About this ebook

Celebrate a year with two Christmases with Mistletoe Mouse, Molly Dolly, residents of the North Pole, and the wacky Imaginary World when they work to make the Real World a safer place for boys and girls.

Santa learns that you can’t please everyone after he receives a letter asking for body armor for classmates and a teacher and follows through with this request and much more in time for Christmas in July. When he disappears and everyone is searching for him, Molly Dolly prays for angels from the Heavenly World to protect him as she, the four dollies, and their fairy godmothers go on a musical tour.

Only Junior Elf and Professor Huff N. Puff share creative ideas that interrupt the violence in the real world as they try to invent something that will put a stop to it.

Sequel to The Melodious Adventures of Molly Dolly, The Meritorious Adventures of Molly Dolly, and The Collected Misadventures of Mistletoe Mouse.

The Miraculous Adventures of Molly Dolly - Susan Bourrie

    Chapter One

    Who Needs Santa?

Several years ago, Mistletoe Mouse found Molly Dolly alone in Santa’s workshop the day after Christmas. The elves didn’t have her ready to go on Santa’s sleigh with the other dolls and toys. She was crying an avalanche of snowflake tears until Mistletoe Mouse gave her the friendship she needed.

Molly Dolly was ready to go on Santa’s sleigh the following year, but Mistletoe Mouse loved her so much that he gave her a kiss before Santa took her down the chimney and put her under a little girl’s tree. That kiss filled Molly Dolly with the spirit of Christmas that returned to the North Pole before Santa and Mistletoe Mouse did.

Just one year ago, four new dolls were made for little girls from around the world. All of the dolls including Molly Dolly had different colored hair, eyes, and skin. They all looked beautiful to Mistletoe Mouse. He loved the four new dolls so much that he kissed them before Santa took them down chimneys too. The North Pole now had five dollies who were filled with the spirit of Christmas and who would work together to make terrible Christmases and terrible times terrific.

Unfortunately, the terrible times were getting more terrible. There were so many wars and so many shootings in many schools and cities that a little girl sent a letter to Santa asking him for body armor for her classmates and teachers. That was after she saw a girl her age who lived in a war zone modeling body armor on TV. Everyone at the North Pole worked very hard to give the little girl what she requested, much sooner than she ever would have imagined.

This year, July 25th was a very exciting day at the North Pole and around the Real World as Santa delivered protective gear to every boy and girl while stores were celebrating Christmas in July. He and Mistletoe Mouse were not back by the time Molly Dolly, Golly Dolly, Jolly Dolly, Lolly Dolly, and Polly Dolly took their seats in the workshop and prepared for another day of making terrible times terrific.

Junior Elf, Grandpa Elf, and Head Elf were already busy. Junior Elf was thinking like a scientist. Grandpa Elf was writing the title of his latest book on a blank sheet of paper. Head Elf was straightening everything on Mistletoe Mouse’s desk and around his typewriter. Everyone was busy except Alexa, who impatiently waited for orders. She would give the others anything they wanted— the weather report, the news, a joke, or a song. Most of the time she gave them what they wanted, but some of the time her intelligence was defective. She gave the scores for a basketball game instead of a football game. She gave the weather report for a different city. Then she started playing songs she thought everyone would like instead of the one that was chosen. This morning Alexa was so bored that her blue light started to circle around and around. Then without anyone giving a command, she started playing a very lively song.

Grandpa Elf sat up in his chair next to the Christmas tree and exclaimed, "Why, that’s ‘The

Teddy Bears’ Picnic.’ I haven’t heard that since I was a little tyke." He was delighted, as was everyone else in the workshop—everyone except Molly Dolly.

It looks like Alexa has been updated, she said. Now she has Artificial Intelligence that’s making decisions for us.

Alexa, why did you play this song?
