About this ebook

The Burglar, Penn Fawn's first short story, and the 1st place winner of the Literary Titan's Book Award, is urban fiction, aka street literature, which is known for being set in a city landscape featuring a dark mood or tone.

The Burglar is that with a twist. The culprit's inexperience, jitters, and nerves are at the forefront of what pushes this daring tale forward, where his name, and almost nothing about his identity is ever disclosed. An examination of his mindset is what brings this fast paced action feature to its twisted end.

The Burglar is the opening tale from a series of other short form writings the author plans to initially individually release. They will then be published as a compilation.

    The Burglar - Penn Fawn

    The Burglar

Springer was fast asleep . He didn’t hear the noise the crowbar made when the burglar used it to pry open his living room window. This could have happened to you too, or just about anyone, for that matter.

So, in the pitch-black darkness there, while falling, the intruder unintentionally released the grip around his gun.

It went flying, albeit for a short time and distance. However, not only did it skate all the way across the varnished pine floor, it also made a loud thumping sound as it banged against Springer’s closed bedroom door.

    This startled and awoke him.

He was up in a flash, and before he knew much about what was going on, with a racing heart, he found himself moving swiftly toward where he felt sure the sound came from.

Merely a matter of a second or so, before or after, came the noise his airborne laptop made following its fall.

It landed not too far away from where none other than the intruder lay gasping.

Oof! That was the sound he made when the rotund protrusion of a gut cushioned him from slamming
