I, Richard Rezendes, wrote my first book when I was in my 20s, writing over and over until finally printing 'Ground of the Devil' on a laser printer. I kept the manuscript for 35 years before finally publishing it in February 2019 with Page Publishing. It was my dream to publish a book when I retired at age 62. Then I wrote my second book, 'The Revelation of Emma Grace.' When COVID-19 struck, I decided to write some more books during the pandemic: 'A Haunting in Mattapoisett,' 'Hell Under the United States,' and 'Windy Outbreaks' with Stillwater Press out of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA. Then 'Ground of the Devil: Book Two,' published by Dorrence Rose Dog Books, and now 'Ground Of the Devil: Book Three.' I worked at Brown University for 29 years and East Greenwich Public Schools in Rhode Island before retiring at 62 so I could take care of my sick wife, who died in May 2023. I am still writing books. I have other hobbies such as bowling, having been a PBA member for 12 years until the pandemic. I also enjoy the beach and nature.

Chapter 1

The Ghosts from the Devil

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Boardman Institute Hospital this evening. I have Katy Phillips here and this poor woman had a baby born a demon. She was born at Rhode Island Hospital on august 2nd.Doctors, nurses, law enforcement and military operations here tonight. I am holding up baby Roxbury. She has horns, pointy ears slanted red eyes a head like a wolf and a flat nose like a pig dark skin and she cries like a wild animal. She’s crying now and she sounds like an attacking little devil! said Doctor Screw her. What! Are we going to have a chapter three in ground of the devil! You fuckin got to be kidding! said Junior. Then the baby was placed in Katy Phillips arms as she watched and cried then she put the baby back into the crib. The baby was crying again and the cries sounded in-between of a human baby and animal growls! The crowd at the meeting were frightened! Being scared of a baby raises fear that there’s another devil somewhere! Ladies and gentlemen. My name is Dr. Replica who examined this baby. Roxbury is a normal human baby she was born deformed she has hands and feet that are normal and her body arms and legs are normal but this baby is possessed and Kate or her boyfriend is not the father of this baby. The parents of her are unknown. However, her parents may have had some kind of contact with the pink blob jelly or the orange sand the venom poison from the devil or her demons that made Roxbury deform like this. She will grow out of it in time. Priests will be preforming exorcisms from the catholic church to get this devil out of her. It’s going to take time. For now, baby Roxbury Phillips will be in quarantine here indefinitely! Katy Phillips will be here for three months. Doctor, do we have more demons here in Moodus? said someone in the crowd. The devil and all of her 14 demons has been put down, however some of her demons also had babies but there’s no reports of any of them around here anymore but I would not rule any of them out. It is possible something could be still lurking underground but the military is on top of any surprises that surfaces. The only thing we have to worry about is the deadly pink blob jelly and orange sand is a deadly substance from the devil and her demons because a lot of it could still be underground. It is deadly and it can kill you if you touch it and it’s a flesh-eating substance. If you see it stay away from it because it glows in the dark and it looks like a jellyfish and it’s a live substance and it moves and travels but since all the demons were killed off, we haven’t been seeing it around here lately but that doesn’t mean that it’s not there. said Dr. Replica. Later: During Katy Phillips three-month quarantine at the Boardman Institute, she can have visitors but she cannot leave the facility. She started to hang with a rough crowd dealing drugs and prostitution while she was at the Boardman Institute. She met a black man by the name of Eddy Yetti; This man was like Rocky Dennis and Omen, typical dope feans! She broke a hole in a wall in the apartment she was staying at in the hospital and drug dealers brought two footlockers to store inside this wall. One to store drugs and the other held money. Katy made a new door to make it match the wall she broke through. She knew where all the cameras were in the hospital. One day her mother and father came to visit her and the baby. Katy told her parents about what’s going on here at the hospital. Mary and Joseph Phillips. How are you doing Mom and Dad? I have to stay here in quarantine for three months. After the three months I have no place to stay. Can I move into the house when I get out of here? said Katy. Yes, you may but you have to clean up your act. If you’re going to act like your sister Carrie did, you’re not welcome! said her mother, Mary. I will behave Mom, I promise!

Katy and her parents went to see Baby Roxbury and Mary felt electricity running through her hair and the room felt electrified! Joseph was looking in the crib at the baby and he started getting a headache and ringing in his ears looking at the scary little Roxbury. The baby was asleep. He said. This baby looks like the devil! No shit dad you should expect what you’re looking at! This is why we get mad at you Katy because of your angry outbursts! Mary, let’s get out of here! It’s too stuffy in this room. Katy good luck with your baby. When you get out of here you give me a call. When you come home it’s our way or the highway! Just remember that! said Joseph. ‘Phase the demonic energy from baby Roxbury got into Katy’s Parents plus evil energy from her as well and Joseph and Mary brought it home with them! They live in the Wilks Farm House which was part of the Boardman Institute at one time. The area was known to hauntings when the devil was roaming around but it’s quiet now and Joseph and Mary Phillips and their cat Kemba has been living at this home for a year in a half now but since the visit with their daughter Katy strange things starts happening at the house. The Phillips has animals on the farm, a horse and a couple of goats, a chicken coop, a couple of pigs, a cow a greenhouse to grow plants and flowers, a bird sanctuary and a vegetable garden. One of their pigs looked demonic but the Phillips never noticed. They have a barn in the yard and a brook in the woods behind the Wilks Farm House and deer roam the area and they feed the deer. One deer has horns like the devil. They have a patio with wooden chairs to sit by the brook and a water fountain and the brook is clean enough to swim in. The patio also has a table with chairs around it and a firepit nearby to keep warm and keep the bugs away at night and have cookouts, catching fish in the brook or slaughter animals on the farm! When the Phillips got home from visiting their daughter, they heard the farm animals making all kinds of noises and the horse was winning and deer was running around the yard like rabbits! Mary went in the house, Joseph went out to the farm to check on the animals to see why they are making so much noise. He found nothing. Then it started lightning so he put all the animals that were outside and he brought them in the barn then it started rain and thunder. He heard something flapping like a big bird through the trees and when the lightning flashed, he saw nothing. Then he went in the house. The animals were quiet after Joseph put them in the barn. Kemba the cat kept meowing in the house walking from room to room. Somethings going on here Joseph. The animals were acting up and Kemba is crying and running from room to room. I don’t see nothing wrong Mary. Maybe Kate or her baby is putting a curse on us! Oh my God Mary! don’t get ridiculous! ‘Phase: Joseph and Mary doesn’t know the history of the Wilks Farm House because the Wilks Family all died in this house from carbon dioxide poisoning a family of six: Possessed by the devil!’ Then at two minutes after every hour starting at 11:02pm for 24 hours starting while they were in bed. They heard a baby crying in one of the bedrooms where Kate will be sleeping when she comes home in three months. Mary got up and she checked the empty rooms and nothing was there. Joseph did you hear that it sounds like a baby crying in one of the empty bedrooms? No Mary I didn’t hear anything! Then she went back to bed. 12:02am Joseph heard a faint sound, Get Out!! Waking him up and he got up and he went to the bathroom then he went back to bed. Mary woke up from a bad dream of a creature like werewolf staring her in her bed! She woke up in a hurry and she looked at the alarm clock and the time was 1: 02am.she sat up on the bed for a few minutes and she went back to sleep. 2:02am Joseph woke up hearing an animal growling and it sounded like it was in the house.

He got up looking around the house and he found nothing and he went back to bed. Mary woke up and she looked at the alarm clock and the time was 3:02am and she heard the baby crying again and this time it was in the other room very softly. She got up to check the rooms and nothing was there! She shook her head then she went back to bed. One hour later Joseph who weighs 190 pounds was thrown out of bed on to the floor. He got up and he looked at the alarm clock and the time was 4:02am. He got up and he looked around the room and he jumped back into bed. Mary woke up around 5am and Joseph jumped on her to have sex and the time was 5:02am and the bed was vibrating while they were having sex and Joseph and Mary was still getting it on when the vibrating stopped a minute later. Joseph woke up and he heard a baby crying very loudly waking him up and he looked at the alarm clock and the time was 6:02am. He got up to check the bedrooms and he saw nothing. He looked outside a window and a coyote was running through the yard. He went back to bed. 7:02 am Mary woke up to something blowing in her ears. She said Joseph stop blowing in my ears. Joseph gave her a funny look and he got up to go to the bathroom. He went back to bed and something pushed him and the time was 8:02am. He looked at Mary thinking he playing with him. The couple was on vacation and he rolled over and he went back to sleep. 9:02am Mary woke up and the wind was blowing hard outside that woke her up and Kemba was on the bed looking at her. The wind stopped and the cat jumped off the bed and he went downstairs a minute later. Then she got up to make breakfast. Joseph woke up to a snapping noise the sound of a whip! He looked at the alarm clock and the time was 10:02am. He sat on the bed trying to understand what this noise was. It was snap, snap, whip! Then it was over. Later he looked at the alarm clock and the time was 10:07am. He got up to take a shower. Then he came downstairs to have breakfast. 11:02am Mary heard the same noise. Joseph, did you hear that noise? she said. What noise! It sounded like a whip cracking! I didn’t hear it but I heard a noise like that a little while ago upstairs and I can’t describe where it’s coming from. It sounded like a horse getting its ass whipped! After breakfast Joseph went out to feed the animals and let them out of the barn. A little while later he saw a dead deer laying along the brook. He looked at his watch and the time was 12:02pm. He picked up the deer brought it into the barn for slaughter then he cooked the dear in the firepit. He said to Mary. Where going to have plenty of hamburger to eat I just saw a dead deer near the brook and I’m grilling it in the firepit right now! Joseph something is going on here in this house, I have been hearing strange noises and babies crying all night long and you blowing in my ears and whippersnapper sounds! That’s strange Mary I don’t remember blowing in your ears but I did feel you pushing me a couple of times in your sleep you knocked me out of bed last night! I have been hearing strange noises too, the whipping sounds but the baby cries are probably animals having sex out in the woods that sounds like a baby crying, I hear that once in a while. But we might have some kind of animal roaming around here somewhere because I saw a dead deer by the brook and I’m cooking it right now. Joseph, I never push you out of bed all the years we’ve been married but if I did, I’m sorry. The baby cries and the whipping sounds like it’s in the house somewhere and the wind blowing and the cat looking at me kind of strange and these strange happenings seems to happen every hour or two. Mary go fix lunch and I will find out where these noises are coming from. She was going inside and she saw a dead crow laying out in the yard. The time was 1:02pm. Joseph, there’s a dead bird laying near the house!"

Your right Mary something is going on here! Joseph scooped up the dead crow and he put it in a garbage bag to toss it in the firepit using a shovel. Later he went to the firepit to take the cooked deer off and it was gone! The time was 2:02pm. ‘Phase: A flying hyena looking bird scooped down to snatch the deer on the open flame and it flew away; It may be the same creature that killed the deer in the first place. Joseph was in the barn when the giant bird snatched the dear! When he went to get the deer, he was shocked when it disappeared. He went back to the barn to get his shot gun then he calls police. The police arrived. Hi officer I’m Joseph Phillips. Some animal is roaming on my property. My wife Mary saw a dead crow near the house and I found a dead deer down by the river so I picked it up and I started cooking it in this firepit and when I returned to get the deer, it was gone. I checked my animals and they are okay. But last night when I came home the farm animals started acting up but I could not find out what was wrong so I put the animals in the barn then me and the wife was hearing strange noises such as animal growls and a baby crying. We do not have a baby in the house. The noises seem to wake us up all evening almost every hour. I saw a coyote running in the yard during the night but something big is here somewhere! Joseph and the cop walked through the yard, farm and river and it was dark and raining, looking up in the trees and all around his property and they found nothing. It could be a bear or the devil has another demon roaming around. You heard about the devil and her destructive demons here!? said the cop. Yes, I did and I heard enough about these creatures! I thought they were all dead! said Joseph. I thought so too but it’s possible they’re could be more, some of her demons had babies and it’s not known if they’re are anymore! If I were you anytime you’re out here you may want to have your gun ready, because we do have black bears here! said the cop. Joseph and the officer were going through the Wilks Farm property. Mary put a load of clothes in the washing machine and she went upstairs to start cooking. She brought a sandwich and a beer out to Joseph while he was working in the yard. Then she went downstairs in the basement to put the clothes in the dryer. She found the washing machine door open and the clothes scattered all over the cellar floor. The time was 3:02pm. She said to herself. That’s strange! How did this happen! She picked up the clothes to smell them and they smelt clean so she put them in the dryer. A black mist formed behind her and she felt a cold draft. The black mist rolled across the basement and it disappeared when Mary turned around. She put the dryer on high then she ran upstairs. She went out to the yard and Joseph was mowing the lawn and she told him. When you have a chance check the washing machine. When I went to put the clothes in the dryer, I found the door open and the clothes scattered everywhere! That’s weird! I’ll check it out when I finish mowing the lawn and taking care of the animals. At 4pm the sun went behind the clouds. At 4:01pm Joseph heard thunder. At 4:02pm he saw a jet-black low cloud rolling around just over the tree tops! He said to himself. What a weird cloud is a tornado coming! Then he quickly put the mower and garden tools away and he put the animals in the barn and it started raining thunder and lightning. He fed and cleaned the animals and the barn then he grabbed his revolver pistol and he went into the house. ‘Phase: The black cloud is not anything to do with the storm outside it’s black smoke of hell from the devil! It’s a ghost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joseph went in the house before a loud crack of thunder was heard and he went downstairs to check the washing machine and he didn’t find anything wrong. He said, Mary make sure the door is closed tight so it doesn’t pop open!

The storm passed quickly and the sun came back out. Joseph went to cook some steaks on the grill, while Mary went downstairs to get the clothes out of the dryer. However, the dryer door wouldn’t open. She pulled the handle, but it still wouldn’t budge. As she looked around the dark basement, she thought she saw a demonic ghost standing over her, but couldn’t be sure. She tried again to open the door, but to no avail. Frustrated, she yelled, Joseph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suddenly, the dryer door opened by itself, accompanied by a clicking sound. Mary grabbed the clothes and brought them upstairs to put them away. Meanwhile, Joseph finished cooking the steaks and brought them inside. He then put hot dogs, chicken, and fish on the grill since company was coming over that night. However, the grill suddenly stopped working, even though he had just put a fresh bottle of propane on it. Joseph exclaimed, Oh, what the fuck happened now! The steaks are done, but the rest of the food on the grill is cold! At 6:02pm, the grill suddenly restarted cooking, just as Joseph was checking it. Mary made a salad from fresh vegetables from the yard and cooked oven-baked potatoes in the oven. While she was cooking, she heard strange laughing at 7:02pm, which seemed to be coming from somewhere else. At 7:03pm, their guests started arriving, and Mary put wine on the table. The dining room table sat eight people, and Mary introduced everyone. Joseph, this is Julie and Mike, Rob and Robin, Justin and Carrol. Welcome! I’m surprised everyone came because we have a severe thunderstorm warning until 10pm this evening. I’m glad you all got here before the weather gets bad. It’s a pleasure to meet you, and let’s eat. We have steak, chicken, fish, hamburgers, and hot dogs, salad, oven potatoes, red and white wine. Let’s chow!!! A few minutes later, Joseph heard a big bang in the basement at 8:02pm. He asked, Did you hear that!? Mary replied, No, Joseph. He went down to the cellar to investigate, but everything seemed fine. I don’t see anything wrong down there, but hail is coming down and there’s thunder and lightning. Suddenly, there was another loud bang. Was that what you heard, Joseph? asked Mary. No, it wasn’t thunder. It sounded like something falling down, but everything is okay, replied Joseph. At 9:02pm, Mary heard a baby crying upstairs in Kate Phillips’ bedroom. Does anyone hear that? It sounds like a baby crying up in Kate’s room. It sounds like her evil baby. I don’t like what’s happening in this house, said Mary. She went upstairs to check the rooms, but found nothing unusual. She came back downstairs and told her dinner guests about Kate’s supposed demonic baby. Later, the three couples left and Mary and Joseph cleaned up after dinner. Just as they were finishing, Joseph saw a face looking in through the kitchen window. The vision looked like the head of a human with red animal-like eyes. He waved it off and closed the blinds, telling Mary to stay inside. The time of the haunting was 10:02pm. Joseph went outside with his shotgun, but found nothing. He then shot a skunk running through the yard and placed it near the kitchen window where he had seen the red eyes. He locked all the doors and went upstairs to shower and go to bed. Mary looked at the alarm clock and the time was 10:57pm. Five minutes later a bolt of lightning struck one window breaking the glass and the bolt traveled through the bedroom while they were in bed and it went back out an open window, at 11:02pm! Mary screamed hysterically, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joseph saw it too and said, Let’s go to a motel. Don’t touch anything so you don’t get electrocuted! It’s still lightning outside. I’ll fix the window tomorrow. The hauntings stopped. The ghosts from the devil’s powers haunted the house for 24 hours because the parents visited their demonic daughter and demon baby. At 12:02 am, Katy Phillips was practicing witchcraft in her apartment with Eddy Yetti, her new friend at the Boardman Institute. At 1:02 am, they were in bed. At 2:02 am, the storm was over. Then, at 3:02 am, her demonic baby started crying, and she cried for the rest of the night. The next morning, Joseph and Mary returned to the house, and he took the broken window that was struck by lightning to the hardware store to have it fixed. Then, he came back home and installed the window. After that, he called a priest to come bless the house. The priest arrived and said, Good afternoon, I’m Father Dick Harris from St. Michael’s Church. I understand your house may be haunted. Yes! said Mary. We have a daughter who may be possessed, and she has a demonic baby. We went to visit her a couple of days ago at the Boardman Institute Hospital, and when we returned, things began happening here! Last night, our bedroom window was struck by lightning, and a greenish-yellow lightning bolt passed over our bed, across the room, and out an open window. It blew the first window out, breaking the glass, and I just finished repairing that window. We have been living here for almost two years, and nothing like this has happened before in this house. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever seen in my 49 years of life! That’s not all; we kept hearing a baby crying upstairs in Kate’s bedroom, and I saw a strange animal-looking face with red eyes looking in the kitchen window staring at me. It looked like the devil! The priest asked, Were you physically attacked by any of these happenings? We were not hurt, but we fear that if we don’t do something soon, we might not be so lucky, said Joseph. Okay, I will throw holy water, say prayers to St. Michael the Archangel, and bless each room, the barn, and the property. I will sprinkle all the animals, and everything should be okay. If the prayers don’t work, you will need to hire a paranormal investigator. If my prayers and holy water work, and the strange happenings stop, then everything will be okay. Father, in three months, my daughter will be moving back in with us after serving her quarantine at the Boardman Institute. What if something happens when she comes? said Mary. Call me before she moves in, and I’ll do a second blessing," said the priest. After the priest left, there were no more hauntings.

Chapter 2

Kate Phillips.

Three months later, around November 8th, Katy Phillips moved back home after quarantine at the Boardman Institute because of her demonic baby. The day before, Joseph and Mary called the priest to come bless the house before she arrived. The next day, her friend Eddy Yetti arrived at the house driving a 2016 Nissan Ultima and helped Katy out of the car. Joseph came out to greet her and helped her with her suitcase, saying, Welcome home, Katy. Thank you, Dad. Joseph said to Eddy, her friend, Hi. Eddy just looked at him without saying a word and then got in his car and drove off. Man, what’s his problem! I don’t know, Dad, that’s just the way he is! Then they went into the house. How did you meet this guy, Kate? It’s a long story. I really don’t want to talk about him! Mary came upstairs from doing laundry and said, Welcome home, Katy. Thank you, Mom. Do you like chuck roast and chouriço with carrots and boiled oven potatoes? It’s a Portuguese cuisine with salad and white wine, honey. It sounds good, Mother. Don’t forget I’m half Portuguese! Later they sat down to eat dinner. Then Mary showed her the house, and Joseph went out to feed and take care of the animals. Katy, the house has changed since you were here before. The kitchen and dining room are small, and then you have the living room with a wood-burning fireplace and the pantry going out the front door. The room to the right is a family room or study where Dad works on his computer. The first floor is the same as before, but upstairs is different. Instead of one bedroom, we now have three bedrooms up here. Our bedroom and the bathroom are the same. Now we have a new addition since the house fire. Remember, you slept in the room where the study room is now. Now your room is on the right, all ready made and furnished. The room on the left is an extra bedroom. We still have the barn and the animals outside. Downstairs, the cellar door is now across the kitchen, and we have a new washer and dryer down here, and Dad has his workbench area. The cellar is pretty much the same as before. The house is a little bigger now, and it’s nice here, said Mary. They went upstairs to the dining room, drinking wine, and caught up on lost time. Mom, what do you do? Do you work? Yes, I do. I work in a clothing factory out of town. What does Dad do? He’s an airline pilot for business travel, said Mary. Is he still writing his book? Yes, he is. While Mary and Katy were catching up on lost time, Joseph came inside, and they watched a horror movie on TV called Shutter, a story of a photographer being haunted by a female ghost! Dad, are you nuts watching a movie like that? You really want to bring the devil in watching a movie like that. Change the channel! said Katy. Joseph changed the channel, and they watched a Boston Celtics game on TV playing the New York Knicks. The Celtics had a 15-point lead with two minutes left. That’s better, Dad. Watch basketball, said Katy. Then she went up and took a shower and went to bed. At 11:02 pm, Katy went to sleep. At 12:02 am, Mary went to bed after her shower. Joseph was already in bed. He woke up and looked at the alarm clock, and the time was 1:02 am. He sat on the bed until 1:04 am, and nothing happened, and the house was quiet. He got up to go to the bathroom, and then he went back to bed. Katy was sleeping and dreaming of watching her baby cry, and she woke up out of a sound sleep. She looked at the alarm clock, and the time was 2:02 am. She had visions of the strange happenings before at two minutes after every hour, and she couldn’t sleep. She stayed awake until 3:06 am, and nothing happened. Finally, she went to sleep.

At around 5:30 am, Joseph got up to feed and let the animals out of the barn, and Mary got up an hour later to make breakfast before they went off to work. Mary made pancakes, maple syrup, muffins, eggs, ham, and sausage, orange juice, and put on a pot of coffee. Then they went to work. It was a Tuesday morning. Katy woke up and looked at her alarm clock, and the time was 9:02 am. She sat on the bed until 9:04 am, then got up and went downstairs to the kitchen, where she saw breakfast waiting for her on the table, and she helped herself. Later, after eating, she called her friend Eddy on her cell phone. Eddy, it’s Katy. What are you doing? It’s 10 o’clock in the morning. Why are you calling me so early? I was sleeping! Get your ass up! Come to my house at 32 North Street where you dropped me off. My parents went to work, and they left me a breakfast buffet. Come on over and pig out, and we’ll do some witchcraft and have some fun! Come on over!, said Katy. Give me half an hour, and I’ll be right over, said Eddy. Eddy, park your car on Boardman Street and meet me at the front door of my house, said Katy. He arrived and parked on the next street over. He rang the doorbell, ding dong! Katy greeted him with her housecoat wide open, showing Eddy Yetti her naked body. He gave her a kiss and grabbed her breasts. Then they finished eating the leftover food on the table, lunch for Katy, and then it was a few hours of fun and games. First, Eddy stripped down, and they jumped into Katy’s bed and got it on! After screwing for an hour, it was black and white under the covers! Then they practiced devil magic in the cellar, using lit candles and a Ouija board to call spirits. Later, they both had a bubble bath together and more sex, and then it was time for Eddy to leave before Katy’s parents came home from work. Katy went down to clear the aftermath in the cellar from their fun, and she sprayed the cellar with Lysol to kill the smoke smell down there. While she was down there, a black mist formed at one corner of the basement, and a second black mist formed at the other corner of the basement and disappeared going through the walls. But she did not see the ghost mist, even though she and Eddy invited them in while practicing witchcraft. Later, Mary came home first after working at the clothing factory and brought drapes home to wash and put up later, changing the summer drapes and putting up the ones for winter. Katy was in her room talking on her cell phone and watching TV. She said, Kate, what were you doing in the cellar today? I was putting some clothes down there, and I had to spray the cellar with Lysol because it stinks down there. Okay, it smells nice down there. Then Mary started cooking, waiting for Joseph to come home. Joseph was flying a traffic news helicopter over the Connecticut Turnpike, and a black mist formed in the helicopter cockpit, but no one saw it. Then he arrived home around 7 pm, and the three Phillips had shepherd’s pie and red wine for dinner. Joseph said, Katy, before you get too comfortable at home here, there are a few rules you have to follow if you plan to stay here. Number one, do not bring that man here who dropped you off the other night. I don’t want any of your boyfriends in this house. Two, you need to change your lifestyle. Quit your drug habit, alcohol, etc. Three, the way you found this house clean and neat, I expect it to be that way. When you get up in the morning, you make your own bed and keep your room neat. You hang your clothes or put them away, not scattered all over the room. Four, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings, it is your job to feed the animals and take them out of the barn. You have to get up at 5 in the morning to take care of the animals. Then, at dusk on those days, you bring the animals inside the barn out of the cold. So, if you want to party all night on a Friday night, you better be up at 5 am to take care of the animals. You can sleep all day on Saturdays after taking care of the animals.

As long as you get your ass up for church on Sundays, finally when you get a job, you have to pay board $50.00 a week. If you can obey these rules, you’re welcome here. If you break them, you’re out! Do I make myself clear, Katy? Yes, Dad. Then she went up to her room. Katy, it’s your job to take care of the animals. It’s Tuesday night, let’s get busy. Dad showed Katy what she had to do. One of the horses named Ed had a shit bigger than imaginable! The turd was so big it would bury a football team in a huddle. She said to herself, I can’t take this, no fucking way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dad was not in the barn at the time. Kate took care of the pigs, goats, cows, chickens/turkeys, etc., horses. Then at nighttime, a giant bird or a bear was roaming around the farm outside, roaring and growling, and Joseph shot with his gun to quiet the noise of the outside animals in the night!!!! Kate went into the house, and she got ready for bed. Joseph was watching basketball on TV, UCONN was playing Syracuse on TV, and Kate went to bed. Mary was in the kitchen getting ready for breakfast the next day. Then everyone was in bed by 11:02 pm. The next day, Mom and Dad went to work, and Katy was up to her daily tricks! Joseph took care of the animals on Wednesday morning before going off to work. Then when the parents went to work, Katy invited Eddy Yetti over again to practice more devil worship with a pair of Ouija boards in the basement, and they polished off a bottle of vodka. Kate was so drunk she could hardly walk. Eddy left, and Kate hid the Ouija boards and covered up a witchcraft circle under a rug. She blew out the candles, and she sprayed the cellar with Lysol to kill the smell of candles. Then she went upstairs to her room, and she passed out on her bed. Mary came home from work, and she started cooking. She threw open food cans in the waste basket, and paper towel, and she accidentally knocked the waste basket over, and out comes an empty gallon bottle of Smirnoff vodka. Mary called, Katy! Katy! Katy!! but no answer. Then she went downstairs to the basement, and she could still smell candles burning. Then she lifted a rug, and she saw the witchcraft circle drawn on the cement floor. Mary threw the rug out of the way, and she’s pissed!!! She heard a faint voice, Get out! She looked around in the basement. It smelled like Lysol, candles burning, and the smell of booze. Then she went upstairs, then she went to Kate’s bedroom, and she was passed out on her bed half-naked. The toilet in the bathroom was full of puke, Katy forgot to flush the toilet. Then Mary went downstairs to finish cooking. They’re having frankfurts and baked beans for supper tonight, and brown bread. Katy got up, and she puked again in the toilet, and she flushed it this time, then she went back to her room to lay down. Joseph came home from work, and he kissed Mary, and he said, How was your day today? My day was okay, but I think Katy is up to no good. Come downstairs and look at this. She’s doing some kind of sacrifice down here because this circle was not here before. Then I found her passed out on her bed when I got home, and I saw throw up in the toilet that wasn’t flushed, and the bathroom stunk of her vomit, and in her bedroom, and I called her three times, and she was passed out in her bed. I shook her, and she wouldn’t wake up. Then I found an empty bottle of vodka in the trash. She ate all the breakfast we left on the table for her, so I guess she may have had a visitor because things don’t look right, said Mary. Later, Katy came downstairs, and her father gave her a dirty look, and he said, You’re breaking the rules already, Kate. Sit down and eat. I’m sorry, Dad. I just had a few drinks too much today. No shit! A gallon of vodka, and you’re puking all over the house!!! Who the hell was with you today!? Nobody, Dad, just me drinking vodka and eating food. You were not alone. One person is not going to drink a whole gallon of vodka and eat 10 pounds of breakfast food."

Well, Dad, you can believe what you want to believe because I did! Come downstairs, I want to show you something! What’s this? I never knew that was there, I have no idea. It must have been there forever. It looks like some kind of Jewish symbol, said Kate. Then Joseph started pulling the cellar apart, and he found the Ouija boards hiding under basement furniture. He smashed the Ouija boards over his knee and threw the broken pieces at Katy, and he said, Get your stuff and get the fuck out! Katy didn’t eat her supper, and she went upstairs to her room to pack her bags. She started saying bad things in her room, putting a curse on the house while she was packing. Then she stormed out of the house in the pouring rain and called her friend to come pick her up. Eddy Yetti picked her up a couple of blocks away, and she ended up staying with him. In the meantime, Joseph and Mary decided to call Fr. Harris to come bless the house because Katy must have been practicing witchcraft, and they might have some invisible visitors there that they don’t want. I don’t ever want her in this house again! Set up a meeting with the priest, and tonight we better stay at a hotel for our safety until Fr. Harris blesses our house. Let’s finish dinner, clean up, and get out of here! said Joseph. After dinner, Mary cleaned up the kitchen, and Joseph packed a suitcase. Then they went to a hotel. While they were gone, strange things were happening in the house beginning at 11:02 pm. A baby was crying in Katy’s bedroom. At 12:02 am, the water turned on in the bathroom sink and tub, and the toilet was flushing all by itself, and it stopped a minute later. At 1:02 am, Katy’s bedroom door opened and closed until 1:03 am. At 2:02 am, the house filled up with a black moving mist with red eyes and moving hands and arms. Teeth were showing, and it all vanished a minute later. At 3:02 am, a bolt of lightning struck the chimney. At 4:02 am, the gas stove burners turned on and off a minute later. At 5:02 am, the TV turned on by itself and off a minute later. At 6:02 am, the washer and dryer with no clothes in it started running and shut off a minute later. At 7:02 am, the rug in the basement lifted and folded over, showing the Satanic symbol before covering it back up a minute later. Joseph arrived just before 7 am to let the animals out of the barn and feed them. Then he heard a loud noise near the house that sounded like trumpets blaring. The time was 8:02 am. Mary was in the house, and she didn’t hear anything. Mary, did you hear that noise? It sounds like horns or some kind of musical instruments, loud and clear, said Joseph. I didn’t hear anything, she said. Joseph said, I have to go to work. Wait here until the priest comes. If anything strange happens in the house, get out until the priest comes. Then Joseph went to work at the airport, and Mary did her work at home cutting hair. Mary heard a baby crying in Katy’s room. The time was 9:02 am, then her first customer arrived at 9:03 am. Ding dong, a lady rang the doorbell. "Good morning,
