PREFACE

Growing up Roman Catholic gave me a wonderful foundation. Of course, all religions contain elements of that which are sacred and that which are of the man-made, including interpretation, subjectivity, as well as aspects of the less than perfect human perspective and desires. The good news is that God meets us where we are, and so we move forward from that vantage point. As a young girl, I recall questioning some of the churches’ protocol and rituals. It was my mother who clearly taught me that there was often a difference between man’s way and God’s way. I’m so grateful for that distinction and realize it may have been one of the most valuable lessons that I was privileged to learn about when it comes to the meaning of spirituality. The example I will offer you is in reference to the sacrament of communion and confession. Even as a young girl, I loved talking to God, and the truth be known, I love talking, so it seemed like a long time between confession sessions, as I refer to them, to clear my heart of wrong doings. For non-Catholics, this is when you have a private session, with the priest, to confess your sins. I was nearly in tears, at my mom’s side because I had been unkind to a friend, and I need to talk to the priest ASAP! It’s humorous to think of it, but from a child’s perspective, it was vitally important. Ever so wisely, my mom sat me down and told me Andrea, you can talk to God every minute of every day and night, and that includes confessing your sins. And believe me I did and continue to do so. When I was in my late teens to early 20’s I battled depression along with many other physical health issues that eventually required 6 major surgeries.  In my despair, I sought out God Generic, something that I write about in my book Out of the Ordinary. If there wasn’t a God or higher power, I was screwed. If there was, I wanted to know who or what he was, and my Catholic background and knowledge of Jesus disappeared for the moment because I was open to whomever he was and would follow him or her for dear life, and for the rest of my life. What seemed like 1000 mornings, I would get down on my knees and seek, day after day, searching for my beloved creator.  And then things slowly began to shift in miraculous and uncanny ways.  Signs would appear, and I was given Divine direction that led me back to Jesus Christ. By the hand of God, I was eventually led to a non-denominational church (which I never knew of or experienced as such) and my life began taking substantial turns for the better in all aspects, including my health and the surgeries needed etc.

Coming forward in time, I have worked in many capacities, but one capacity is, as a Reiki Master Therapist, assisting countless clients over the years.  In working with people, from various walks of life, I’ve come to realize how many of us are not living in our full God given power and too many of us are settling for less than our Divine best!

This book is written for those who need to embrace their personal power through the lens of their Divinity and live a healthy, confident, God empowered life. May you discover your birthright, may you be strengthened, made whole and happy. My prayer is that this book will help you achieve that in big and small ways.

INTRODUCTION

Empowerment is a word that commands attention. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and speak it slowly to yourself while concentrating on the word.  For some, the word may bring about a sense of confidence and assurance, while others may experience thoughts or feelings of reluctance, apprehension or even fear. This can be especially true for those who’ve learned to survive as pleasers. Pleasers often seek solace and safety in shrinking back and going along with dominant /aggressive authority type figures such as a parent, teacher, spouse, religious leader, etc. This usually stems from childhood wounding, that posed to be threatening if the person tried to exercise their personal power.  In either case, empowerment speaks boldly of capability while emanating the potential for greatness.

Individuals who find themselves blocked from living an empowered life are often those who haven’t found the capacity to embrace a healthy concept of personal power and the potential to live a life that reflects such. Every human being has a birthright to live a life of potency.  When we start to realize that all are God’s children, a shift begins to take place. We go from accepting the lesser to claiming the Divine greater. This book longs to assist those who are struggling with self-worth, those who feel prevented from leading a life of strength and significance.

We lose power when we worry, are in physical discomfort, or feeling concern for our safety, the list goes on and on. These stressors place us under a power drain and as we seek Divine empowerment there will still be power drains, but the goal of this book is to lessen those drains while walking boldly and courageously through this life. It must be said that the way to Divine authentic power is always channeled through how you process your feelings through the heart energy center. The idea isn’t to store up your energy and stockpile it away. The goal, most importantly, is to become a steady inflow and outflow of energy. When we get too far off the balance point, we become dull, lethargic, and uninterested, but far beneath lies a myriad of deeper emotions. When you lose energy in any other way except through strength, trust, and love, you will experience a power drain. We will thrive, progress, evolve and become Divine instruments of power, if we can learn how to express our emotions from heart to heart, without feeling threatened by another’s honesty. Our survival is so dependent upon our ability to learn what Divine Empowerment truly means. Watching another person come into their true power is far from boring, it’s one of my great passions and has elevated me each time that I’ve been a witness to someone embracing their Godly intended power. Won’t you journey with me, as we uncover, discover, and recover our Divine heritage.

Exposing the Lie

Let’s face it, whether you take it literally or figuratively, dysfunction entered the world, as far back as the Genesis of mankind, in the garden of Eden. For those of you who find no credence in the story, I ask that you ride along with me on this thought train. As Joni Mitchell prolifically expresses in the song Woodstock, we are stardust, billion-year-old carbon, caught in the Devil’s bargain, in other words, humanity bought into a lie and has been back peddling ever since. As a collective conscience, we tend to believe that our Ego (Illusionary device) and as I also like to call it, Edging God Out, relies on the lie of addictions, war, misuse of sex, money, drugs, and stature to elevate our species. This couldn’t be further from the truth. But nevertheless, mankind took the bait for Ego (the Devil’s deal) by way of instant gratification, through the enormity of the gift of free will, to choose plan B (which was commanded by God for us not to do). And so, the dominos fall, and in that fall, we’ve lost our sense of what it’s like to be Divinely empowered and live Divinely empowered lives. Generation after generation, whether king or pauper, we operate in a fraudulent version of our grandeur and what that grandeur truly means. Our lives both individually and collectively have suffered dearly for it. So, what do we do? We reach back for the Divine power that was originally intended for us.  This is the power that will enlighten our species and move us forward. A tall order? Oh yes! Worthy of the climb? Far beyond anything else that we can strive for.  So, let’s explore Divine empowerment first, by exposing the counterfeit narrative.
