    PROLOGUE

‘’How did I get here?" … She asked herself as she was slumped right in the middle of a very busy airport in a foreign country where no one knew a word of English. She watched in despair as people went on with their business and not having a care in the world that she was destitute or even that she had flown thousands of kilometres just to flee from her very challenging situation at home.

‘’What am I even doing here?’’… she questioned her motives when she realised that it was almost impossible to go back home. Her work Visa had been approved and she had arrived in China where she was set to spend 2 years working and studying. Right beyond the huge doors of arrivals was a new world waiting for her, new experiences and above all else, a sense of peace that she had been longing for ever since she had said her vows to the then love of her life, who had almost suddenly turned to be something she never imagined.

China was meant to be her new start, a chance to find out who Nokuthula truly was, outside her comfort zone. It had been an adventurous two years and she had lost all sense of her true being, this drastic move to China was her chance to find her true happiness. The kind of happiness that resonates from deep within, the happiness that does not depend on any situation or on anyone.

Dragging herself and pushing her luggage trolley, she made her way towards those huge automatic doors that were supposed to let her into her future.

‘’Thabisile is that you?’’……a woman’s voice came from behind as she was trying to push through the heavy human traffic making its way into the busy streets of Hong Kong.

‘’Who could that be, who could possibly know me in this part of the world, can’t a girl find a place where she can hide anymore?’’…. She wondered as she hesitantly turned around to face the only person who seemed to know her and the English language………

In the chapters of this book, we find out the adventures of Nokuthula, formally known as Thabisile, most importantly we find out what led her to move to China and who could possibly know her in Hong Kong.

    CHAPTER ONE

‘’Where am I?’’ Mr Ximbi asked himself as he looked around the green fields, remembering that he last saw himself at home in Mount Ayliff preparing for his daughter’s wedding to the love of her life. Tragedy had struck the Ximbi family right in the middle of wedding festivities, Thabisile’s former husband crashed the lobola negotiations and shot Mr Ximbi right in the middle of his chest. The whole yard full of people turned into screams as family and friends fled for their lives and some running towards Mr Ximbi to try and help him. At the time, Zukile had fled the scene and was nowhere to be found. Because the ambulance was taking too long to arrive, Mr Watson and his wife had taken the matters into their own hands and tried to keep Mr Ximbi alive while they drove him to hospital. Fortunately, Mrs Watson was a retired doctor, and she was the kind of doctor who knew her way around a wounded person.

‘’Go back, it is not your time yet to be here’’…Mr Ximbi hears a loud voice while wandering the beautiful green fields of the unknown land he found himself in. He stopped dead on his tracks and tried to locate the voice, maybe the owner of the voice, but he could not see anything, as usual he shrugs his shoulders and carried on walking without any direction.

‘’My son, go back, this is not the place for you yet’’ The voice came again, so loud that Mr Ximbi fell flat on his face due to the shock.

‘’Who are you, where are you?’’ Mr Ximbi asked the faceless voice as he struggled to pick himself up from the ground.

‘’This is not the place for you right now, take my word and go back home to your family, they need you’’ The voice replied with a sterner command.

‘’No, this place is so peaceful and beautiful, this is exactly where I need to be’’ Mr Ximbi was hearing none of it. ‘’All my life I have never experienced such peace, everything seems right in this place, no one would want to leave this place and go back to a place of turmoil and distress’’ Mr Ximbi replied to the voice.

He had lived such a dysfunctional life, his family was in such a mess because of his actions motivated by greed and selfishness, but things were turning around, and Mr Ximbi had a second chance with his family. A chance to restore his position in the family, a protector, the leader of his family, but this tragedy happened, and it was threatening to take away this wonderful opportunity that Mr Ximbi was afforded, and tranquillity of this new place was inviting him to remain there forever.

‘’This is your time to take back your rightful place in your family and enjoy being a true husband and father, go back my son’’ The voice pleaded with a determined Mr Ximbi.

‘’Show yourself first, I could just be having a conversation with my imagination’’ Mr Ximbi started to bargain with the faceless voice, he was not about to risk making another rash decision that could cost him a chance of eternal peace, nothing was going to take this new experience from him, not even the mighty voice that caused shivers of reverence down his spine.

Just as he demanded to see the person behind the voice, a white light flashed right into his eyes, and he fell on the green grass again. When he managed to gather his composure, he began to see this majestic being standing right in front of him, a mighty looking man wearing a white suite with dark glasses. ‘’It’s…. It’s’’ Mr Ximbi could not formulate a full sentence.

‘’Yes, it’s me, I have been with you since you were reunited with your family’’. The mighty man replied to Mr Ximbi’s fumbled question.

‘’So, you are the one who has been speaking to me since I arrived in Johannesburg?’’ He finally managed to put together a question that made sense.

‘’Yes, same guy who has been guiding and leading you through rebuilding your family, and even if I say so myself, things have been going very well for you and your family. This is why I need you to trust me now and do as I say, go back to your family, they need you’’ The supernatural man replied.

‘’I have been so scared ever since I joined my family in Johannesburg, scared of the voice that has been speaking to me, made me feel like I was losing my mind, but mostly scared of disappointing my family again. How could they need someone like me, someone who almost killed them, what if I kill them this time around?’’ Self-doubt and fear were threatening to take over Mr Ximbi.

He had never been a man of integrity and he was aware that restoring his family meant being an upstanding man who was expected to love and protect. None of those characteristics were familiar territory to Mr Ximbi, he was even shocked at how his family had forgiven him and wanted him back to be a part their lives. At that moment, fear of failing and self-doubt made it seem like death was a much better option, especially if it meant being in such a beautiful place. Just as Mr Ximbi finished his pity party, he was immediately transported to the emergency room where his lifeless body was surrounded by a large group of hospital personnel working tirelessly trying to bring him back to life. Just as he was taking that scenery in, he saw his wife and daughter outside the room crying and praying for his survival. His brother was there too whispering something
