How Interior Designers Charge for Their Services - Virginia I Smith
INTRODUCTION
Interior design is a multifaceted profession comprising of many niches within this category of the building industry. Just as it is complex and diverse, so is its payment structures too. If you are a beginner designer, a freelancer, or an experienced professional, there is a possibility that you do not have a defined method of billing your clients. If you fall into this group, you are not alone.
Many professional interior designers have found themselves in terrible circumstances where they lose a huge chunk of revenue from a project simply because their pricing is flawed. And many beginners starting-off haven’t a clue as to how best to approach this pricing issue either.
Some interior designers don't know their worth, so they do not know how to charge appropriately. On the one hand, they don’t want to overcharge and perhaps lose the opportunity of getting the contract while on the other hand, they don’t want to undercharge a client and subsequently lose huge sums of money.
With this book, which should be considered as a pricing guide, interior designers will learn about all the billing structures relevant to their business. They will become more confident about the choices they make concerning charging methods. At the end of it all, the client is happy, the interior designer is pleased, and the design project ends up a huge success.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
