Tales of Lord Krishna - Manjappa W
STORY 1: THE BUTTER THIEF
ONCE UPON A TIME, IN THE CHARMING VILLAGE
OF VRINDAVAN, THERE LIVED A MISCHIEVOUS
LITTLE BOY NAMED KRISHNA. KRISHNA WAS
KNOWN FOR HIS LOVE OF BUTTER, AND HE WOULD
OFTEN SNEAK INTO THE HOUSES OF HIS
NEIGHBORS TO STEAL IT.
ONE SUNNY MORNING, AS THE VILLAGERS
CHURNED BUTTER AND PREPARED TO SELL IT AT
THE MARKET, KRISHNA AND HIS FRIENDS DEVISED
A PLAN. THEY GATHERED OUTSIDE A HOUSE
WHERE BUTTER WAS BEING CHURNED, AND
KRISHNA SAID, "I HAVE AN IDEA! LET'S FORM A HUMAN PYRAMID. I'LL CLIMB TO THE TOP, AND
YOU CAN PASS THE BUTTER DOWN TO ME."
THE CHILDREN FORMED A PYRAMID, WITH
KRISHNA AT THE TOP. THEY SUCCESSFULLY
PASSED DOWN JARS OF BUTTER, AND KRISHNA'S
EYES SPARKLED WITH DELIGHT. BUT AS THEY
WERE ALMOST DONE, THE PYRAMID WOBBLED, AND KRISHNA TUMBLED TO THE GROUND, CAUSING A GREAT COMMOTION.
HEARING THE NOISE, THE HOUSE OWNER RUSHED
OUTSIDE, ONLY TO FIND KRISHNA COVERED IN
BUTTER. INSTEAD OF SCOLDING HIM, SHE
LAUGHED AND SAID, "OH, KRISHNA, YOU ARE
TRULY THE BUTTER THIEF! TAKE AS MUCH AS YOU
WANT, BUT PLEASE DON'T MAKE SUCH A MESS."
KRISHNA'S CHARMING SMILE WON EVERYONE'S
HEART, AND HE LEARNED THAT LOVE AND
INNOCENCE COULD CONQUER EVEN MISCHIEVOUS
DEEDS.
