WTF Is Human Design? - Elli Richter

    CHAPTER 1

    Introduction

    H

ello, gorgeous being. Thank you for being here. It means the world to us. We are so excited to present the basics of Human Design, introduce you to subconscious reprogramming, and share the 80/20 Lifestyle for you to experiment with. Human Design changed our lives and opened our hearts and minds. It took our business relationships and personal relationships to the next level of awesome sauce. It feels like home to us, and it is our calling to share this information with you as fellow curious students of life.

Human Design is a magical self-awareness tool that you can apply to your life no matter your religious beliefs, ethnicity, or cultural or national background. It encourages authenticity and invites us to think less and be more. Elli Richter was introduced to Human Design in 2016 and felt so empowered by what she learned about her Manifestor self. She began to weave the system of Human Design into her subconscious integration coaching practice. A couple of years later, Elli began coaching and sharing Human Design with Helen Hall, a serial entrepreneur, as Helen navigated life building Blender Bombs and Hustle Smoothie Bar. Human Design instantly clicked for Helen, who is a Projector. The Human Design system taught Helen how to better understand her growing team both in terms of their personal work styles and in terms of how they feel valued and motivated. For her, it became the greatest self-awareness tool and a perfect shortcut to unlocking potential and purpose in others. It also empowered Helen as a leader, making her feel truly worthy of her accomplishments. For Elli, Human Design created a monumental paradigm shift in her life and her coaching practice. Human Design gave her a deeper understanding of her gifts, her role, and her purpose in this lifetime.

Once they began to geek out on Human Design, they realized there is so much unlearning to do. Elli began her quest to discover the best way to unlearn, studying the subconscious mind, which led her to subconscious reprogramming with PSYCH-K®.

PSYCH-K® has been around for over three decades and is a self-empowering and lasting way to rewrite the subconscious mind, upgrade self-limiting beliefs, and to come to peace and non attachment around stressful events. It is their preferred way of deconditioning and upleveling.

Now Elli is on a mission to normalize subconscious integration as a KEY element for growth, healing, and transformation in every industry, especially in areas of mental health, personal development, and wellness. She is offering subconscious integrative coaching—a hybrid of holistic psychology, life coaching, nervous system regulating wellness practices, and PSYCH-K®—helping people all over the world to release trauma and limiting beliefs so they can take back their power, heal, and live life fully. Helen is building a bomb-ass empire, providing power in healthy choices and actions. As an entrepreneur, she is a true changemaker in the health and wellness space with Blender Bombs, and she is also a believer in balance with the 80/20 Lifestyle. Together, their goal is to help you to empower yourself to move away from the age of generic advice and all the shoulds into the age of trusting and following your own inner knowing. Why? Because each of us has innate value and worth, and when we follow that inner calling to share our gifts and joys, everyone wins. It is not selfish to prioritize your well-being and inner guidance system; it is for the highest good for all. What you’ll discover in the pages that follow is a starter kit for discovering your most genuine, authentic self. There is so much conditioning that causes suffering and anxiety in the world; BS conditioning about how we should look, what we should do, how we are supposed to feel, who we are, and how we should act. Human Design is a permission slip to be yourself, and our hope is that this system helps you along in the journey of life—the world needs you. The information Human Design provides will blow your mind, and it’s not the be-all and end-all. Now it is about unlearning and experimenting, creating (remembering your innate) wisdom through applying the knowledge. So let’s do it. It’s time to FUCK THE SHOULDS and CHOOSE THE WANTS.

    XX,

    Elli and Helen

    CHAPTER 2

    Why Fuck the Shoulds

    I

n today’s modern world, there are so many resources at our fingertips to make life more efficient and downstream. In theory, this could mean we have more time, more space to rest, be, create, and connect—but do we? It often feels as though we are constantly on the go, filling in the gaps with wasted time and energy. We stay busy and distracted and plugged in—always. Collective and individual conditioning make it feel unnatural to simply BE, and most of us do not know how to rest without feeling guilty. As soon as you open your eyes in the morning, you are bombarded with how you should look, feel, and act. One of the things Elli hears her clients say a lot is that they think they should be doing something all the time, that rest is unproductive, and that they feel as though their worth is tied to their productivity or how much they help others. For many, their safety and security are tied to the number in their bank account, their possessions, or their relationship status. Or their lovability is tangled up with how much they weigh or how they look. Many of us are conditioned to glorify hard work as the best and only meaningful way to create wealth, success, or happiness. Even though we have plenty of evidence that this is no longer the only way, this kind of subconscious programming is still alive in many people’s minds. Even though we know better and have learned from previous generations the importance of prioritizing physical and mental health, relationships, and our impact on others and the planet, our subconscious programs still carry the old beliefs. And our beliefs create our reality.

If you’ve ever tried to rest and relax, only to find yourself feeling restless and guilty—that’s an example of subconscious conditioning and conscious knowing not being on the same page. This internal tug-of-war is what shows up as our negative inner voice, ego, or as Elli likes to call it, bitchy inner critic. Those negative narratives create physiological responses in the body called emotions (energy in motion) and feelings (sensations we can feel in the body), and when a particularly emotionally charged topic is looping in our minds, our nervous system responds, and we feel that uncomfortable, full-body activation, what is also called anxiety (valuable physical feedback).

The bitchy inner critic is full of shoulds as it is our conditioning, not our chosen understanding. Just because we are thinking something does not mean it is true. A belief is just a thought we keep thinking, and not everything we think is true. We are all about questioning the conditioning and choosing to be open and curious.

Internally, our conditioning is telling us, It’s time to wake up; you’d better not hit snooze; don’t be lazy; make sure you eat something healthy for breakfast; did you make time to work out? Externally, our outside conditioning is telling us, You should do your makeup like that girl on Instagram; you need to have that new iPhone; carbs are the enemy; you need more money; you’re not pretty enough, skinny enough—simply not enough.

It’s all noise—all the time—buzzing around and within us. So many people operate on (limiting) subconscious programs like the following:

I should be productive all the time.

    I am not good enough.

What I want is not possible for me.

There is something wrong with me.

    I can’t do what I want / dream of.

    I should be further along.

I should have it all figured out.

    I should not have said x, y, or z.

I should not be feeling angry.

    I should be fearless.

I should be happy all the time.

I should be at every event, party, or gathering; otherwise I’m missing out.

I should do it like the skinny person on social media—

what works for her should work for me.

    I am not doing enough.

    I should have more money.

    I should be more woke.

    I should exercise more.

    I don’t have enough.

    I should not eat x, y, or z.

It is too late for me.

We are here to challenge you to change the narrative. We are not human doings; we are human beings. Our worth and value are innate.

So why fuck the shoulds? Well, first and foremost, swearing is good for you, and expressing frustration is healthy. For too long we’ve observed people in our lines of work—especially during our early days as personal trainers—and in the world around us who are constantly seeking outside guidance and advice for what they should do—as if other people have the answers to your personal questions. You should eat this. You should exercise this many times a week. You should dress a certain way. You should, you should, you should. The underlying message is that other people know what is best for you and are better or smarter than you, which also means that you’re not enough, and you’re not doing enough—and here is a list of a thousand things you should do to be better. FUCK THAT. This is also, by the way, called codependency!

Anytime you ask yourself or others, What should I do? you are asking from the most conditioned part of your consciousness. We’re done feeding into that mentality. We have a built-in, spiritual allergy toward the word should. For the next few weeks or so, take time to notice how much you should on yourself and others. How often do you seek solutions through the lens of your conditioning?

Remember, everything we think about ourselves is conditioned, and not everything we think is true.

    We’ve
