Introduction

I stood in church that Christmas Eve, with a lit candle in my hand. The lights dimmed, and we were all met with the beautiful sight of our candles illuminating the room.

During that moment, a thought came to mind.

The Bible says we are the light of the world (See Matthew 5:14), but there are candles that have lost their light, the enemy coming at them in different ways until they quit.

Dear sister, you are the light of the world, and the enemy of your soul wants to blow your candle out, so that your light does not shine.

He does it through people who are being used as his tools, held captive to do his will (See 2 Timothy 2:26). He does it through circumstances, negative thoughts, and bringing to your mind the question, Did God really say? Are His promises true for me? as if you are somehow less than everyone else.

The enemy of your soul wants you to give up hope, give in to discouragement, throw in the towel, and think that God has abandoned you or won’t come through on your behalf.

Whether we like it or not, we find ourselves in the middle of spiritual warfare, when we are simply trying to live our lives for Jesus.

Which is where this Bible study comes in.

Each day you will find a tool that you can use to stand against the enemy and his ploys to take out your light. By the end of this study, you will be equipped to stand firm and let your light shine brightly in this dark world.

You will be stronger and equipped for the battles you face in this life.

Feel free to do this study individually or as a group, using the reflection questions to discuss the Scriptures covered that day. The study can be done in thirty days, or in 6 weeks time if you work through it at the rate of 5 days per week.

My prayer for you, however you implement the study, is that you will come away equipped with powerful prayers and tools to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand (See Ephesians 6:13).
