    Green living should not be confined to the lifestyle of the so-called ‘eco-warriors’: it must be the aim of each and every one of us to reduce our own impact on the environment. A few simple changes, when applied to our everyday activities both in the home and elsewhere, could have a relatively small impact on us as individuals but, cumulatively, will have an overall beneficial effect on the environment. We must all take responsibility for our own actions, while encouraging others to do likewise, and reduce the carbon footprint left behind as we go about our daily business. Don’t wait for others to act first, take positive steps, every single day, to help safeguard the future of our planet. Carry out a review of your own lifestyle – and make some changes for the better, now!

    Starting at home, some simple everyday changes in our behaviour patterns will help to improve the environment and, ultimately, benefit us all. Whether it be in terms of reducing waste, or improving our fitness and health, every little we can do towards saving natural resources will be worthwhile, and have a positive impact on the natural world. Knowledge of rocket science is not necessary; having accepted that we, as humans, are damaging our planet, it is obvious that we need to do something to prevent, or reduce, environmental calamity. Think before you act – it’s not someone else’s problem.

    Find ways to economise on energy, throughout the home. Purchasing an energy meter will soon show where electrical power is being used and, perhaps, being wasted. This portable unit needs no wiring, and can be carried from room to room. It will show where power is being consumed, and where potential savings may be made. Energy meters are obtainable from eco-stores such as BritishEco, and could recoup the initial cost in the first year by helping to reduce wasteful energy consumption.
