"There is no-one who is afflicted by distress and grief, and says:

 

'Allahumma inni 'abduka ibn 'abdika ibn amatika naasyati bi yadika, maada fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qadaa'uka. As'aluka bi kulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka aw anzaltahu fi kitaabika aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghayb 'indaka an taj'al al-Qur'aana rabee' qalbi wa noor sadri wa jalaa' huzni wa dhihaab hamm'

 

but Allah will take away his distress and grief, and replace it with joy."

    Introduction

    This book is derived from two lectures of the Shaykh (May Allah protect him) and describes in detail the benefits of remembrance of Allah and also explains the Authentic Hadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him):

    The Lecture

    All praise is due to Allaah, Lord of everything that exists.

    I testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah alone without any partners (associates).

    And I testify that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is His slave and messenger.

    May Allaah send His Peace and Blessings upon him, his family and all of his companions (Sahaabah).

    O Allaah, we don’t have any knowledge except what You have taught us.

    O Allaah, teach us that which will benefit us and increase us in our knowledge.

    And rectify for us all our affairs, and do not leave us to our own even for a blink of an eye.

    O Allaah, make us from those people who remember You, those who are grateful (shukr) towards You, repentant to You, humble and obedient towards You.

    O Allaah, accept our repentance (tawbah), wash our sins, make our evidence firm, guide our hearts, make our tongues upright and remove the resentment from our hearts.

    O Allaah, we ask from you a sound heart and a truthful tongue.

    And we ask that you make us of those who are grateful for Your bounties and to worship You in the best manner.

    And we ask you to grant us success in what You love and are pleased with, from upright statements and righteous deeds, and to not leave us to ourselves for even a blink of an
