The Creature – What Is It?
During Thanksgiving vacation, seven college "friends" decide to get away for one last senior trip to the Slaughter Neck campground. A place that got its name from the unsolved mass murders that occurred years ago. But their weekend does not go as planned.
The legend of the Creature has resurfaced after another rash of killings haunt the area. The friends will encounter something beyond their wildest nightmares in the secluded campground.
A love triangle rears its head—a friend will betray a friend—others will run for their lives. When the fog comes rolling in, something is lurking. Is it a serial killer, a wolf, or neither?
Could one of the friends be the killer? Or maybe even something science has never discovered. What could it be? Enter Slaughter Neck and see.

Chapter 1
Just before dusk at the Slaughter Neck campground located in upstate New York, Joey, a 10-year-old boy, tossed a baseball around deep in the woods. He ended up wandering away from his mother’s campsite. It was getting late, and his mother started to get worried.
Joey, it’s time for dinner,
she yelled from outside her trailer. Hurry up and get back over here before you get lost.
She prepared a plate of food for her son and placed it on the picnic table.
Joey, come on. It’s getting dark out.
Aw, Mom,
he yelled back from afar. Can I play for a few more minutes?
Now!
He tossed the ball one last time, and it rolled behind a large pine tree. He couldn’t find it as the sun had now disappeared, and darkness accompanied by a thick fog quickly covered the area.
He carefully maneuvered through a few bushes, then tripped and fell face-first into a small ditch. He lifted his head and examined the ditch closely. To his surprise, he realized he was lying in a giant footprint.
Suddenly, he heard a strange rustling sound a few feet behind him. He turned around to investigate. Peering through the fog, he spotted a colossal shadow lurking behind a cluster of trees. It started heading his way. Joey was too frightened to scream for help. The shadow got closer and closer.
Joey, hurry up!
his Mom yelled.
Help, help!
he struggled to say. But he couldn’t yell loud enough for his mother to hear.
All of a sudden, everything went black. The hulking shadow had overtaken Joey.
Chapter 2
Friday morning on the Slade University campus, thousands of college students prepared to head home for Thanksgiving break.
Seven college friends decided to get away for the weekend for a senior trip to Slaughter Neck. Slaughter Neck is a secluded campground located in upstate New York, known for its unique name. Though it is unclear how it got its name, the locals enjoyed telling the story of how about 150 years ago, a mass killing occurred over a five-year time frame in which 50 people were found dead. Their bodies were utterly mutilated, and the killer was never found.
Brittany, a blonde, model-like beauty with a sly demeanor, said, I can’t wait until we get to the cabin. I heard the campground is really nice this time of year.
I’m just glad Rick’s going,
Cherise said with a smile. We haven’t been able to spend much time together lately. He’s been so busy with football and stuff.
Cherise had a deep attraction for Rick, the star running back on the football team.
Should I pack this?
Brittany asked, holding up a pink thong.
It all depends.
Depends on what?
I don’t think Chris is actually over Alexis yet,
Cherise said. Remember, they just broke up last month.
Since their sophomore year, Brittany had a deep attraction for Chris, the most popular guy on campus and Rick’s close friend.
Yeah, I know. But hopefully, I can try and take his mind off Alexis for a change.
The phone rang. Cherise walked over to the table and picked it up. Hello,
she said.
Hey, girl, we’re already packed,
Monica said, who was a strong-minded, independent woman. Eddie’s going to drive us over to the mall, and then we’re going to start heading up to the lake.
I guess we’ll have to meet you up there with the rest of the guys,
Cherise said.
You aren’t packed yet?
I am, but Brittany...that’s a different story. You know how slow she can be.
Monica, I’m almost ready,
Brittany yelled from across the room.
Oh yeah, Brittany, the prom queen,
Monica said sarcastically. "I’ll let you go. I know you have to help her pack her five suitcases."
Cherise laughed.
But, I think I might be able to get Eddie to wait,
Monica added. It’ll be hard. He’s a very impatient person.
Well, at least you can try. I’ll make sure Brittany’s all packed by the time you guys get here.
OK, see you in a few minutes.
Bye.
Cherise hung up the phone.
OUTSIDE THE DORMS, Chris was loading up his dark blue SUV. Rick came along and helped him.
How far is it to Slaughter Neck?
Chris asked.
I think about two hours according to the directions,
Rick replied.
Have you ever been there before?
Man, I’ve barely even been out of the city, aside from going to school. And I’ve never been to any woods in my life!
Don’t worry about it. I’ll protect you from all the snakes, wolves, and other creatures of the forest,
Chris said with a laugh.
"Protect me? Man, what have you been smoking?"
Rick stood a strong and sturdy, 6 feet 4 inches tall, and weighed 220 pounds of solid muscle. He was known around campus as being a tough guy and a pro football prospect.
They entered the car and began their trek to the woods.
I really need this vacation,
Chris said. It’s been a difficult month.
I heard, man. I heard.
I can’t believe Alexis used me like that.
Chris wiped his forehead. I trusted her and thought she could have been the one. She ended up being just like all the others.
That’s why I don’t take these girls too seriously,
Rick said. I don’t trust any of them!
I hear you. I wish you would have given me that advice about six months ago.
Remember, I did. You just didn’t listen.
Rick patted him on the shoulder. Well, it’s time to move on, friend.
They drove for another hour and approached a long, winding trail.
Cherise told me Tammy would be up at the cabin,
Rick said.
I didn’t know she was coming,
Chris said.
I just found out last night. And she said Tammy’s been asking about you a lot lately.
For real,
he said with surprise. I haven’t talked to her much this semester; just Hi and Bye. But never any real conversation. She seems nice and all—
She is a cool girl,
Rick said. She tutors me sometimes in Biology. Man, that is one hard class! Please don’t get me thinking about school right now. That’s the last thing I want to be thinking about while we're on vacation.
OK, we’ll see what happens this weekend,
Chris took a deep breath. Anything’s possible.
Chapter 3
After a long drive , Eddie, Monica, and Tammy had just arrived at the cabin they rented on the east side of Slaughter Neck campground. Their location was extremely secluded from the rest of the campground and deep in the woods.
They took their luggage out of the car and approached the cabin door.
Eddie took out the key and swung the door open. I can’t believe they wanted $2,000 for this piece of crap!
he said, looking inside.
Eddie was skinny with blonde, curly hair and hated by many for his obnoxious behavior.
Monica walked
