The Story Also Has An Unhappy And Happy Ending, With Her Barrenness Being Cured By The Aquatic Goddess Idemmili And Binyelum Evil In-Laws Dying Horribly As a Result Of The Hardships They Had Cursed Her.
FIRST CHAPTER: IDEMMILI
The thick tropical rainforest gave the surrounding area the appearance of a mountain of green forest, and most of the buildings were substantially built to withstand the continual flooding from the riverside during the rainy season. It was a lovely day, schools were closed, and a group of teenage males were yelling at the top of their lungs in Idemmili, insulting and criticising an unlucky teammate who missed the ball.
Who has family has everything?" is a native Idemmili song that Binyelum was singing while the sun was rising from the sea and pouring rays of hot, luminous beauty under her face. She then recalled that her husband, Chikanma, had asked her to make Ofe Owerri for him when he comes back for breakfast after leaving before dawn to hunt for bush meats.
Afamefuna! Afamefuna! Please come, let me send you; go help me buy okazi leaves from Mama Epkereamaka.
Afamefuna was so engrossed in the joy of sports that his auditory sense was entirely shut down by his aunt's warhorse shouts. Binyelum approached the young lad, perspiring and nervous. Afamefuna, can you not hear me?
I've been calling you; did you go deaf last night?". She drew him away from the other lads, who had stopped playing the ball and were concentrating their hearts and souls on the impending drama. This flagrant disregard for Afamefuna's pride made him feel as if the earth might open up and consume him.
What exactly is it?
Please leave me alone.
To the delight of his friends, he roared in rage. Are you shouting at me like that, Afamefuna?
Binyelum inquired. If it's you, what will you do?
Binyelum was pushed to her breaking point, and she let go with a thunderous slap on Afam's face. Oh, Mummy!
You've made my eyes blind! Afamefuna wailed, causing his mother, aunt, and grandmother to run down.
Binyelum, what's the problem? They approached Afamefuna, who was rolling on the ground like a snake whose head had been severed.
Wasn't it this witch Binyelum who slapped me on the face? He rose from the earth's surface, and despite his claims, his eyes were not blinded.
Binyelum, can you tell me what happened?"
Granny Chiasoke had asked Binyelum for an explanation. She didn't want another fight between Binyelum and the women in the compound. Mama, I forgot that my husband had asked me to make him Ofe Owerri, which he would eat when he returned this morning. Mama, see where I was standing.
She had pointed to her bucket from six feet away. I kept calling Afamefuna to help me get okazi leaves from Mama Epkereamaka, but Mama Afam ignored me as if I were an ant. Aduare even tried to call him, but he pushed his hands off, so I came to drag him away so he could go get the okazi leaves. Afam started fighting with me, tugging away while he was insulting me, so I slapped him.
Adaobi was unsettled, heaving heavily with intense rage, as she wanted to rush on Binyelum and rip her to shreds for touching her little boy. Granny gave her a stern look. You didn't do well, Binyelum; I told you to report to their parents whenever the kids offended you.
She turned to face Afamefuna and gripped his ears as if they were mushrooms from the farm. He shouted and shrieked like a big cat. How many times have I told you that you should respect your aunt?
Do you have a demon?
She whacked him on the back of the head. He dashed away like a rabbit. It's you I'm respecting, Mama!
Look at this... Grandma gave Adaobi a severe look that forced her to keep her mouth shut.
I don't want to hear any more feeee from you, Adaobi; go back to your kitchen. Grandma was dubbed
Old Soldier" because she was harsh and rugged, and the octogenarian was showing no signs of fading vigour. She would travel to the farm personally and chase down her mischievous grandkids and great-grandchildren, wrestling them like a professional wrestler.
Nobody stopped you from not having your own children to send; if Afamefuna refused to run errands for you, go and give birth to your own children. Since you came to this compound and you've been wasting my uncle's food on your barren stomach, that can only carry food and not babies, you should have had a child bigger than Afamefuna; twelve years nothing to show.
Grandma motioned to Adaugo Adaobi's eldest daughter to cease speaking, and Adaugo replied, Grandma, please allow me to speak to this woman!
I'm not sure what charm she's been using on my uncle, but he refused to pursue her for twelve years, and he refused to bring Ezinne and her child."
Binyelum couldn't take any more of her insults. Why can't you stay in your husband's house, Adaugo? Who runs back to their father's house with their children simply because their husband won't let them live like free women in brothels?
Adaobi got involved in the brawl. So you're a barren woman who can still talk?
No child for twelve years." Beatings was rained on by a mother and daughter who jumped on Binyelum. They threw punches and blows at her until blood began to flow from her nose, knocking Grandma to the ground as she struggled to stop their insane feast.
Afamefuna, who had returned to observe the civil war, stuck out his tongue with a cheeky smile and showed Binyelum the NTOOR sign. Binyelum's shirt and bra were ripped off as she fought to cover her breasts and buttocks in front of a crowd of jeering spectators. She hurried inside and locked herself. She cried for a long time until her childhood best friend Chisimdi knocked on the door, and she unlocked it for her to come in. Why do you enjoy inflicting pain on yourself, Binyelum?
I instructed you to complete your tasks on your own! Why do you continue to send
