    Dedication

I would like to dedicate this book to my husband Marc. So much of my life changed for the better and dreams have been made real because of you. There is no better experience in life then to truly love someone and also know you are unconditionally loved back. Thank you for loving me, supporting me, and believing in me. You are simply the best!

    Introduction

    M

ost of us that grew up in the United States, were told about a plump older man coming down the chimney (or through the front door if we didn’t have a fireplace) and provided the Christmas gifts under the tree each year. Even if we questioned how one man with one sleigh led by flying reindeer could provide gifts for every household around the world in one day, we accepted whatever explanation that was given. When we placed any baby teeth under our pillow at night, but woke up with a dollar bill instead, we were told and believed that the tooth fairy came to visit while we were sleeping. Whenever we either found out by accident or an older child spilled the beans about the truth about Santa, we felt conned or stupid that we believed in something so silly.

This isn’t the case when it comes to what Religion we were raised with. If an individual questions the faith they were raised in, most do not feel comfortable sharing it with their loved ones. They are made to feel guilty. They are scared to believe that if they abandon their faith, bad things will happen to them and when they die, they will live in eternal damnation for eternity without their loved ones. Even in a country where we claim a freedom of religion, we are often made to feel shameful if we desire to pursue no religion.

I believe this book can be very helpful for two kinds of people. For the individual like me that was raised in a faith but deep down inside, it just doesn’t resonate with you, my hope is that you can read this book and come away with a peace and comfort that you don’t need to follow a specific religious faith to be at peace, be happy, and live a moral fulfilled life. I would love to live in a world one day that we can ALL be accepted for our religious beliefs (as long as they don’t hurt others) or accepted for having no religious faith at all.

I also think this book can be beneficial for Evangelical Christians. I think many Christians only listen and hear each other. I challenge you to hear someone that was just like you. Believed it with all his heart, but now believes differently. I’m now looking on the outside and the way the church is being perceived is not good. From those that aren’t Christians, most see Christians as being very unChrist-like. I don’t have a desire to see everyone lose their faith, but the world would be a much better place if Christians simply acted like Christ. Maybe this book will encourage Christians to do that.

    What is Evangelicalism?

    T

he word Evangelical has many definitions and meanings for different people. The Reverend Billy Graham was asked to define the term in the late 1980’s and he replied, Actually, that’s a question I’d like to ask somebody too.

The definition of Evangelical is: of or according to the teaching of the gospel or the Christian religion. In our current vernacular most of us use the term Evangelical as an individual that adheres to the Christian doctrine and believes in propagating that doctrine to others so that they would be converted and believe the same doctrine. There are many Christians that aren’t Evangelical. They have very strong beliefs to their core, but they don’t have the compulsion or directive to spread that belief to the rest of the world. Later in this book, I will share my personal beliefs on how Evangelicals have caused a lot of damage to our human race.

Here is why I’ve chosen to use the word Evangelical. I truly believe most people don’t even know what the real definition of Agnosticism really means. Most of us come from some specific religious background growing up. But as I talk to the overwhelming majority of people, I have rarely come across an individual that 100% adheres to the faith they were raised in and the one they currently say they believe and follow. There are so many assumptions concerning Agnosticism that I think it would be a huge eye opening experience for so many to actually learn what is means. I think we would find that so many individuals that actually put a label on their spiritual beliefs would be surprised to find out that they most commonly line with an Agnostic then to a firm believer in the religion that they follow.

What is my purpose in writing this book? First, I would like to share my personal journey spiritually. How I was raised, what lead to me turning away from my religious upbringing, and then finally the comfort I found in accepting I was Agnostic. I will share the cons or negatives that I found in following after a religious faith. Pointing out the facts where religion has had a very negative and even evil effect on our society and human existence. I will then attempt to show you the positives of looking at Agnosticism. I hope you will be willing to be open and not fearful. To honestly ask yourself questions and not just believe what people have told you. My desire is that you can find peace, happiness, and rest in being an Agnostic. Who knows, you may very well be one and you don’t even realize it. So hopefully this will help spread the Good News or Evangelize Agnosticism.
