About this ebook
Salvie swims upstream, but a tall dam looms in the way! Will she get eaten by Roy the Eagle, or will she strike a bargain with him?
Salvie, an adult trout, feels it's time to go upstream and become a mom! Following the pull of the Susquehanna River, she swims upstream. There, in one of the tributaries with fast-moving, cold water and a shady canopy of trees sheltering the creek, hide her traditional spawning grounds.
She swims and swims - until she finds a dam.
Another dam! Unlike the other dams, this one looms too big to jump.
A young eagle watches her with a patient, hungry eye.
It takes Molly the Raven to teach Roy, the rowdy eagle, the wisdom of helping others. Even when they look like a tasty dinner.
It takes a nocturnal strategy session with a pod of young eel as they develop a plan.
Read on and follow this environmental, educational story suitable for all ages! You will find original artwork to print and color at the very end.
Author Kate Pavelle, who co-wrote the "Heritage Cookies of the Old and New World" cookie cookbook, wrote this story. It's illustrated by Lee Pavelle from Ithaca College, and published by Mugen Press.

The Big Trout Adventure - Kate Pavelle
CREDITS and ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
This is the first River Friends story I wrote. After it received enthusiastic acclaim, I wrote the eel story. The eel story is fully illustrated as a coloring book. It will take a while to turn the trout story into a coloring book as well, but be patient. It will happen this year!
Before you dive into the story of eel and how it affects our freshwater quality, or before you start coloring the line art images that come along with it, I would like to acknowledge the following people and organizations, who made this effort possible:
Lee Pavelle, for drawing the fabulous illustrations
Miranda Pavelle, for acting as an artistic advisor
Scott Pavelle, Esq., for donating his legal services
Dr. Lisa Hollingsworth-Segedy of American Rivers, for her faithful encouragement
Enjoy reading, coloring, and learning! To find about the many ways we can all help protect our fresh water supply, visit American Rivers at
www.americanrivers.org.
Thank you,
Kate Pavelle
THE BIG TROUT ADVENTURE

Another hot day! But they
