50 COACHING TIPS
TIP 1 - WHAT IS EXPECTED OF A COACH AT THIS AGE GROUP.
For the age group that we are focussing on for this book (children aged 3 to 6), chances are you are a beginner coach, volunteer or parent. The club or school of the team that you are coaching won’t expect you to be a professional player or have soccer coaching qualifications.
You will most likely be someone who is helping out your local club or school by coaching your child's team and may never have played the game yourself.
So if you’re worried about not being a good enough coach please keep this in mind:
The children you are coaching don’t make a distinction between an experienced, professional coach
or a volunteer coach.
They just want to play and enjoy their soccer!
If you keep that at the forefront of your mind, everything else will fall into place. You can have a profound effect on how the children develop and enjoy soccer, other physical activities and life in general.
All that is expected of you is to have a positive attitude, give it your best, encourage the children, be prepared to act silly, have some patience, but most importantly make sure the kids have FUN!
So some key point to remember are:
● Teach them basic soccer skills (passing, dribbling, shooting) that will help them if they decide to keep playing in future years.
● The kids are there to make friends as well as play soccer.
● Don’t expect to win all your games. The children won’t remember two weeks later, so try and enjoy the ride of being a kids soccer coach!
● Make sure the kids have fun.

TIP 2 - MAKE TRAINING FUN.
At this age, most children are coming along to try the sport. It may be their parents' idea to try soccer or their friend from up the street plays so they want to try it too.
So different kids will show different levels of enthusiasm and commitment. Your job is to make the training sessions and games fun and keep them excited. How do you do this? See the next tip...

TIP 3 - HOW TO ENCOURAGE KIDS AND MAKE SOCCER FUN!
Make sure that you do things such as use encouraging words, smile, give out lots of high fives (kids loveeee high fives - or
