    Introduction

Darkness always comes before the light in our daily lives, how can we reach the light if we don’t know the way out. It is the constant battle every day to find the inner peace and tranquility the hearts want. To be rid of this constant nightmare, the battle of life, to survive and reach peace.

Get out, now! I will hold them back but you have to get going and don’t look back just keep going I will catch up to you later!

And the gunfire was heard all over the countryside as the five orphans ran across the street hearing the zing of the bullets roaring by them. They ran with all their might because they knew that the American soldier who was covering their move might not be there tomorrow to help them. The friend who they meet in the ashes of war and has been looking after them. The smell of gunpowder was a constant reminder of how life is on this part of the world.

Keep going don’t stop now, screamed David the leader of the pack. He was 12 years old and has seen so many people die, that the only thing that would keep him going was to help those less fortunate. He led Isaac 8 years old, Ambrose 7, Mary 7 and Timothy6 years old. They had all lost their family in this forsaken war. They lived day by day, sometimes they ate, sometimes they went to sleep crying because they were to hungry. The most important thing to them was to survive.

David kept them safe for the last six months, but as the war escalated it became a harder task than he anticipated. They continued to run until they were so far away they could barely hear the gunfire, the next thing on David’s mind was to find food and shelter. The smaller kids were tired and they were scared but David always knew what to say to keep them calm. Don’t worry we are safe now, we need to walk to the end of the street where we will look for food and where to hide, said David. Life is the most precious thing. Most of us take it for granted, and only when the moments come to survive or die is when most start taking thing serious. Many children can play, go to school and learn, these kids in the war zone only have time to find their next meal and move away from the gunfire to survive.

SSG Ruiz got out of the gunfight and was now approaching the other end of town, when suddenly he heard a noise, Psst, psst, psst, we are over here, he herd in a very low voice. As he approached and saw all the children he smiled, those five little survivors can run. David approached him and said, Thank you very much for saving us, we know you are an American soldier and we are grateful for your help getting us out of that place. we also know you’re not going to be here forever so we also need to learn how to survive in this country because this is our home.

We are hungry and on the other side of the valley there is a large sheep herd, said David. Will you come with us? asked David Yes, I will, responded SSG Ruiz. "I know I am not going to be here forever, but as
