Chapter One
Crystal walked slowly down the street, her eyes darting around, scanning for signs of one of the drug dealers she regularly bought from. The bright neon lights of the strip clubs and bars illuminated her pale face, her hair was wild and unkempt. She wore a tight tank top and a short skirt, her body was emaciated and frail.
She stepped into a dark alley, her heart pounding as she heard the sound of voices and laughter coming from the other side of the road. She was almost shaking now, her body craving the drug that had become her only solace. She rounded the corner and saw a group of men loitering in the shadows.
Crystal walked towards them, her head down, her voice barely above a whisper. I need some Meth,
she said, her voice barely audible. Can you help me?
The men looked at her in disbelief, their eyes narrowing. One of the men stepped forward and grabbed her arm, a cruel glint in his eye. Who sent you?
he said, his voice menacing. Do you think we’re stupid? You think you can just come here and buy drugs?
Crystal shook her head, her eyes filling with tears. She felt like she was going to faint, her body trembling from the withdrawal. Please,
she begged. I just need some help. I’m desperate.
The man softened, his grip loosening a bit. He looked her up and down, his face a mix of pity and disdain. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a bag of Meth, handing it to her with a grunt after he snatched her cash.
Get out of here,
he said gruffly. And don’t come back short again.
Crystal nodded, her fingers trembling as she took the bag. She stumbled out of the alley, her heart pounding, her body shaking as she hurried away. She had gotten her fix, but she knew she’d have to be more careful next time.
Crystal was in her bedroom, the only place she felt safe. She had done this many times before, but there was something comforting about the ritual of getting high that made her feel comforted. She had her supplies laid out on the bed next to her and she was ready to begin.
The first thing she did was to open the small baggie, she had bought from the dealer in the alley. Inside was her beloved Methamphetamine, a white rock salt type of substance that she had become addicted to. She carefully measured out a small amount of the drug, using the spoon she had acquired from a local restaurant.
Once she had the correct amount, she placed the powder on a plastic spoon and held it over a candle flame. The flame heated the drug and soon it started to vaporize and give off an intense and slightly sweet smell. Crystal felt a wave of euphoria as the Meth began to take effect and she closed her eyes, allowing the drug to take her away.
Crystal felt her body become lighter and her mind become clearer. She felt like she could do anything, like she was invincible. She felt strong and powerful and in control, like nothing else mattered in the world. She felt like she was soaring through the sky, higher and higher with each passing second.
The high was Intense and lasted for hours. She slowly stood, and she faintly looked around her bedroom, the walls were lined with a thick, dark paper, and her curtains were drawn tight. The only light was from a single candle that was burning low. Crystal was pacing back and forth, her head darting this way and that way, her eyes wide and her breath coming in shallow gasps. She was mumbling to herself, her words coming out in a jumbled, incoherent stream.
Crystal was tweaking off methamphetamine, and the drug had taken full effect. Her skin was pale and her pupils were huge, her hands trembling and her jaw clenched tight. She felt like she was going to burst out of her own skin, like she was a caged animal desperate to escape. She was running her hands through her hair and scratching her arms, her movements becoming more frantic and desperate.
The room seemed to be spinning around her, and she felt
