Chapter 1
Maya had a long day at work, but as she drove home, she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong. Her husband, Jack, hadn't answered any of her calls or texts all day. Maya thought it was unusual, but she brushed it off, thinking that he was probably busy with work.
When she finally got home, she found the front door unlocked, which was strange since Jack was a stickler for security. Maya called out his name, but there was no answer. She checked the living room, the kitchen, and even the garage, but there was no sign of him.
As she walked towards the bedroom, she saw something that made her heart stop. There was a trail of blood leading to the bedroom, and the door was ajar. Maya felt her palms sweat, her heart racing as she pushed the door open.
There was Jack, lying on the floor, motionless. Maya gasped and covered her mouth with her hand. Her heart felt like it was about to burst. She knew something was wrong, and it was too late.
Maya dropped to her knees, trying to find a pulse, but there was none. She knew she had to call the police, but she was too scared to move. She sat there in disbelief, staring at her dead husband, not knowing what to do.
Finally, she picked up her phone and dialed 911. Her voice was shaking as she reported the situation. The operator instructed her to check if Jack was breathing, but it was too late. Jack was dead.
Maya was in shock. She couldn't believe what had happened. She knew that Jack had a lot of enemies because of his business, but she never thought someone would go so far as to kill him.
The police arrived quickly and started questioning Maya. They asked her about her relationship with Jack, if they had any arguments, and if she had any reason to harm him. Maya was overwhelmed with grief that she could barely speak. She kept repeating that she loved Jack and had no reason to kill him.
After the initial questioning, the police took her into custody, suspecting her of the murder. Maya was terrified. She had no idea how she would
