About this ebook
All of Europe west of the river Rhine lies under the hand of Carthage. Ruled jointly from the south, Carthage itself, and north, Mai Dan in Britain, the empire appears to be at peace. There are three firebrands within the empire, two of whom are looking for further conquests to cement their place and perhaps their children's future within the society that has assimilated them. It is 48 BC can Hanno, a descendant of his legendary namesake, keep a leash on the ambitions of a certain Julius Caesar and his adversary Vercingetorix.
David Bowman
Born in 1956 in the East Anglian Fens in England, David moved to Nottingham to study for his business degree. In line with the current myth of the time, he met and married a local girl, and they have now been married for 44 years. They still live within 10 miles of Nottingham and have two adult children, and have happily become grandparents five times over. Following a career in software development and IT management, David was forced to give up work in 2005 to look after both his wife and daughter, both of whom were suffering from different life-threatening illnesses. To fill the time and take his mind off of the domestic and financial issues, David eventually turned to his love of both photography and writing. Seven Sisters was the first product of the latter and has been followed by a prodigious number of works.

Dedication
History is written by the winners; for if treason succeeds none dare call it treason? I find the concepts this reveals to be fascinating. I can bore the teeth off anyone at twenty paces at parties if you get me going. Hopefully I won’t bore you here. My thanks as ever to the people who encouraged me to write as a means of escaping the sometimes dreadful realities of life. I truly hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as I did writing them
Carthaginian Empire – Episode 22: European Union
Hanno looked at the report in front of him and shook his head sadly before lifting his gaze to study the man who had presented it to him.
Vercingetorix would do this, are you sure?
Julius nodded. The years since his stunning victory hadn’t treated him well. Although his adopted country had heaped titles, rewards and riches beyond counting on him, the natural spark that had driven him to conquer Gaul was gone.
Then why haven’t you gotten yourself involved in this venture?
The Gaul would not have me.
Ah! . . . I see. The rivalry is still as bitter as ever.
"Of course.
