The Primary Substance

I was deceived along with many others. Billions have been tricked into believing an untruth. It is all of us affected by the falsehood which came from Anaximander of Miletus (610 BC - 545 BC). The great philosopher came up with the primary substance, more commonly known as God. Thus, making him the world’s very first theologian. He did not mean it as a lie, but his mistake is the falsehood we must deal with. Anaximander said, "All things arise from a primary substance and return to it, unless they pay fine and penalty for their iniquity". Creator seems to be the must have qualification for God to be God Anaximander’s primary substance went on to become the creator God for many of the world’s religions. His creator God found its way into the Old Testament. Hence, Hellenistic Judaism. We have been stuck with his terrible mistake for centuries.

The mistake went undetected till 2006. The unsuspecting Richard Dawkins read the Old Testament only to discover Yahweh the God of War. The Bible has 2 concepts of God in Yahweh the Creator God and Yahweh the God of War. I can imagine the God of War reprimanding Anaximander, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. But in truth, his being Greek meant he was of no interest to the geo-political tribal God of Israel. Dawkins discovered the primary substance to be a thing of terror because it gave rise to primary substance practitioners. Otherwise known as the faith family. The faith family had pushed the God of War into the margins. Dawkins was not imagining the God of War but there was so much denial coming from the faith family he needed reassuring. Stephen Hawking (1942-2018) vouched for his comprehension skills.

The God of War acquired two formidable champions in Richard Dawkins and Stephen Hawking. It was because science managed to find the real primary substance. The hot dense primordial soup of matter found at the base of Big Bang is the primary substance. Particles are the building blocks of the universe. Yahweh the God of War is the most effective weapon the world has against the formidable faith family and their God delusion. Theologians circumvented science and God to turn Russia into a theocracy and grab it for themselves. Theocracy is a fascist institution. Russia is typical of what can happen to a Christian country. Theology is an intellectual discipline which came out of philosophy. This prompted Stephen Hawking to say philosophy is dead. Theology should have been buried in 2010. Instead, it stayed and cost many a fellow human peace and prosperity. 

The primary substance evolved. The most famous contributors being Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. The error was compounded. Theist and theologian Aristotle (c. 384 B.C. to 322 B.C.) wrote books about the primary substance which is how come we know so much about the history of God the creator. But there is another source. The Old Testament is a compilation of 39 random books. It was obviously compiled after all 39 books were written. The Old Testament was compiled in the time between Malachi and the gospel of Mark. The window is 400 years. Hellenistic Judaism was the editorial policy applied. Hellenistic meaning derived from the Greek philosophers. Amendments, and additions were made to achieve the Hellenistic Judaism status the Old Testament has. The 39 books are called the Word of God.

Aristotle’s and Anaximander’s books amounted to the Word about God. Methods and mechanisms for finding out about God started with the natural sciences. The science was flawed. The Word about God was symptomatic of the God delusion. Faith is a symptom of the God delusion, and theocracy is the scale it has reached. Aristotle was a prolific writer with international bestsellers under his belt. He is arguably the most influential Greek that ever lived. He worked with Alexander the Great in spreading Greek culture around the world. Back in the day Hellenistic was international and hard to ignore. In 167 BC Hellenism was forced on the Jews. The primary substance was a Greek invention. The Old Testament is a Jewish invention. The Word of God came to us via the prophets.

Natural theology was popular in many parts of the natural world. The primary substance was assigned to the prophets of Yahweh. It was assigned to Moses. Anaximander gave the world natural theology. The prophets made it revelation theology. Aristotle was the Einstein of his day. People the world over could do the same experiments and make the same scientific discoveries. Universal truth was universally appreciated. But it was flawed. The universe’s operating system was thought to be spirituality. Their natural world was evidence of the primary substance. Philosophers made it into the working system it became. Man, who was alienated from God could be reconciled with God through philosophy or what was the word about God.

What happened was primary substance practitioners created the primary substance to go with their science and their science justified belief in the primary substance. Aristotle embodied the science of his age, and he had his own idea of the primary substance. If Aristotle had not told us about Anaximander the idea could easily have been re-attributed to the great experimenter. Richard Dawkins another leading scientist wanted to write yet another book and for that book he needed to research the Old Testament. He read it. But to his surprise, he could not see Yahweh the Creator God. He was blinded by Yahweh the God of War. His intellectual discipline was not theology and in the vein of Jesus Christ he too was another without faith. Once more the faith family was in serious trouble.

The biologist had no problem seeing the biological God of the Old Testament. But it was too silly an idea to be given any serious consideration. His book was going to be about the God delusion and the God operating system. His focus was on the mechanisms and methods fortifying the delusion. As far as he was concerned it was not the Word of God. The militant atheist was naturally lacking in faith. He had his own idea of how the universe had come into being. His operating system was Big Bang. He relied on sub-atomic particles being the evidence of things not seen. Most of the stuff about the Primary Substance and Creator God propaganda is found in a few verses of the Old Testament. Dawkins latched onto history as the alternative method to theology for understanding the book.

Dawkins was dismissive of God the ethnic cleanser because of common sense. Common sense is the greatest enemy the spaceman has. FYI the Big Bang theory was not available to either Anaximander or Aristotle. They did not have the technology. They had the natural world and common sense. Stephen Hawking and co-author Leonard Mlodinow in The Grand Design acknowledged the fact that cosmology and theology share the same source. We know the origins because of Aristotle. He was a top theologian, a top scientist, and a bit of an historian. He was the first person to distinguish between physics and metaphysics. He wrote books and papers on the subject. His books put the Hellenistic in Hellenistic Judaism. Metaphysics was given its own history which went all the way back to Anaximander, the man who not so much found as invented the primary substance.

The people of Miletus already believed spirit was a substance because they thought man is spirit. I guess the primary substance was a kind of divine revelation. The early geniuses had that in common. Scientific revelation was a kind of divine revelation of the creator. Anaximander and Aristotle looked into the mind of God. Others looked but did not see so clearly. They got it wrong, and it showed in their philosophical conclusions. Aristotle who was more often right than not contributed to theology. Theology went unchallenged till 1939. We should not be surprised by its longevity. But with war came year zero. After the war theologians did not know any better than to carry on being theologians. By 2006 the world discovered Yahweh the God of War. By 2010 someone dared to suggest philosophy was dead.

Science is universal truth. Theology was once universal truth. The whole world was sold on a collective lie which was originally the mistake of one man. Anaximander started a scientific enquiry to satisfy scientific curiosity. He was prompted by Thales of Miletus (c. 620 BC - c. 545 BC) who proposed everything is made from water. There is a lot more to his suggestion, but it was a different time. It was a time when there was nothing Hellenistic about Judaism or Christianity or even Russia. In their bid to understand the natural world water, earth, air, and fire was proposed for the universal agent of creation. It was scientific curiosity. The four elements explained lots about the natural world but failed to explain man and reincarnation. They thought man was spirit and spirt was a natural substance.

The competition was on to be the first school of philosophy to come up with the theory of everything. The theory had to incorporate re-incarnation and transmigratory spirits which were popular beliefs of the day. It had to explain the life-death-life cycle. They did not distinguish between natural and supernatural or physics and metaphysics. Hawking and Mlodinow of the 21st Century traced cosmology back to Anaximander. They included the famous quote, All things arise from a primary substance and return to it, unless they pay fine and penalty for their iniquity. The father of cosmology is at the same time the father of theology. The theory of everything is a valid quest. When Aristotle made the distinction between physics and metaphysics, he did so without challenging the existence of a primary substance. The cosmological argument for the existence of God the primary substance was not challenged by Aristotle.

A purely physical universe was not arrived at till the 20th Century. Matter was the mysterious element, and it could be traced back to a hot dense primordial soup. Hawking was one of the fathers of the Big Bang theory. In 2010 he interpreted the laws of science to make it a lawful thing to say that God did not create the universe. In 2006 an evolutionary biologist used literacy to make it lawful to say God is a spaceman. History was once again the primary intellectual tool for understanding Yahweh the God of War and ethnic cleanser. In Russia nothing could be heard over the sound of propaganda. Worse still, 2013 saw the Kremlin pass laws making it punishable to insult people’s philosophical feelings. The Russian people swapped freedom of speech for faith. It was like Judea all over again. In Jesus’s time it was unlawful to say Yahweh or elicit a Yahweh from a bystander. The Judean people swapped truth for patriotism.

Both Aristotle and Hawking acknowledged Anaximander’s great contribution to Western civilisation. But there was a downside. He ended up leading the whole world astray with his spiritual conjecture. Aristotle was first to sense danger. He was alarmed by the Socratic consequence. We of the 21st Century know theocracies are totalitarian in nature. We share in the terror of Christian warfare through television. We see the delusion generated by propaganda. We get the bigger picture. We see sane people trying to escape conscription into the Russian Salvation Army. Aristotle responded to Socratic philosophy like it was a fascist threat to academic freedom.

They banned the teaching of evolution. Young people are routinely suffocated. True philosophical progress was stifled. Their world was denied of oxygen. They are drowning in faith. They made Moscow into the seat of worship and theocracy followed. Socratic philosophy was destroying his world and Aristotle hit out as hard as he could. Aristotle was first to say the primary substance did not create the universe. He was first to say God did not make the heavens and the earth. He turned the primary substance into the Unmoved Mover. He even tried to destroy the misconception that man is spirit. He introduced the biological soul. Greater good was done by Aristotle through anger than by being a purist. The same can be said for Dawkins and Sartre and Pasternak.

The attribute of creator was removed from the primary substance with the claim that it did not create man in deliberate and parental fashion. His Unmoved Mover suggested creation was incidental and even accidental. But modern science embodied in honest men knows the primary substance is all rubbish. Aristotle thought only of Socratic philosophy as rubbish and the ruin of humanity. Theology needed to be made safe. His biological soul helped distinguish between natural and supernatural and created a clear philosophical dividing line. Socrates claimed God had a part to play in daily life. It was a big part and even a togetherness, a sort of mind mild or spirit meld. Socrates took the primary substance out of the classroom and into the streets. Aristotle did his best to have it returned to the classroom. He could not believe Socrates had people praying to the primary substance.

Haters of the faith family acquired a friend and champion in Hawking who said, Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist. It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going. The primary substance was a mistake. It does not exist but before we could make that leap out of faith there had to be separation of God and creation. Spontaneous creation replaced divine creation. Physics replaced metaphysics. Matter replaced spirit. If God does exist, then creation is not deliberate and intentional but random and incidental. If the creator God does not exist faith is no more evidence of things not seen. Faith is evidence of delusion.

I know the primary substance is a mistake, a lie, deception, and delusion because I know God is a man. But that is another story. Aristotle did his best to bring spirituality to an abrupt end. He argued man is not spirit. The professor of biology argued man is wholly biological. The biological soul is the second-best weapon we have against the faith-heads. There is no point to creationist religion because God did not create the universe. There is no point to spirituality because man is not spirit. Aristotle ended up making spirituality complex. He forced philosophers into making choices. There was already the popular Socratic aspect to it. The Aristotelian aspect was introduced.

Primary substance practitioners had to choose between degrees of spirituality. For Aristotle philosophy was about science and education. It was about betterment of self and society. It was about improving the quality of life. Meanwhile, Socrates wanted everyone to be a theologian and thereby enter a relationship with God through knowledge about God. With that knowledge they could experience spirituality and interpret experiences as spiritual. Socrates made God into a personal God. In 2006 another biologist tried to bring spirituality to an abrupt end. He too did not believe in spirit. He went further than Aristotle and denied the existence of the primary substance. The young Dawkins was conscious of himself as a Christian. Symptoms of delusion had been institutionalized and he was living in a Christian world. His church was a school of philosophy. Delusion was forced upon the boy and that made him a lie and a liar. He was a part of the problem.

The love of science saved him. The delusion left him with a hollow feeling. But Richard Dawkins was not aware of Amanda Holden’s experience of the natural world. Amanda in 2011 experienced out of the body except it was not that. It was more than that. She experienced having two bodies at the same time. Giving rise to the possibility that the biological soul is a body. Dawkins was aware of dualism in terms of spirit and flesh or spirits in a material world or physics and metaphysics or matter and primary substance. He is also aware of dualism in terms of biology or what he calls innate dualism. The God Delusion addressed the issue of dualism and countered it with innate dualism. It was five years before Amanda Holden’s eerie experience of a body outside the body.

Dawkins acknowledged and described the phenomenon of innate dualism. He said, "Our innate dualism prepares us to believe in a soul which inhabits the body rather than being integrally part of the body. The scientist is brilliantly succinct when describing exactly what it is that faith-heads make of it. The dualist believes the mind is some kind of disembodied spirit that inhabits the body and therefore conceivably could leave the body and exist somewhere else". The apostle Paul must be the most famous dualist and faith-head of all time. But innate dualism is part of the human condition. We all experience it. Socrates (469 BC – 399 BC) derived special pleasure from it. He practically invented the creed we call spirituality around his dualist experiences. He made it his business to prepare the spirit for afterlife.

The public speaker could hear himself think while delivering speeches to a live audience. He planned and rehearsed what to say but sometimes thought interrupted and redirected him mid-flow. It was like someone else was in control. Socrates used to talk to himself and one day while talking to himself he realised he was talking to his other self. But he interpreted it as dualism, and he thought it was the primary substance giving him parental guidance. Innate dualism, biological soul, disembodied spirit, and double entity are some of the descriptions given to the same phenomenon. Primary Substance and Big Bang are two different approaches to cosmology. Disembodied spirit goes best with Primary Substance cosmology. Socrates involved the life-giving Primary Substance in every aspect of daily life. He made a parent out of it. He ended up creating a personality God.

The agent of creation did not always have a personality. There was no personality to speak of when Anaximander said, All things arise from a primary substance and return to it, unless they pay fine and penalty for their iniquity. He identified a process. He already believed in the disembodied spirit. He knew life experiences processed spirit to its destiny. Destiny involved a source spirit. The outcome for man was decided by man himself. If Anaximander got it wrong about a primary spirit and transmigratory spirits, then Socrates got it wrong. If Socrates got it wrong, then so did the apostle Paul. If Paul got it wrong, then Christianity has got it wrong. Man is not spirit and therefore there is no spiritual warfare going on. Spirit and flesh are not at war with each other. That is not a correct description of what is going on although the church of Paul does its very best to make it appear so. They educate people to think in a certain way.

Aristotle thought the theory of everything was plenty enough to be getting on with. Science was to liberate man by giving him a fuller understanding of himself and his world. It was the reason for education, for the schools of philosophy. The natural sciences validated the Primary Substance and vice versa. It was about intellectual discipline and acquiring intellectual tools to keep the pursuit going. He kept it going and it kept going into the 20th Century. We got
