Introduction

Aman cannot get to where God is taking him unless he learns from the experiences of those who have gone ahead of him.

That, beloved, is the reason the Bible presents us with various characters from whose lives we can glean knowledge to equip ourselves for our spiritual growth and nourishment and a better walk with God.

Joseph is one of those characters. God’s plan for him was set in motion when his brothers sold him to the Midianites as a slave (Genesis 37:28). His life and experiences are full of lessons from which we can draw strength and wisdom to help us to deal with the challenges and affairs of our daily lives.

Sometimes, people will not treat you fairly, but the truth is that it can be for your good at the end of the day. People may disappoint you, but it may be engineered by God to bring to pass His good plan for your life.

These and many more are the lessons we are going to learn from the life of the young man, Joseph. It is important you understand that there is nothing you are going through, or about to go through in life that others have not gone through already.

That is the reason the Spirit of God led His servant Solomon to pen this in his days:

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 1:9

If there is nothing new under the sun, then we need knowledge and insight from the things that have previously happened in order for us to know how to handle them when they come our way.

LESSON ONE

Bad experiences in life

CANNOT limit you if you do not limit yourself

– Genesis 37:18-36 –

The first lesson we can learn from the life of Joseph is that no matter what life deals to a man, he can still make it to his destined place in God.

We all go through various challenges in life. We must understand that despite those challenges, no matter what they may be, we can still rise to our full potential and destiny in God.

Joseph suffered many things as he trod the path toward his destiny. His blood brothers sold him into slavery. His challenges in life started at this stage. Imagine the betrayal he must have felt.

Through their actions, they robbed him of the love and care of his parents, something he deserved. If you have been in such a situation before, you can tell how devastating that can be to a person.

But that did not prevent Joseph from reaching his destiny. He became the very person God wanted him to be. This proves that despite the challenges we may go through in life, we still can shoot up. Joseph’s life undoubtedly makes it crystal clear that hurdles are not hindrances.

You will encounter many hurdles in your quest to manifest the dream God has given you. But one thing you must remember is that a man is limited only when he allows himself to be. Distractions will come in every form and shape, and at times from sources you least expected.

The issues of this world will try to distract you, but never forget that how you respond will determine whether or not you will get to your destination. There are mountains you would have to climb and valleys for you to descend at different levels of the journey. You will walk through fire but do not allow it to limit you.

Limitations come from self, not circumstances. People will hurt you, but do not let it affect your strength or limit your potential. You are built to outlast any storm that will come against you. I cannot imagine all the things Joseph had to endure for the dreams God gave him to come to pass. But unlike him, there are people with great dreams that unfortunately never materialized.

There are ministries that were not birthed because the carriers allowed the things they encountered on their journey to distract and dictate to them. People have allowed the storms of life to bury their dreams and destinies. Do not be like them.

Do not allow yourself to be limited in any way. Do not allow the things that happen to you prevent you from reaching your goal and impacting destinies.
