1. Getting Ready
I knocked on the door of 12C at Starwood Park Apartments. Mrs. Alvarez handed me two beach chairs.
Are you excited about your trip, Freddie?
she asked.
Yes!
This was going to be my first time at the beach. I wanted to see the waves and the sand. Maybe even a whale! The ocean has amazing creatures.
I zoomed back to my apartment, 29G, to find Mom waiting for me.

Mom held up one finger. Mrs. Hong in 10B says we can borrow her beach umbrella.
No hay problema. I’ll be back in a blink.
Nothing takes long when you have super speed with Zapato Power shoes. I touched a button on my special wristband and took off.
Mrs. Hong was happy to share the umbrella. Friends at Starwood Park like to help each other. Our neighbors in 28G would be taking care of my guinea pig while we were gone too.

Back at 29G, I found my friend Mr. Vaslov at my door.
Hey, Freddie!
he said. Are you ready for your big trip?
I am,
I told Mr. Vaslov. Mom is still packing.
I have something for you.
Mr. Vaslov held up my Zapato Power snowshoes. I hadn’t seen them since the last snowstorm, when I used them to clear the sidewalks of snow. They looked like mini-sleds and snapped onto the bottoms of my special sneakers.
