As I grew up in one of the most dangerous cities in United States (New Orleans), I found contentment in writing. My quiet demeanor but useful capabilities allowed me to escape the violence and chaos around me. I didn’t involve myself in the troubles of the world; therefore, I stayed under the radar. I began writing in high school, where I found freedom by putting my thoughts on paper. I was able to compress my feelings and emotions in a constructive manner while engaging readers into my world. My lifetime dream was to publish books. My dreams were put on hold due to motherhood. I dedicated my life to my two children and ensured their every need was met first. One day, I couldn’t sleep. I sat and reflected on my life and felt something was missing. I was the sole provider for my children with a major void in my heart. It came to me after reading my daily horoscope: “Be creative and write your thoughts down.” I went out, purchased a new laptop, and the writing began! This book is like another child to me. I have put my heart and soul into it from birth. It has been fed, bred, and loved. This will be the first of many for me. I hope everyone enjoys the feelings they get from my firstborn book.

Chapter 1

It was one of those mornings for Sasha Morgan. After a long workweek, she just wanted to stay in bed and relax. However, being a single mother of two, that was not likely. If I could just lay here for a few more minutes, maybe it will turn into the weekend. She smiles to herself and says get your ass up now. Sasha kissed her three-year-old daughter on the cheek before dragging herself out of bed. After she had finished brushing her teeth and washing her face, she came out of the bathroom to see her daughter Meagan just stretch out all over the bed. She just smiles because Austin the dog was lying across Meagan legs as if it was their bed and she only visit from time to time. Sasha made her way to the kitchen so she could prepare breakfast for her fourteen-year-old son Mason. While in the kitchen cooking bacon and eggs, and thinking about her children, Sasha realized how White their names sounded. Meagan and Mason, those were not typical names for Black children. Some people were not happy with the names she had chosen for her children however Sasha figured she would give them a head start in life. In the world we live in, it is already said that Black people were born with one strike against them simply because of the color of their skin. Sasha figured when it was time for job interviews at least her children’s resume’s would not be tossed to the side because their names were easily associated with their race. With names like Meagan and Mason companies are likely to call them in to interview thinking that they are White. I know in a way that is harsh but it is true.

Sasha always got tease because of her name and the brightness of her skin. She spent most of her time living between her grandmothers who lived maybe two miles apart. It was one of the worst public housing developments in the state. She was always called red, light bright and her least favorite white girl. So, she started acting like one. She did not pick up the things the other girls were doing in the projects. Sasha stayed to herself; she spent most of her time in the house reading and playing educational games. The housing development Sasha grew-up in was infested with drugs and guns. There were daily fight’s that often ended with shots being fire. Despite the drama and chaos Sasha witnessed as a child, she promised herself that her children would have a different experience.

Sasha managed to get Mason up and dropped him off at the bus stop. Her mom who also shared the apartment with Sasha and her kids got Meagan up and ready. Once they both are ready Sasha takes Meagan to school and off to works she goes. This had been her routine for months now they had just moved to Cedar Hill Texas. She’s not sure how long they are going to be there. Mason doesn’t like the schools at all, Meagan doesn’t care and her mom is missing Maryland. As far as Sasha is concern right now she is on the band wagon with her son. She doesn’t like it either, but for right now they have to make it work because she signed a lease for nine months.

Her commute to work should be a thirty-minute drive, however, due to heavy traffic it takes about an hour. Having to be in the car for at least an hour to go anywhere is just another strike against Texas. Sasha normally listens to the Steve Harvey Morning Show and laughs all the way to work, however today was different. She spent her time reflecting on her life and questioning how she ended up being a single mother of two beautiful children with different fathers. Although, thankful for her children, this was not the life she envisioned for herself or her children. As a teen and young adult she often reminisced about the future she wanted for herself. Sasha always saw herself as a wife and mother. She never expected to be on this journey alone; She always planned on having someone to share the joy and challenges that come with parenting.

Chapter 2

Sasha tried to figure out what went wrong with Mason’s father. He is a good man he gave her anything she wanted, however, she felt he never trusted her from day one. When Sasha met Mason she was out at a club one night. She had just had a bad break up with her boyfriend so she decided to move to another part of the state. Sasha moved in with her friend Beth, her husband and their son. Mason and Sasha became the best of friends; they enjoyed each other’s company. They went to the movies, out to dinner, and just hung out. Sasha knew Mason wanted more, however, she was not ready for anything serious. Months went by and they continued to just hang out. Times had gotten hard for Sasha when Beth and her husband separated. Although, Sasha worked two jobs she could not afford a place of her own. So, when Mason offered to let Sasha moved in with him and his roommate she couldn’t refuse. It was either take him up on his offer or go back to her mom’s house. Mason gave her his room and he moved into the living room. Only a few weeks had passed before Sasha and Mason were sharing his bed. Sasha was not surprised about how quickly things progressed, she expected it was all part of the plan. Out of respect she never went out on dates with anyone while living in Mason’s home. She was appreciative and did not want to further complicate things by dating someone while living with him. This allows them to get closer; life was good they were happy. Sasha could remember the first time they ever kissed. Mason had taken her out to dinner and then for a late-night walk by a riverbank. The moon was out, the stars were shining brightly, the wind was blowing but it was not cold, the night was perfect. They were talking and laughing. Sasha always did think Mason had a wonderful smile, she wondered why he didn’t smile more. She was talking when he just took two steps up to her and just kissed her. Sasha heart dropped and her body tingling sensations all over, her breast nipples hardened and her clit had awakened.

Chapter 3

Sasha was at work one day not feeling to well so she decided to go home. Mason was not home yet so she figured she would get a head start on dinner and have it prepared before he gets home. She ate most of the food as she was cooking by the time Mason made it home there was only enough food for one serving. Mason found Sasha in bed sleeping. Mason let her sleep. She slept until 2am when she awoke all she wanted to do was to eat. Mason got up while she was in the kitchen standing there laughing at her. He told her she is acting like she is eating for two. She just laughed and told him to bring his ass back to bed. Sasha thought about that all night. Mason words made her wonder when was the last time she seen her period. She could not remember. The next morning, Mason went to work and Sasha decided to stay home again. Before she became too comfortable she went to the store to get a pregnancy kit. When she arrives she went into the bathroom to take, while waiting for her results she decided to get something to eat.

When she looked at the results of the test she was shocked and happy at the same time. Sasha was having a baby with this good man that she was happy with. She could not wait the tell Mason the good news. Sasha decides to do something special to break the news to Mason that he was going to
