ani woke up to the sound of his mother’s voice on Saturday morning, 10 July 1999. "Wake up Mani, today you have to go with your father to the Military Service Organization. Your father’s friend is waiting for you to postpone your enlistment for a while. Wake up before it’s too late for you., Anahita said. The wall clock said 6 am".

After breakfast, Mani and his father went to the Military Service Organization in Hamadan. When they arrived, his father’s friend was not there. Mani had to choose. He could either join the army or desert. He chose military service. He hurriedly boarded one of the three buses that take conscripts to military bases. On the way, he noticed that his name was not on the list. But it was too late, his fate had already been sealed. After 6 hours, the bus carrying the soldiers entered the city of Tehran. After a short wait in front of the guard office, the bus entered the base. When the bus stopped, all the trainees got off and were stationed next to the barracks reception building, led by the guards

One of the reception sergeants approached the group of new arrivals and asked aloud: "Does anyone here have good handwriting?". Although his handwriting was not very good, Mani was the only soldier to raise his hand in agreement. As a result, Mani was chosen by the reception sergeant to register new soldiers. So Mani had no trouble getting his name registered at the barracks. The reception sergeants were in their last month of military service. In the short time they had known Mani, they had developed a good relationship with him. So, although the battalion headquarters selects new soldiers and places them in the army’s training units, they told Mani that he could go to Unit 4, where their friends in the army serve, for easier training. Unfortunately, Mani had inadvertently
