Second Chance - Daisy Landish
Prologue
Penelope Taylor was not your average seventeen-year-old. She had big dreams for someone so young. For as long as she could remember, she had dreamt of being a model and of travelling the world, imagining herself working with the world's most prestigious designers and visiting the world's fashion capitals like Paris and Milan. Night after night, she would dream of swanning down the catwalk in haute couture.
She certainly had the potential for it. Penelope was tall, slender, with long black silky hair that fell down her back in soft curls. She walked with the elegance and gait of a catwalk model, being one of those sickening people who can eat what they wanted and stay a natural size 4 without even trying.
Penelope’s taste in fashion often set trends at her college in Bristol. All the girls wanted to dress like her and often went to her for fashion advice.
She wasn't all looks, though; she had a great mind and a thirst for knowledge. Her passion was fashion; she loved to know all the inner workings of the fashion world and often designed and made her own outfits. Her college had a roster of fashion-loving students with just as much interest in the industry and talent as Penelope. But Penelope was resilient and fought tooth and nail to get consistently top marks. There was something about her character that set her apart as someone who would succeed.
She didn’t just dream about being a model; she wasn’t that short-sighted. She had it all planned out. She would study Fashion and Textiles at Oxford’s Art & Design School while her boyfriend, Anthony, would study Law at the university there. They would then marry, have kids, and live happily ever after.
That was the plan.

Anthony Davies was not quite eighteen and he was ambitious. His ambition was a trait that he had inherited from his father and grandfather. He had dreams and aspirations instilled into him from the first moments he was old enough to read and write.
There is a big wide world out there, plenty to explore, learn, and do. You don’t want to stay in one place all your life. Spread your wings, fly and live the adventure that is life,
his American father would often say when Anthony was a child.
The Davies family frequently moved around. Anthony hadn’t been able to recall living anywhere longer than 3 years. Like an army brat, except he was a diplomatic brat. Bristol was the longest time he’d lived anywhere and Anthony had gotten to like it. It was a beautiful city with plenty to see and do.
Anthony had also been blessed with his father’s good looks; he was as handsome as they come and often had a swarm of girls vying for his affections. His American accent made him stand out among Bristolians, giving him a certain exotic quality that made him even more desirable. Though he was half-British, it was his American side that the girls loved most.
