ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I want to thank God for my lifelong love of science fiction and the inspiration to write the 5th book of this series. I didn’t know that God was using my childhood love for Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, and many other great science fiction movies and television series to inspire the writing of The Galactic Warriors. Thanking my mother Ella Crutcher for supporting my love of science fiction
I want to thank my father the late James Allen Floyd for giving me life and a warrior mindset to overcome all the odds. He taught me that quitting should never be a part of the equation and that’s why I never give up on anything that I start.
Finally, I want to thank my #1 fan, classmate, and friend Laura for not only her support and encouragement, but also for her many years of friendship. She’ll never know how much I appreciate the enormous amount of personal and professional inspiration that’s came from her words of wisdom. She has truly been a blessing from God.

T wo years had passed since the allied forces of the Hedera System defeated Czar Xavier and his robotic armies. Since their liberation, with the help of the Galactic Warriors and the Neptonians, the Baltics have been working tirelessly to rebuild their outdated civilization so they can finally connect to the 51 st century. Gone are the days of herding animals through the hot and dry deserts, living under thatched roofs, and total ignorance of deep space travel. Their defense alliance with the allied planets of the Hedera System has allowed for a much-needed technological makeover to the Baltic Region of planets. This makeover, known as the Baltic Project, is a two-year agreement signed by Queen Alexandria, The High Council of Nebulan, and President Zacharia (President of the Baltic Region). With this alliance, the allied forces of the Hedera System agreed to provide military training, rebuild cities, impart agricultural and architectural training, and establish military basis in exchange for the Baltic citizens providing the labor to complete these projects. The Nebulites and Neptonians would furnish teams of engineers and military trainers, but the Baltic citizens would have to be willing to be trained to learn how to care for and defend their region in order to be responsible for their own fate and destiny. This was a clause that Queen Alexandria and the High Council were adamant about because Baltic was a region light years away from the Hedera System. Because of this distance, it would be nearly impossible to provide timely military assistance.
The Baltics now had 2 years to recreate their civilization and their collective mindset. This was the message that Alexandria was sending President Zacharia and the Baltic leadership. Either they would learn from their ordeal with Czar Xavier and become stronger or they keep their prehistoric mindsets and face destruction.
In other words, it was time for their society to grow up and they were going to have to do it in a hurry. The Nebulites and Neptonians were committed to training but not long term babysitting.
There were numerous discussions between Queen Alexandria and The High Council as to who would be in charge of the Baltic Project. The council didn’t want the bulk of their officers and soldiers 3 light years away an unable to defend the Hedera System for a two-year period. Even the fastest shuttles and Battlestars in their fleets, traveling at warp factor 4, could not make the journey from the Baltic Region to the Zartonian Galaxy in less than two weeks.
This was all the more reasons for them to motivate the Baltics to stand on their own two feet.
After a great deal of discussion and debate between Queen Alexandria and the High Council, it was decided that only a few officers were needed to oversee the engineers, construction crews and military training since the Baltics were going to provide the labor forces and cadets. The officers would be in charge of overseeing the mission and ensuring timely productivity. They would also be responsible for daily communications and updates with the council and the Baltic Government.
This is a mission that would require patience, attention to detail, sacrifice, and the understanding that they would be away from the Hedera System for the entire two years.
THIS MEANT NO FURLOUGHS OR VACATIONS.
In the mind of Alexandria, Akasha was the most qualified to lead this project. She successfully commanded a similar project on Neptonia and that experience would no doubt prepare her for the challenges of the Baltic Project.
But of course, the High Council initially objected to this nomination. They cited all types of military regulations and objections as to why an officer of a higher rank should oversee a project of this grand magnitude. But in the end, it was Alexandria’s persuasion and confidence in Akasha’s abilities that eventually changed their minds.
Lieutenant Akasha Jefferson was going to oversee the entire Baltic Project.
Alexandria also knew that there was something about Akasha that the council just didn’t like. They were always against giving her any opportunity to prove herself. Maybe it was because she was always thinking outside of that military box
that the council lives and breathes by. Maybe they still think of her as that undisciplined, foul mouthed 15-year-old (that was handpicked by the council) from two years ago. Whatever the case, Alexandria made it a point to stand by her. Her support of Akasha wasn’t intended to in any way disrespect the council; but because she truly believes in Akasha’s potential. Like the Baltics, it was now time for Lieutenant Akasha Jefferson to stand on her own two feet and make believers out of everyone; especially the High Council.
After Lieutenant Akasha Jefferson was officially selected to oversee the Baltic Project, she immediately chose Sergeant Major Darrel Dawson (DD) and his wife Corporal Regina Sims/Dawson to assist her. Their first duty would be putting together an engineering and construction team to oversee designing and building 51st century infrastructure in the Baltic Region. This was an area of the project that most felt would present the greatest challenge for the simple fact that the Baltics had never seen 51st century architecture and would now be tasked to building it. It was going to be a great chore for DD
and Regina to explain holographic blueprints to Baltic laborers that had never built anything more than 8ft tall thatch roof houses that didn’t contain any type of sophistication or indoor plumbing. This was in great contrast to the majority of house dwellings on their home planet of Nebulan. Houses that were 10 to 20ft tall, contained 5 to 6 bedrooms, wall mounted jumbotrons, voice activated kitchens, intergalactic video communications and numerous other technologies that were very foreign to the Baltic Region. This was indeed going to be the greatest challenge for their young military careers.
Queen Alexandria reluctantly sent Captain Slaughter to oversee the military training phase of the project. She truly didn’t like the idea of being without him for two years but knew that he would be the only one capable of turning completely green recruits into soldiers. Yes, the Neptonian army would be without its greatest soldier and leader, but Alexandria knew that he would give Akasha the best opportunity to be successful. She also knew that the Galactic Warrior training officers were too young and inexperienced for this type of training mission. Slaughter is not only the greatest Neptonian killing machine, but he’s also a man of patience and understanding. Both qualities will be necessary when it comes to training men that have never used a laser pistol or flown a starfighter.
All of this had to be taught in a matter of two years.
One of the biggest obstacles that quickly materialized for Akasha and her team was the Baltic Climate. They were working in 120-degree temperatures in the daytime and were dealing with 80-degree temperatures at night. There also wasn’t much rainfall to speak of on the planet except a 3 week stretch in the 6th month of the year. Because of this, most of the military training and construction took place before sunrise until about 10a.m; with work resuming around 4p.m. until about 8pm when temperatures were more bearable.
Due to this extreme climate, there were many days of discouragement, heat exhaustion, sun strokes, and other heat related illnesses. Despite all of these tribulations, the spirit of the Baltic people was never broken. Not one time did they revolt or complain because they understood that they were building a new civilization with their own blood, sweat, and tears. They knew that the future and stability of their planet was now in their hands. It was going to require hard work, sacrifice, and a new mentality in order for them to finally enter the 51st century.
It was quite possible that the hardships experienced under Czar Xavier prepared the Baltic People for this moment in time. This wasn’t slavery. It was 51st century progress. The year was 5014 and the Baltics were now on the brink of establishing a new history and a new culture.
In the two years since the Baltic Project began, the region of planets has seen a complete makeover under the command of Lieutenant Akasha Jefferson. Thatched roof homes have been replaced by neighborhoods of high-rise steel-built lofts that are completely furnished with the latest in computerized communications and cooking intelligence. These homes are comprised with jumbotrons, hologram capabilities and voice command cooking models that will make daily lives much easier for the Baltics.
Now Baltic cities have modern equipped schools, churches, shopping plazas and shuttle transportation systems. There are concrete roads to walk on instead of the hot sands of the desert. Military bases equipped with the latest in weaponry, star fighters and communication/radar systems now protect the planet. The mentality and the scenery are completely different that they were just two years prior.
The Baltic Region now looked unrecognizable. The planet had progressed 30 centuries in just two years.
The project had now reached its final two weeks before completion. Queen Alexandria and The High Council would be arriving for final inspection and a ceremony to officially ratify the alliance between the Baltics and the Allied Forces. Although Akasha had been briefing them weekly concerning the project’s progress, she knew that everything had to be in
