About this ebook
Martha Rogers
My outlook on life is like Bernie’s. His journeys take him many places, and he always has a positive outlook on his surroundings, wherever that may be. Since becoming a Christian, I try to see the best in people, and my desire is to bring some sunshine to people’s lives along the was. I thought of Bernie when I would read to my three children as they were growing up. I used to read them all the classics, but then I started to write about a little earthworm who would dig his way around in the earth and pop up at different places, and his adventure would begin. The words I wrote soon became a book. My son, Paul, who was artistically gifted, brought Bernie to life. The early writings of Bernie’s Journey sat upon the shelf for years until Paul, who is active-duty USN, was deployed overseas. That is when I had the idea to send him the draft of the first book. Thank God, Paul had some down time, and he started his sketches during that time. Drawing the pictures for Bernie’s Journey not only helped Paul occupy some otherwise unpleasant hours, but our book was coming to fruition.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A fast, enjoyable read. Set in the Oklahoma Territory, 1905, Becky Rebecca Haynes is coming home from college. She is determined to become a great journalist, specializing in Women Suffrages. Rebecca is independent and doesn't need anyone, not even God to help her make the decisions in her life and she especially doesn't need a man.But when she comes home, she meets an attractive man, Geoff. Geoff is coming to Barton Creek to do some cattle business and she finds out he's doing business with her father. Geoff finds Rebecca interesting and attractive and woo's her, but Rob, Rebecca's friend since childhood has plans for Rebecca and Geoff gets in the way and Rebecca is liking all this attention!!A fun, historical, somewhat love story that I definitely recommend!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I absolutely ADORE Martha's work. She is a seasoned author who incorporates God's love in every one of her books. When I open one of her books, it's like coming home each and every time! The hearts of her readers instantly become the characters in her stories, making the readers experience absolutely unforgettable. This is a FANTASTIC series. Barton Creek is a town I wish I could be a part of. Finding Becky takes us back to that sweet town, but added to the sweet story is a new character names Geoff Kensington......he brings along some mischief and mayhem when he arrives in town on the same train that brings Becky Haynes back into lovable Rob Frankston's life. But, Becky is long lost, and in her place is Miss Rebecca Haynes, the newly sophisticated woman journalist who's determined to stand up for woman's rights. But God, through Rob's affections for her, shows Miss Rebecca Haynes she'll ALWAYS be Becky. Through Rob, God helps Becky find herself, Him, and even true love. The spiritual messages once again flow strong, in this addition to Martha Roger's series. I highly recommend this book, along with Becoming Lucy and Morning for Dove, with 5 stars and two thumbs up. Book 4, Caroline's Choice, sounds just as fantastic and I can't wait to dive in!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Finding Becky is the 3rd book in the Winds Across The Praire series, but can easily be read as a stand alone book! I had no problems jumping right into this story. When Rebecca Haynes returns home to Barton Creek after spending four years back east procuring a degree in jounalism, her friends notice that she has changed. First off they had always called her Becky but she informs them she wants to be called Rebecca, she also comes off much more independant and confident, but the biggest change they seem to notice is the fact that her faith in God has changed. She seems to have grown away from the faith she had grown up with, she now believes that people make their own choices and therefore decide their own fate. That God is only there if things go wrong. While back east she also became immersed in womans suffrage movement. She hopes that the job that she has landed with the Barton Creek Cronicle will allow her to write articles that might further help the womens movement.Rob Frankston has loved Becky since they were 13 years old, she has never shown more than a friendly interest in him, but he has always been determined that they might marry someday. He becomes jealous of Geoff, a man that came to town on the same train Becky did. Geoff says he is there to purchase cattle but Rob is sure there is more to his story. Can Rob help Becky find her faith, and perhaps win her heart?Historical Christian Romance Fiction is one of my favorite genre's to read, and Martha Rogers writing is perfect. This was my first opprotunity to read her writing and now I want to read everything she has written. She writes in such a way that her characters personalities just jump off of the page, I also enjoyed the romantic tension between the main characters.I also loved the secondary characters in the book and can't wait to read Caroline's Choice the next book in this series, which is due out Jan 14th 2011.
