life stories and the way society treats them. Please help me out and use myself. I do not know how much time I am left with. This battle is neither short nor easy.
Please feel free to forward my message to anyone and invite them to our meeting.
Regards,
WhatsApp Group of Eliminating Homelessness:
I gathered people from different walks of life and created a WhatsApp group for them to stay in touch. Because of some reasons this group got dismantled without changing lives of a single person. But this experience taught me many things which I was able to use in my subsequent efforts.
Also, there were some people who played a negative role. We have all the records and soon the World will know their true face. As I have written this before that God’s Judgement is near!
Eliminating Homelessness (Core Group)
Hello Everyone,
I want to thank all of you for becoming a part of this noble mission. As this group will evolve you will see the value it will create for all of us. I promise you that this ride will be fun, intellectual, and transformative. I also promise that when this journey will end, you all would have changed your worlds. Cheers!
Our mission is to eliminate homelessness by using creative and out of box thinking. We will change the perceptions of common people towards this problem and make them our allies in this noble cause.
The group rules are simple,
Introductions:
Hello Everyone,
In the name of Almighty, let’s start the work on this noble cause!
Before starting I would like to update the group on the following,
So, the idea is to share the intellect and learn from everyone. For this week, our topic of discussion would be ‘Marketing’. I would encourage all of you to participate (at your convenience), be creative, and push yourself to think ‘out of the box’ for all the discussions we will have on this platform.
Question: What is Marketing? How it can be used to eliminate homelessness? What should be the best marketing strategy in our current capacity (low cash and low awareness) to achieve maximum possible results?
End date for the ideas on this specific topic is 19 June 2022. Also remember that ‘intellect’ is the only thing in the world which grows when shared!
Hi please welcome Fahad Ali to the team.

Reply to Raza:
Bro, I 100% agree with you. This platform of WhatsApp is not the best for this kind of work but at this moment we must make use of what we have.

Q : What is marketing?
In the crudest form, marketing is delivery of a ‘message’ to ‘someone’ in a way that the person is encouraged to act on the ‘call to action’.
Thus, for marketing to exist we need a message, a recipient, and a call to action (most people miss the call-to-action).
