INTRODUCTION
In ancient times cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this.
– Terry Pratchett
The smallest Feline is a masterpiece.
- Leonardo Da Vinci
The history of the cat traces back almost 40 million years ago. As time went by, cats became an integral part of the Egyptian culture. In the eighteenth century, in both France and England, cats were prized as pets and featured in beautiful paintings. Charles Perrault even wrote the French fairy tale Puss In Boots
in 1697, which achieved huge popularity.
Cats were so loved that the first British Cat Show in London, England, was held in 1871. It was the first cat show in the world and the start of many other cat showings.
In 1865, Louis Carroll published Alice In Wonderland
, in which the Cheshire Cat was an object of respect. From then on, children’s books started representing kittens and cats as loveable creatures and good pets for children. By the nineteenth century, cats were full members in society.
It is also known that on the Mayflower there was at least one cat aboard, brought to America as a family pet of first pioneers.
This book is dedicated to the memory of three beautiful and loving fur babies; Butterscotch, Saki, and Tasha, who are now cat angels with whiskers. I will never forget you!

But wood carving would not be a good paying career for you
, his mom and dad said. "What else would you like to
