    Chapter 1

    ‘Whats Her Name Again Abel?!’

    "M om, did you get to cook the food for Sophie and I like I asked you to!?

    you mean you prepared the wrong thing again mother?" Abel was now upset at the short haired, brunette lady he called mom;

    you mean you forgot the beans and oxtail again!? he seemed a bit worried now as he paced back and forth in the dainty little brick kitchen, that was too small for the three family members, including dad and himself.

    Mom, he whispered softly, not wanting to upset the already flustered old lady who was beginning to have a melt down. She apologized for the misunderstanding and blurted out,

    I really wanted to put a smile on your face my son, buu she came closer to him now and squeezed his cheeks as though he were still her little brown eyed baby boy,

    but you know what? mom smiled halfheartedly now,

    "I did the wrong thing again! I totally forgot and cooked beans and sauerkraut instead of beans and oxtail;

    Where did you say shes from again son?

    Did you say, Peru?" the small framed woman asked with a wry smile.

    Mom! mom! you did this stupidity on purpose, didn’t you? he shook a menacing finger at his mom.

    Immediately, dad came sauntering down the winding staircase and joined in the lively conversation.

    Your girl is from Arabia, isn’t she? he grinned mischievously, drawing a chair for mom and himself.

    Abel was visibly frustrated now, no dad! shes from Jamaica! for the millionth time, shes Jamaican born, shes from Jamaica!!.

    Abel turned to his mother now with eager eyes,

    "Oke mom, to make this easier, could we make something called ceveche, that’s her favorite food,

    I could help you", her adult son offered, reaching over the table and hugging the elderly lady close to his stomach so that she struggled to keep up her balance;

    we can do it together mom, he said as he glanced at his cheap, tick tack watch and exclaimed loudly,

    shes supposed to be here at 3:pm; lets see, we have two more hours to go mom, lets go, chap, chap, he clapped his hand tentatively as he checked his watch, it should be fun between us three.

    Whats her name again Abel? dad inquired playfully and insensitively from across the table, stroking his long gray beard.

    Dad? Abel was slightly a bit irritated with him now,

    "Dad, I said Sophia! for the thousandth time dad, Sophia,

    Dad you mean you cant remember one girls name?!"

    Mom seemed to be in a great haste now to get this chore completed as she retied her white polka dot apron with scrawny arms, around her waist, can we start already? she pleaded, with big, inquiring eyes"

    OK, whats this Cerveche all about?, dad wanted to know with trembling arms.

    Abel responded with a smile in
