About this ebook

But that was soon to change.........dramatically!!
As Broadbill reached 25 miles due north of Robben Island, the eight charter guests crowded into the wheelhouse, each brandishing a firearm and pointing them at Kinnon and Nazeem.
"Okay, my friend. This is where we take over," Tall One said, covering Kinnon with his Glock. "Turn around the boat and steer 180 degrees and no funny business," he instructed.
"What the hell is going on?" Kinnon demanded, only to be rewarded with a flat hand across the back of his head.
"Shut up. Do what we say and you won't get hurt," was Tall One's reply.
With Tall One's gun pointed at him, he called the Cape Town Port Control to advise he had engine problems and needed lie off in the lee of Robben Island to effect repairs.
"That's fine," Port Control responded, "but stay outside the one-mile exclusion zone."
Kinnon agreed. He was aware an exclusion zone existed around Robben Island as it was a high security area. The island housed the prison where the apartheid government incarcerated African National Congress (ANC) members for terrorist activities.
Then it hit him like a bolt of lightning! They were going to spring the high-profile ANC leader Nelson Mandela from Robben Island!

    Prologue

At a solid wood table that can seat 24, six men wearing thick coats and gloves sit in earnest conversation. Overhead a single stark white light has difficulty casting sufficient light on the group. It is a typical midwinter’s day in Moscow and outside the snow has blown over the building, piling up on Red Square. A large, red flag bearing the hammer and sickle emblem blows horizontally in the stiff arctic breeze.

It is a highly secretive meeting taking place in a room right at the back of the historic Kremlin, the building that houses the Secretariat of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics or USSR.

But this is not an official meeting. This is a group of political revolutionaries that act within the Communist state but do not fall under their control. Their job is to destabilise the economies of countries so that the Soviet Union can move in and take over control. They are never on the frontline, but they are an independent organisation within the network of communist imperialistic operations. They do, however, work in conjunction with the Russian Secret Service, the KGB.

As the hours tick by and the Russian Belomorkanal cigarette smoke gets thicker and thicker, causing the visibility to get even worse, a plan of action is put together to finally destabilise the Republic of South Africa, one of the most successful western countries in the world, and move in to establish a communist regime there. The country is already in a state of turmoil, but it needs a final push to send it over the edge. With small patches of protests, burning and looting by members of the Umkhonto we Sizwe, the Russian-trained military wing of the African National Congress (ANC), a start has been made and now the ‘Coupe de grace’ is nearing the implementation; to cause a bloody revolution in the country, which at the moment is being run by the National Party of South Africa, also known as the apartheid government.

The group understands most of the world, including some Western countries, are calling for the release of Nelson Mandela, ANC leader, who is now in prison on Robben Island off Cape Town harbour in South Africa’s Western Cape province.

The group also knows that should anything happen to Mandela while in prison on the island, the local black population will rise as one to take over the country. But that won’t be too easy as the apartheid government forces are well trained, and many people will die as the country slides into chaos and destruction.

While the western powers deliberate what to do with the prickly pear known as South Africa, Russia will move in quickly to assist their comrades, supply them with arms, food and propaganda and establish a so-called peace-keeping force in the country. From there, another communist state will be born. South Africa already has a large communist party that will greatly assist them in their quest.

They do realise, however, that there are rumours that the apartheid government has eventually started talking to Mandela to free him and the other imprisoned members of the ANC and to have a free and fair democratic election. There are also plans afoot to move him from the island to a secure prison inland. They will have to move swiftly, and they will have to move soon. There is no time to waste.
