This book is dedicated to a group of people who, over a four-day period, February 6–10, 2003, made a profound impact on my life. To say I had a life-changing experience in the presence of these people is an understatement.

I attended an event called BLASST, Building Leadership

and Super Success Training, in Santa Clara, California, the brainchild of Mr. Gary Shawkey. The motivational speakers that attended empowered us by their experiences to take our personal and professional lives, aspirations, and dreams to the next level. My expectations were far surpassed, and I would like to share the information I learned with you. I consider it a blessing and a privilege.

Their inspiring stories are more than just results. Each has a unique story to tell about their challenges and successes. Something that stands out is their belief in achieving their goals, their focus, their enjoyment and passion to help others achieve their goals and dreams. This really falls in line with the desires of my heart.

Some aspects of their teachings that have been reinforced in my personal and professional life are the need to plan, market, and improve.

These men and women are all masters in their field, and for each of them I have much respect, and gratitude.

Foreword

Affiliate marketing, network marketing, multilevel marketing, Internet marketing, social media marketing. These are common buzz words that you would find on the Internet today. Put these words in any search engine and you would get access to thousands of websites. One of the reasons I wrote this book is my passion for being involved in some of these programs, which I will introduce to you. I say passion because I really enjoy marketing on the Internet for the relationships I’ve developed, being able to help others, and the freedom to explore and use my God given talents and skills. It’s a personal business as well. When you have a passion for something, it doesn’t seem like work at all. I’m enthusiastic about my passions and can speak about them for hours.

I also have another passion and reason for writing this book. That reason is to give thanks to God, my creator, for his love, for not giving up on me and for all the wonderful opportunities and blessings this experience has given me. Because I am so thankful, I want to give something back to my community and, indeed, the world. I’ve always said: If I pass through this life on earth and know that I have helped someone in some way, then I know my life has a purpose.

I live in Bermuda, a very small island out in the Atlantic Ocean. We have people of many cultures living on the island. I am blessed to have been born here. I love to worship at a small Anglican Church called St. Monica’s. The island is divided into nine parishes across twenty-one square miles of land joined by several bridges. St. Monica’s is one of the Anglican churches in the Parish of Pembroke.

Some prayers I have for Hours of Pure Gold are:

1. That as I share this information with you, you will find these real-life experiences helpful, motivating, and inspiring. That with the help of the teachings of these speakers you can build self-esteem, become motivated, formulate clear goals, and enjoy the things you long to do. If you’re looking for more success in your business, family, social or personal life, these leaders have proven techniques and action steps for you. Listening to their wit and wisdom has opened up a field of opportunities for me to grasp and nurture, and I believe it can do the same for you.

2. That as you read, you will be encouraged to start or finish the projects you’ve been putting off; that you will make positive changes in your life; that you will believe you can achieve whatever you put your mind to, and you will know there are resources and people along the way who can and are willing to help you.

3. That through this experience and purchasing this book you will know you’ve helped with our vision and will want to share it with others. You may want to help us in other ways, by praying for us, sending us an encouraging email, worshipping with us from near or far. God has promised us abundance and to fulfill the desires of our hearts. All we have to do is ask him and to be faithful unto him. As I get to know God more and more each day, he fills my heart with love and peace, and nothing is more fulfilling to me. All other blessings I consider a bonus and I give thanks.

Introduction

Let me set the stage and give you some information on my passion for Internet marketing and how I arrived at this beautiful city called San Francisco, traveling to and staying in Santa Clara in the heart of Silicon Valley.

I will mention some people who have touched my life in a special way and have helped me become the person I am today.

I grew up in Bermuda like any normal child. My loving mom worked hard day and night to provide for her children—four girls—and for her extended family as well. There was always plenty of people visiting our small apartment, and there was always good food. Mom loves to cook and cooks as if she’s feeding five thousand. Growing up, there were certain things we could not afford, as Mom’s jobs were seasonal. But Mom loved to sew and knit, so you would always see my sisters and I decked out in a pretty outfit that she made for us with love. Of course we had the big ribbons in our hair—more ribbon than hair most of the time.

As far back as I can remember, I always had the desire, the drive, the determination that I would make my life better and someday help my mother. I would challenge myself to take
