Her Rebellion: New York Rogues: Rossi, #6
()
About this ebook
A girl who didn't have enough power. A man who had too much. And a partnership that would rock the world.
DANTE
Rossi sister. Rossi princess. Rossi girl.
Believe me, I've heard them all. And it's getting really old.
The problem is, my brothers don't think I should be a part of the family business. They want me to stay in the background. Keep my nose clean. Study international relations.
I think they're wrong. I want to be involved, and when I come up with a plan that works, I dive in with both feet. The target: Dax Romano, head of one of the wealthiest families in New York. The mission: Meet with him and charm him into an alliance with the Rossi family. The goal: Use his wealth and power to help my family win this war against the Massimos.
The thing I don't see coming?
Dax Romano. He's gorgeous and intense and seductive, and before I know what's happening, I'm swept up by him and thrown into more danger than I could ever imagine. And Dax might be the only man who can save me.
DAX
Another day. Another boring schedule.
Until Dante Rossi, the Rossi princess, barges into my life and changes everything.
She's spoiled and obnoxious, and beautiful enough that I can forget both of those things. She's also half my age.
In short, she's trouble, and I shouldn't want anything to do with her. I don't want the new allies she's promising. I certainly don't want to get involved in the war the Rossis have brewing.
But I'm finding it awfully hard to say no to her.
Especially when I find out that the family the Rossis and Brennans are fighting is the same family that killed my brother.
Now they're after Dante. They've kidnapped her and tried to kill her, and though I know I shouldn't care for her—I know I'm far too old to want anything with her—I can't seem to stop trying to protect her.
From the Massimos. From herself. And even from me.
But now that I've found her, I'm not willing to let her go.
And not even the Massimos are going to change that.
Her Rebellion is the first book in the Dante and Dax duo of the New York Rogues: Rossi series. This book promises enemies to lovers, age gap, grumpy sunshine, forbidden love, mafia war, and brother's enemy, and will have you craving a Dax Romano of your very own.

My overall opinion of this book... addictive, entertaining, steamy with a dose of hot chemistry and a solid page turner. I am definitely anticipating book two. I mean, continuing this series to completion, it's a no brainer, it's just simply that good.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
Fam!
It has been toooooooo loooooooooong. Lots of things have happened, but the most important is that I started Brooks Peterson’s series! That’s right, Brooks finally got her own book, and boy was it a doozy. It was featured in the Vows and Vendettas anthology, which is already out of print, but good news: It’ll be published again this fall! You can preorder it here if you’d like to get a glimpse of what Brooks has been getting up to.
Importantly for this book, Dare You contains the story of what happened between the end of Her Keeper and the start of this book. It’s not vital for the reading of this book, but it is important, and if you know and love Brooks as much as I do, you’re going to want to get your hands on it.
And another tip: Brooks has a second book coming up next year, Tell Me, and it has a whole lot to do with what happens in the next Dante book, Her Master. Tell Me isn’t up for preorder yet, but if you sign up for my newsletter you might JUST get a sneak peek at what it’s about. And the cover, which I already have in hand.
Who said I don’t give you things to look forward to?
Hope you’re all having a terrific summer, and as usual, hit me up on Instagram if you want inside information on what’s going on in my chaotic, mostly unorganized world!

DANTE
Isaw Brooks Peterson the moment I yanked the Porsche around the corner, and thank God for that because there were so many bullets flying around us I was surprised I’d made it this far.
Fuck only knew how she’d managed to get through the area on foot and get to a place open enough for a car to find her. Relief flashed across her face at the sight of the car, followed quickly by confusion when her eyes darted over to see who was driving.
So okay, it wasn’t supposed to be me. Technically she’d called Sloane, and then Penny, and technically I guessed she would have expected one of them to come to her rescue. But beggars who’ve just been caught in the middle of a gunfight between Rossi soldiers and Carusos and Massimos couldn’t exactly be choosers, could they?
I screeched to a halt right next to where she was standing and she jerked the door open and jumped in, ducking down as a smattering of bullets sprayed across the sidewalk.
I gulped at that. My brother was going to kill me if he came home to find his car full of bullet holes.
If he came home at all.
I shoved the thought away, threw the car into first, and took off down the street, jerking the car into a U-turn when there was room and flying in the other direction. We had to get out of this area as quickly as we could if we didn’t want to get dead, and the best way out was down three blocks and onto a street big enough to get us away from the docks.
What the fuck is going on back there?
I gasped, my eyes on the road.
"No idea. Anthony and I came into the middle of some sort of battle. I didn’t exactly run out in the street and ask the first guy I saw what they were fighting about. What the fuck are you doing here? Do your brothers know you’re in the middle of this?"
I snorted. They’re a little busy, Brooks. I didn’t exactly think it was a good idea to call and let them know I was on my way to pick you up and might get shot while I was there.
She returned the snort and I felt a thrill of success at that simple gesture. Brooks Peterson was just about the coolest person in the world. Incredibly sexy and incredibly smart, she’d never met a situation she couldn’t handle. As far as I knew, she had more tools in her toolbox than anyone ever born, and no one was quite sure how she’d gotten them all. No one really wanted to ask, either.
There was a good chance she’d shoot you if you did.
She was also best friend to both my sisters-in-law, and therefore someone I’d known since I was born. And sure, she was years older than me, but that just meant I’d been looking up to her since I knew looking up to someone else was a thing. So making her laugh?
Pretty much one of my lifelong goals.
Making her think I was responsible enough to get to join in any of her hi jinks?
A quick glance to the right told me that that hadn’t happened yet. Brooks was staring at me with what could only be described as an even mixture of horror and disappointment, though if I knew Brooks, there was also a dash of humor in there. She knew just as well as I did that I wasn’t supposed to be getting involved in stuff like this and that I’d be in hot water the minute anyone found out what I’d done. But Brooks wouldn’t be the one to turn me in. She’d always been the kind of girl who went looking for trouble and then kicked its ass when she found it.
And me?
Well, I wasn’t supposed to go looking for trouble at all. Because I was the Rossi princess. Sister to Joseph and Michael. Daughter to Fat Jimmy. Sister-in-law to Sloane Brennan and Penny Lane.
And the little girl no one thought capable of doing anything more than going to school and keeping my mouth shut.
Of course, that had never stopped me from knowing what was going on. And now that my family was embroiled in an outright war with several other families in the underworld, I was thinking it was time for me to get involved.
Which was exactly why I’d grabbed the keys to Michael’s Porsche and come after Brooks when she called. Before Sloane and Penny had a chance to do it themselves.

DANTE
The moment we left the area where the battle was taking place, I started milking Brooks for information. Because like I said, the girl had been right in the middle of it. Back home, Sloane and Penny had been frantic. The last time they’d seen her she’d been on her way into the bar where she’d thought Anthony Massimo was, to try to figure out if he was okay. The Massimo family had just been attacked and there had been some question about whether the Rossi clan had done it—Sloane didn’t think so—or was next on the list of families to attack.
That last part was why Brooks had sent Sloane and Penny home instead of keeping them with her. She hadn’t wanted them anywhere near the action and she hadn’t wanted Joseph or Michael to find out she’d taken them out into public when war was definitely brewing.
Sloane had gotten behind the wheel of the car they’d been driving and taken off for home, leaving Brooks to figure out what was going on with Anthony Massimo. Which was a whole other story. Because over the last few months, as one thing after another went wrong for my family and Sloane’s, it had become increasingly obvious that
