Steading myself on my bike, I knew that I had an action-packed day out ahead of me.
Something that I was used to – whether that was cycling together or all heading out on a long walk.
Despite my mum Angie and dad David, now 58, splitting up when me and my brother Alex, now 20, were young, Mum made sure that we lived a lively and fun childhood.
With a great sense of humour and always up for an adventure, Mum was there for me the most when I needed her – which really meant a lot to me.
Plus, when I turned 12, there was somebody that Mum introduced to us, that quickly became a father figure in my eyes.
‘This is my friend, Daniel,’ Mum announced as a dark-haired man walked into our home.
‘Your mum had told me a lot about your both,’ he smiled, walking over to me and Alex.
And over time, with Daniel joining
