    PART ONE

    Mustafa

A nine-year-old Nigerian boy was rescued after watching an attack on his village by guerrilla warriors. He witnessed his mother and sister being murdered. His mother was able to hide him in a nearby brush area. His little sister had been playing with her little friends just as the men entered their village. Mustafa watched his mother and sister raped and their bodies mutilated, as he also heard the villagers’ cries and screams. Mustafa saw his father and older brother forced into trucks and taken away by the warriors.

Mustafa’s mother made him promise not to peep, remain hidden, and be very quiet, to close his eyes and cover his mouth. He didn’t do as he was told. He saw his mother attempt to fight the evil men off, but still he witnessed their torture, rape, and murder before his very eyes.

There were other women and little girls beaten and raped, their throats slashed and their bodies slaughtered. Older girls were taken away in trucks by the warriors while some other men burned down their village. Mustafa now knew he would never see his father and brother again.

When the government troops finally arrived, they found him hidden in the brush. Mustafa’s father had told him that the army was good and their friend and there to help them. But this time, they were late. His mother and sister were dead, and he didn’t know where they had taken his father and brother. Mustafa felt he could have helped his family and the people in their village.

Once the army men found him, he was in shock and traumatized.

He was taken to a hospital where there were other people that had suffered and experienced the same as his village. Some had come from distant villages. Many of the people spoke different dialects. Many babies and younger children were placed in orphanages just like he was.

It was later when a white couple from London, England, read a newspaper article about Mustafa’s experience in Africa. Giving it a lot of thought, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Joy went to a Christian agency where Mustafa and many other children were placed. After deciding to adopt Mustafa and with some difficulty applying for adoption, the Joys went to the African government and then the British and African embassies. Finally, they were approved to adopt Mustafa. It was not an easy process. There was a lot of red tape with many lawyers and in the court system in Africa.

The Joys were about to give up hope when their petition was granted. Mustafa was a beautiful ten-year-old boy with gorgeous black curly hair and large sparkling brown eyes and a smooth black complexion. He was surprisingly healthy and with no need for special medical attention. He would possibly need some mental and adjustment counseling. They would just think that Mustafa was their son after the many years they had been childless.

After a time living in England, Mustafa adjusted to his new life. He loved having the Joys as his new family. He was eager to learn and was exceptional in his studies. There was a lot of tutoring in his academics and adjustment to this culture in this country and other parts of the world. The Joys did a lot of traveling. It was somewhat difficult at first, understanding and adjusting to the ways of other cultures.

The learning process for Mustafa was not harsh or forceful. With all his tutoring, Mustafa had a high IQ in his learning capability. Eventually, Mustafa went on to study medicine at the University of London, England. After several years of being away from Africa, he had a deep-seated hate for the country, a feeling that he never grew out of. Mustafa had no problems with the fact he was black. He had friends. Many people knew of the trauma he had to face; of course, many people were aware of it from the news coverage.

Mustafa never gave much time to socializing. He always felt his studies were more important. It was a few years after he was doing his residence that Mustafa met a blond-haired nurse by the name of Sara. He was surprised that a beautiful woman was interested in dating him. She often teased him about how dedicated he was to his work. He never was the type of person to be wrapped up in hanging out with a gang of doctors and nurses. Sara was assigned to the London Emergency Urgent Care Unit, which was the area where Mustafa was the residency doctor.

With a lot of persuasion, Sara urged Mustafa to attend the Christmas party. It was soon after that he and Sara became serious about each other. Once Mustafa finished his residency, he and Sara got married. He soon decided to go into cardiology. The Joys persuaded Mustafa and Sara to live with them until Mustafa completed his studies.

Once Mustafa had established a practice of his own, the couple purchased a spacious home outside London. It was two years later when Mustafa had his own private practice and his surgical patients when he and Sara had a baby boy. They named him Samuel Aaron after his adoptive father. He was a pretty baby with curly black hair and hazel eyes like his mother.

Mustafa was a proud father, excited about rushing home to spend as much time with Sara and the baby. He loved his little family. Mustafa would sit for hours holding and cuddling their son, staring at baby Aaron, feeding him and smiling at him. Soon afterward, they would fall asleep.

Often, Mustafa now thought about how precious his family was to him and the fact that Mr. and Mrs. Joy had rescued him from the memories of his childhood in Africa, that he would never return. It was terrible; he would never want to think his family would ever face conditions like that. He read today that things had not changed. He had to accept that life there was about as it was when he was a young boy, watching his mother and sister slaughtered.

It wasn’t long before baby Aaron was walking, talking, eventually growing up with his own ideas about life. He had his own interest in his future, and it wasn’t medicine. Aaron studied hard as his father had done. But Aaron was only interested in engineering, wanting to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. As Aaron started growing as a small boy, he would practice building little things with his grandfather. Samuel Joy spent his life as an engineer.

Eventually, Mustafa, Sara, and Aaron’s grandfather agreed to send Aaron away to America at the University of Boston, Massachusetts, to study engineering. But in Aaron’s third year of college, the Ebola outbreak occurred in Africa. Mustafa had sworn he would never return to his homeland.

Mustafa felt guilty for not doing all he could for the people. He had the medical knowledge that he could help in some kind of capacity. He put his pride behind him; there was a great need for doctors.

Pleading with Sara to stay behind and not join him, his arguments were a lost cause. Her insistence won. The two of them could do a lot of good. Aaron was away at school so there was no reason for not going with Mustafa.

Sara followed him to Africa. The conditions there were harsh, no medicine was enough. Sickness and death were all around them. There wasn’t much time to contact their family back home. A year later, Mustafa took ill. It took a toll on everyone—the family back home, Aaron away at school. Mustafa and Sara felt that their presence would help. The news was devastating. Aaron wanted to return home; but his family, the Joys, Mustafa, and Sara insisted that he remain in school.

As Mustafa became worse, he wanted Sara to return to London and be there with the family. Of course, she refused to leave Mustafa’s side. He had so much hope for Aaron and the boy’s future.

Sara refused to leave her husband’s bedside, and Mustafa died a month later. It was said Sara couldn’t face losing Mustafa. Six months later, Sara faced the same fate.

Mustafa and Sara never got to see Aaron graduate a few years later after the latter lost his parents over in Africa. There was so much tragedy for the Joy family. Before starting his new life in America, Aaron met a pretty librarian named Ruth. She was blonde like his mother. Ruth swore Aaron used the same excuse he was studying every day by coming to the library. Finally, he asked Ruth out on a date. She knew he was up to something, always teasing and calling her Goldilocks.

Many of Aaron’s school friends called him the son of the great doctor. There were those who never used his real given name. Aaron had several nicknames for Ruth, one of which is the book lady.

Six months later, Aaron was offered a job in New York before he could even complete his studies. The engineering company promised Aaron he could complete his classes there. The company would pick up the cost. He couldn’t see leaving Ruth behind. They quickly married, leaving his grandparents behind. But they urged the couple to make a wonderful life for themselves.

Aaron had a good job as an assistant director of operations. It required a lot of traveling to oversee operations on different assignments away from Ruth. A year later, Aaron and Ruth had a little girl with the prettiest golden hair and hazel eyes. Aaron would call her his princess. They named her Amber because of the color of her eyes. As she grew older, Amber’s hair was a light copper streaked with the color of gold. Amber was, of course, a daddy’s girl.

Aaron and Ruth were able to find a nice home close to Ruth’s sister and her husband Frank. Whenever Aaron was away on assignments, Ruth would have family nearby. Aaron was out of the country so often he was missing out on time with his family. Amber was growing up like a weed. They would spend so much time together. He surprised Amber one day when she arrived home from school. He knew his daughter loved looking out her bedroom window. She would spend hours just watching the birds from her window. Often, Ruth had to urge her to get dressed and go down for breakfast before she was off to school. Aaron built a window seat for Amber.

Amber, now eleven years old, remembered she would sit on her dad’s lap. Often, they would watch the things Aunt Helen did or said. Aaron would whisper in Amber’s ear, She’s a crazy old bat. Ruth would sometimes overhear them and get mad. They would laugh, never letting Aunt Helen hear.

Aaron hated Africa from the way Mustafa talked about what he experienced there. But at the promise of his job, they said this would be his assignment over there, to supervise the building of a new bridge.

Ruth and Amber were overwhelmed hearing the news. Aaron promised they would spend the entire summer in London. They would visit Amber’s great-grandparents. She loved chasing the sheep out in the pasture and going to the river to feed the ducks.

This was Aaron’s last trip to Africa. Amber was eleven years old and looked forward to having her daddy home for good. Still as an engineer, but back home. When the news came, it was devastating. Mother was in shock and was hospitalized for a long time. She would go into a deep depression.

There had been an explosion, trapping Aaron in the ruins. The country and his job couldn’t find all his body parts to return home. Amber was sad but had to comfort her mother. She couldn’t lose both of her parents. The family had experienced so much tragedy—Mustafa, Sara, and now Aaron. It was difficult for everyone. Amber had to be strong for her mother. How was she going to do this? She was only eleven years old. She hurt as well as the rest of the family. But all from her young age until reaching adulthood, she was still hurting over her father’s death and being over in Africa.

With the help of many doctors, Ruth was sometimes back to herself. Amber grew up with her beloved window seat, which was still an important thing of her childhood without a father. Ruth returned to working as a librarian, which helped some. The job’s death benefits were not that much; worker’s compensation wasn’t paying out much. The family all pitched in. Once Amber reached the age to go away to college, she received scholarships. It was hard, but Amber went on to the university that Aaron attended. Everyone encouraged her to go, not letting the chance to get away.

Amber went on to receive her master’s degree. The family pushed her to not waste her future. Aunt Helen and Uncle Frank helped Ruth get through those hard years.

    PART TWO

    Book Two

Hello, my name is Amber Aaron Joy, named after my deceased father, whom I loved and well all my living days. He was so special to me, just like he was to my grandfather, Mustafa, to whom this book is dedicated. He was the Nigerian boy rescued from Africa. I never got to see him, but history follows him.

I am the daughter of Samuel Aaron Joy. I just received my master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, where my father attended and then received his degree in engineering. My family had a close bond, so much so that they arrived here in Massachusetts, surprising me with their presence to attend this special occasion with me.

We reside in Kneybreury, New Jersey; therefore, my family had to travel a long way to Massachusetts. Kneybreury is an inlet off the coastline of New York and New Jersey. The nearest airport is in Newark, New Jersey, or the one in New York. There’s traveling by coastal airplane; finally you can travel by ferry. It’s one or the other.

It took an effort for my family to be here. I’m happy and excited to see them. It’s been a long distance for them to fly here. My surviving great-grandparents live in London, England. I don’t see them as often as I like, with me being in school. My grandparents were Mustafa and Sara Joy. Everyone talked a lot about Dr. Mustafa; he was very smart. I was told a lot about his life in Nigeria, Africa. I can’t help but admire him and Grandmother Sara. I wish I could have met them. They died in Africa trying to help the people during the Ebola outbreak.

Now that I have graduated and returned home to Kneybreury, the family wants to celebrate by having dinner in New York. I know they want to sit down and try to encourage me to return to school and get my PhD. I’m not intending to be a doctor or lawyer. It’s only because Mustafa was a doctor and they want to see me have a good career. It would be good to be able to help out the family after what they’ve done to see me graduate. I had taken a few jobs to help out at home and the expenses of schooling. What Mom got from Dad’s benefits didn’t amount to anything. Therefore, she returned to work as a librarian.

Now going out to dinner, after everything today, I am tired and should be. They’ve flown all the way to and from my graduation. I wonder what kind of drugs did Aunt Helen have them on. I love them dearly; I feel we all need a break after today. I’m so grateful for everything they sacrificed. But for right now, I need to chill. I’m tired. There are résumés I have to follow up on. I’m searching for a new horizon.

Now arriving home, I need to dress for the dinner engagement. I selected a simple black dress that reached just below my knees and draped low on my back, the only fancy dress I have. I accented it with a white pearl necklace and a pair of white pearl droplet earrings.

We arrived at a fancy Manhattan restaurant in New York. A doorman opened the double brass doors for us to enter. From there, the maître d’, dressed in a white tux, checked the guest list and then ushered us to our table. Soft relaxing music played. Several crystal chandeliers hung from the various areas of the ceiling. Each table was draped in white linen tablecloths. Elaborate fine china and silver adorned the table. With charming crystal water goblets and wine, along with champagne glasses, the entire scene was breathtaking, it was just alluring. A well-dressed waiter, dressed in a tux, pulled Aunt Helen’s, Mom’s, and my chairs out for us to be seated. Uncle Frank was on his own in sitting.

I felt ashamed at having an ungrateful attitude about coming out tonight. My family had gone to great expense and trouble to do all this for me. Once we looked over the menu, we placed our order. In the meantime, we spent the waiting time sharing chitchat and glancing around at the beautiful decorations. I was overwhelmed noticing the elegantly dressed diners, not to say that we weren’t nicely dressed. Once our meal was served, Uncle Frank insisted on having a bottle of wine to go with our dinner in celebration of this important occasion. We all were enjoying our meal when suddenly, Aunt Helen startled us all. She directed our attention to a gorgeous couple now walking into the room. The couple drew the attention of everyone, at least our table. In the meantime, we had ordered dessert with an assortment of dishes. I couldn’t imagine eating some of the many delectable dishes.

Again, Aunt Helen sat staring at the handsome man and his date. He was gorgeous with his shiny black ponytail hanging down the back of his head. I had seen guys with their hair pulled back in such a fashion, but none of them had their hair looking like this man’s. He was dressed in a black tux. There was a beautiful blonde draped on his arm. God, they looked attractive together. His date or wife, whichever it was, was wearing this creamy satin evening gown that plunged from the back of the dress to her ass.

Several waiters dashed to the couple’s table to assist in their seating. Uncle Frank stated that they didn’t assist him in being seated.

That makes the difference, remarked Aunt Helen. Look at them. There was a waiter bringing out champagne in a bucket of ice. The couple hadn’t even placed their order yet. They must have called in advance to order what they intended to eat. There were trays of appetizers introduced to them. We hadn’t even seen a menu brought out to them.

We continued chitchatting, but instead, Auntie intensely stared over at the couple. We all paused in our conversation when Aunt Helen announced that she knew the man from TV or some movie. We all turned around, directing our attention to what she was talking about. She remained on this kick about the couple across the room. As we were completing our meal and talking, we failed to take notice of Auntie. Believe it or not, Aunt Helen grabbed her napkin and dashed over to the table where the recent-arriving couple sat.

All eyes in the room noticed her dashing across the room to the table where the couple was seated. What the hell! Look at her, I declared to Mom and Uncle Frank. What is she doing? We couldn’t believe what we were witnessing. I guess other diners couldn’t believe it as well. These people around us started glancing over at us. I turned to the diners to see that they knew that the crazy woman was with us.

What is she doing? I’m certain she doesn’t know those people. Please, Uncle Frank, go get her. She’s embarrassing us.

We could hear the other diners seated around us as they also began looking at Aunt Helen and then back at us. Everyone knew very well that the woman was with us. We continued hearing their whispers and remarks.

Uncle Frank, please go get her. She doesn’t know that man. Mom, do something. That’s your sister, you know how she can be. She’s making a fool of herself and us right along with her. Look around! Do you see all these people looking at us?

Well, if she says she knows him, then maybe she does, replied Uncle Frank.

How would we know someone like that? I stated. I was beginning to get really mad now. Here my uncle sat, stating that she possibly did know the people. The diners still seated around us were really beginning to get anxious. I noticed the gentleman continuously looking over at our table.

See, these people know that she’s crazy. Why do things always happen like this once Aunt Helen starts drinking? She doesn’t even need to drink that much before it goes to her head.

Amber, quit worrying, stated Uncle Frank. Maybe she really knows the couple.

How in the world do you both think that she knows those people? exclaimed Amber. We need to get out of here before we get kicked out of this place!

Well, he may be the man that owns the fish market around the corner. You know, over on Sixth Street. We all took another closer look.

That man isn’t someone that she would know from any fish market. Now see, he keeps looking over here at us, said Amber. Maybe he’s wondering like me just why someone wouldn’t come get the woman. There she is with her damn napkin spread out for him to sign. Mom, go get your sister.

They seem to be talking, remarked Uncle Frank. Maybe she does know him. They seem to be carrying on a conversation.

Everyone’s carrying on a conversation about us. Wait until these people get home—they’ll have a story to tell. This crazy woman went over and started talking to . . . whoever the man is. There she keeps directing his attention over to us. Then suddenly, just like them, the other diners seated around Amber’s table noticed the maître d’ approaching the couple’s table. Oh Lord, we’re going to get kicked out!" Everyone in the place was watching now. Their whispers had gotten louder, and Amber actually was able to make out their words.

Just before the man reached the couple’s table, the gentleman waved him away. He started walking toward our table as Aunt Helen was accompanying him. Oh God, what has she done now? She’s bringing him over here. I took a quick look around us; everyone was now focused on us. I’ll be damned if this is the most embarrassing thing that could ever happen to us. I wished a hole would open up in the floor and I could fall in. Do you know there were diners from several tables away from ours that were standing to see what was going on? Damn, damn! What is she doing? The couple had drawn a lot of attention when they walked into the room! Hell, there was attention now.

Oh my God! As much as I wanted to walk away from this table, I could have died. He was one the most gorgeous, handsome man I ever laid eyes on. Here my aunt comes and brings him over here to our table. I could die. Damn her! This is embarrassing. Perhaps he was embarrassed as well that he needed to get her away from him and his lady friend. I took a quick glance over at her, and she didn’t look happy. I would say she seems annoyed.

Hello there, he said, smiling at us. He pulled Auntie Helen’s chair out for her to be seated. Again he smiled, and for some reason, he started looking my way as he greeted us again. I could have died right there. I knew all the other patrons were staring at us. I’m going to kill her, I said to myself.

He had the most beautiful blue eyes that I ever saw. I know I’m crazy as well as my aunt, but I swear those eyes sparkled; maybe it was just the lighting in here. And there were those dimples. Oh God, he’s gorgeous! I tried turning my head away from his intense stare at me. I couldn’t concentrate on what he was saying for the fact that I wanted out of there.

Finally drawing his eyes from mine, he went on to state, Mrs. Helen here told me this was a celebration. He then turned his face to look back into mine.

I hear that you had just graduated and received your master’s. That takes a lot of studying, he said then smiled, still looking at me, or at least I thought he was still staring at me.

Auntie Helen spoke up. I thought he was a movie star. The man just laughed.

If I was in someone’s movie, the show would bust. I’m not an actor, he stated, but still, it’s an honor that this woman would come over. I got a chance to talk some.

I just glared at Aunt Helen and then at him. He had the nerve to let her stand over there, interrupting his evening. She needs to be locked up, I thought to myself. I looked around to see all these patrons looking at us, some with their mouths hanging open. I was frantic when he started staring at me again. I intentionally pushed my napkin from my lap to not have to look at him directly. I saw that wasn’t going to help because he was still standing there. I knew just as we did that he thought Aunt Helen was crazy. I quickly looked around and saw we still had an audience. Aunt Helen could have had us kicked out of here. I could see for myself the man must be important. Now, why did she think that she knew him? Still, the entire episode was embarrassing.

He turned his attention back to me. What university did you graduate from? You must have studied really hard to receive your master’s. I know your family is proud of you.

I finally opened my mouth to say, I graduated from the University of Massachusetts. It was as if I was tongue-tied. I know I looked like the dumbest thing alive.

What were your studies? he now asked.

I wished he would return to his date so we could take Aunt Helen out of here. I quickly replied that my major was foreign languages.

Ah, that sounds interesting, he stated. I could tell right away he was rude and arrogant, sure of himself. I didn’t care for him, not one bit. He knew he was good-looking, that there were women falling all over themselves for him. I had to admit that I had never seen a man so gorgeous in my life. I soon kept my eyes turned away from his. He knew I was angry, mad, and upset with my aunt, but that didn’t encourage him to go back to his table. Every time I looked up, he was still staring at me. I didn’t know how the hell my family hadn’t taken notice. He had a beautiful woman across the room waiting on him. Possibly, women were used to him walking away from them, leaving them sitting alone. I just wanted him to leave so we could go home.

Again, he finally directed his attention back to my family when he offered to pay for dinner and insisted that we have the house’s best champagne as his congratulations. Just before his departure, he made sure that I had his full attention with his sparkling blue eyes. The gentleman called over to one of the staff standing by.

Make sure these wonderful people are served with any additional item on the menu. Make sure this is all placed on my bill as Mr. Connors Enterprise.

You don’t have to do that.

Helen, asked Mom, who did he say he was? I didn’t get all his name.

Myself, I didn’t care what his name was; I just wanted out of there. I couldn’t wait to get home. Everything was all right until Aunt Helen went over there making a fool out of herself, thought Amber.

On our way back home, no one said a word to Aunt Helen. Well, I thought he was a nice man. Mr. Connors didn’t have to come over to our table just to congratulate Amber. That was so kind of him. We had a real nice conversation, stated Auntie.

You didn’t have any business going over there with some damn napkin. You look like a fool. Helen, you got all the attention in the restaurant, said Uncle Frank. My mother made the remark that we all could have been kicked out of the place.

I thought to myself, Now they have so much to say to her when none of them would make a move to go get her. Other than that, we had nothing else to say to her. And it was a long drive to be going back to Kneybreury in silence.

With anger and resentment in her voice, Finoria softly replied, "You look like a damn fool running over there with that old woman. Just to think she comes over here saying for some damn autograph. And to think on a piece of napkin. What was she going to do, carry a fine piece of linen home to hang on the wall or something?

Since when do you rush over to greet some nobody? Usually, you find it beneath you to speak to anyone unless it’s a business associate or someone important. Now, you waste time on strangers. Finoria continued her raving under a low tone. We come out to have a romantic weekend here in New York. You owe me that since you’ve been away from Toronto. You leave me there to babysit those idiots.

The idiots that you call them. You know they’re the best. I wouldn’t give, not one of them to another company. You don’t worry about them when we’re both away. You just figure I’m out with some woman while you’re there in the office. I never say anything about whoever you’re with, angrily, Richard remarked in return. I’ve lost my appetite. Now listen, Finoria. The woman made a mistake thinking I was someone else.

He then laughed. Just think, a movie star. I’ve been called a lot of things, but never a movie star. She was embarrassed, as well as her family. Richard had to laugh. "Just the look on her family’s face. The young girl that just graduated, well, she wasn’t happy to see me either. So, honey, you weren’t the only one upset tonight.

What I did get her to say to me was that she majored in foreign languages. With a brain, as the woman said. Her niece Amber could have continued her education and gotten her PhD. I worked hard receiving my education and was glad to have it finished.

You all were making a scene. Even the maître d’ was having to get the woman away from our table. They should have been kicked out. All these people’s attention being drawn to you.

Richard grabbed her wrist. I don’t give a fuck about what you think! He was now showing anger as he spoke in a low voice.

Finoria realized she had pushed him too far. This had now ruined the evening for them both.

Listen, Richard continued. You can be so picky over some little lady coming to our table. Let’s get the hell out of here. I’ve had enough.

You haven’t even touched your food. Why are we arguing? We’re supposed to be having a nice evening out. This is fucked up. We’re so supposed to be having a nice romantic weekend. Richard, this’ll only be a short week before you have to leave the country again. Can’t we just enjoy the rest of the evening, do some dancing? We haven’t done that in a long time?

The hell with you, Finoria. I have a board meeting in the morning. It’s necessary that I check into the office here. I believe there’s some paperwork that needs to be completed before I leave New York.

Well, what about us? Finoria asked, knowing she had messed up. Well, we can go to the penthouse. There we can have some fun."

Hell no! You can spend some time with my mother, visit with her damn groupies. You can go shopping or something. I’ll stay at the penthouse alone here in the city, stated Richard.

Why can’t we stay the night together? Here we are fighting over some old woman. You promised me a romantic weekend.

I said no! And no! Let’s get the hell out of here. Let me the fuck alone. I’ll have the limo driver take you to my parents’ house. The maître d’ rushed over, asking if their dinner was all right. Richard placed a large bill into the man’s hand.

    PART THREE

Richard waved his limo driver to the curb. Sam, see that Finoria gets to my parents’ home. I’ll continue the rest of the night with some friends.

Richard, do you want me to drop you off the remainder of the evening?

That won’t be necessary. I’ll catch a taxi, said Richard, once I leave the clubs. I’ll take a taxi back to the penthouse. Before then, I’ll have a little fun. You’ll be off duty to do whatever. I’ll call you in the morning. Good night, Finoria. Good night, Sam.

Finoria was furious. Go to hell! she yelled at Richard.

This was no different from a lot of evenings with Finoria whenever he was out of the country. They usually were fighting. But he had to give one thing going for her: she was beautiful and the best fuck in the world. And he had many to try out. But he had his eyes on one now, young or not. He wanted this girl and will do anything in the world to get her. Then to have her aunt say she studied foreign languages? Hell, he could use her. First, he had to get her. He could tell from tonight that this Amber wasn’t interested in him.

After appearing at a few night spots, Richard entered his east penthouse in a very rich and elaborate part of New York. New expensive developments were now going on in near surroundings in the Brooklyn area.

Once Richard entered his apartment, he snatched his black tie from around his neck, throwing that and his tux jacket over the arm of the $2,500 white sofa with its six-sectional seating.

He stood leaning with his ankles crossed, against the back of the sofa. He let his thoughts run back to the scene with Finoria, her issue about the girl’s aunt.

Yes, there was something about the girl that intensely interested him. The aunt making a simple mistake gave him the opportunity to get a close look at the girl named Amber. He could see why her parents named her Amber—amber like gold and those amber-gold eyes.

Richard walked over to the white built-in lighted glass liquor cabinet while pulling his shirt from the waist of his pants. Pouring brandy into crystal-cut glass, he walked over to the ceiling-to-floor triple-paneled glass windows.

His thoughts continued back to the girl. It was amusing how she refused to really look at him. She was embarrassed at the way her aunt had come to him for an autograph. He chuckled to himself. Yes, Ms. Amber, I have plans for you. There’s nothing I let get in my way when I wanted something. I could feel now how she aroused my dick. I was hot as fire for her, and she’ll feel this fire.

Richard was determined to search her background first thing this morning once he got some sleep. The aunt had already given him background on the girl without her even realizing it. A person had to be careful about things like that.

Slipping off his shoes and socks and removing his pants soon afterward, Richard headed for the shower. There, he let sprays of water wash over him like a waterfall. That was one thing he loved about having in his penthouses, the enjoyment of how it released the tension of the day. It also gave him time to ponder over the many things on his mind. Right now, it was all about that girl. She was beautiful and had the looks as if she was European, possibly Italian. He had slept with many Italian women, but this one had the complexion of a foreigner. He needed to know about this young woman. The woman said that she was the aunt and the others at the table the mother and uncle. She didn’t resemble any of the family, so maybe she was adopted. Well, the aunt did say Amber’s grandfather was a doctor from Africa. Maybe that was it.

I’ll have to see what details can be found on her and the grandfather. He needed to hire the girl before someone else does. Before the chance slipped through his fingers.

He could already see how she was going to be difficult. She didn’t like him from the start; she would only nod his way as they were being introduced with that get-away-from-me look. Smiling now, he imagined himself holding and kissing her on her full lips. He would have loved sliding that little black dress to the floor; she wouldn’t even have to remove the pearl necklace. He imagined starting from her toes then traveling to the triangle point, playing there, and working his way up. She
