DO SOME PEOPLE HAVE WEBBED FEET?
Being born with webbed hands or feet is quite common. It happens because fingers and toes develop from a flipper-like hand or foot that divides on the unborn baby. If it doesn’t divide properly, the skin stays webbed.
WHO HAD 69 BABIES?
In the 1700s, a Russian woman had 69 children: 16 pairs of twins, 7 sets of triplets, and 4 sets of quadruplets. That’s a lot of birthdays to remember!
ARE MERMAIDS REAL?
Occasionally, a baby is born with its legs fused together, but still with two feet. This mutation, called sirenomelus, or mermaid syndrome, might have led to stories of mermaids.
