Bettie Jones was a 55 year old mother and grandmother, who on the early morning of December 26th, 2015 was shot multiple times by officer Robert Rialmo of the Chicago Police Department, as she opened the door to her home for him. Officer Rialmo also shot and killed Quintonio LeGrier, who had come downstairs with a bat while dealing with a mental health situation. Officers were initially called by LeGrier's father who had barricaded himself in his room in an upstairs apartment. He had asked Jones to open the door to the building to let officers in. A lot of debate circulated around the officer's location when he fired the fatal shots. Follow as the family share's the life and legacy of Bettie Jones, and what happened to her that fateful day.

So, um, I went to the bathroom I sat down, I start... I heard some gunshots. Like, I heard, "Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom," and I heard, Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom," that's how it sound.
And I'm like, "What the hell is that?" So, now I'm surprised and I heard something like the mirror shot through a glass. So, I'm like.., "What the... what is that?" So, I was like, "Ooh, that's shooting," because we stayed like around gangs, like they was always into it with each other over there. And I was like, "Mom, get down they shooting. Ma, ma," and she aint say nothing.
I went... I had to look, like I stood and I just turned slow and I looked by the door. And she was laying right there gasping for air and I was like, "Ma!" So, I wind up, you know, holding her, trying to comfort her and trying to comfort her in her time of need as... right then and there. And, um, she was like, you know, like Because she got shot in the neck, in the chest.
Once the door opened-
A crack in the door.
Yeah, she... it was a little crack.
She peeped out and he shot her in the neck.
