Deanna Lynn Davis
Deanna Lynn Davis is a very proud and devoted mother to three amazing children, Justin Michael, Allison Lynn, and Connor Lee. She is an avid lover of the outdoors and lives with her many rescue dogs, along with a barn-cat turned house-cat, on a cattle farm outside of Nashville, Tennessee. Growing up in south Texas, Deanna's family had their home in San Antonio, in addition to a beautiful 200-acre ranch in the Texas Hill Country, outside the small town of Bandera. Continually surrounded by family, their cows, their horse, Lady, and their Labrador Retriever, Rex, her years at the ranch were without a doubt, where she discovered her passion for nature and animals. The ranch is also where she first started writing stories. Most of them about dogs and horses, which she would turn into self-made books created from just folded notebook paper and a little red stapler! Deanna has always enjoyed reading and still has a large collection of storybooks from her childhood, including the book she learned to read with! The Adventures of Benjamin Acorn came to Deanna over twenty years ago, when her three children would spend time finding acorns under the Live Oak trees there in south Texas, and adventurous gray squirrels played above. But even with Benjamin’s name and story idea coming to her right away, it would still be many more years before the words finally appeared on paper. Nowadays, you will usually find Deanna outside writing under the big oak tree beside the creek, where she is continually inspired. And thankfully now that she spends her days writing, we know we can look forward to reading about Benjamin’s newest adventure very soon!

The Adventures of Benjamin Acorn - Deanna Lynn Davis
Part I: A Noise in the Woods
Benjamin Acorn was a young but very adventurous little squirrel. He lived in the woods in a big, beautiful oak tree with his mom and dad, his little sister, Betsy, and his Grandma and Grandpa Acorn. Benjamin was a very happy little squirrel. He loved his family, he loved his friends, and most of all, he loved the woods where he lived.
Benjamin also loved being outdoors, and this, of course, meant all four seasons belonging to it! This season, though, was undoubtedly one of his favorites. A season where the once silent and bare trees were now filled with bright green leaves bustling in the warm winds. The once icy cold river was now a reposeful refuge for the ducks and geese, along with their new waddling broods. The once frozen ground was now covered in soft grasses outlaid under clear blue skies. And the once barren pathways were now lined with colorful wildflowers, dotted with honey bees and ladybugs.
There wasn’t any doubt that spring had finally sprung there in the woods, and everyone seemed to be enjoying it! Today after school, Benjamin was spending time with his good friend, Odie. Being that Odie was an otter and Benjamin was a squirrel, together they had made up some really fun games to play down by the river. And while swimming wasn’t one of Benjamin’s favorite things to do, many a time he had still ended up in the water!
On this particular afternoon, Benjamin was helping Odie build his very own dam along one of the smaller tributaries. Even though his family had a much larger lodge upstream, this was going to be just for Odie to have for him and his friends. Benjamin was enjoying helping him be able to do this and was in the midst of handing him another rock,
