Review Tales - A Book Magazine For Indie Authors - 6th Edition (Spring 2023) - S. Jeyran Main

    EDITOR'S NOTES

We welcome Spring 2023 with open arms. The 6th edition of this magazine is filled with many delightful and insightful submissions. Mark Kinslow shares how his book was accidentally created without him ever thinking of becoming an author. Chris Tomasini confesses how liberating the writing experience has been.

We have interviewed some esteemed authors with tremendous potential and, with that, understand what it takes to be a writer. Character development, writer's block, writing quirks, and everything that matters in this industry are discussed in detail.

Above all, I am incredibly proud and delighted to see the support and togetherness this magazine has caused. What exists here and what we have accomplished is a beautiful team effort of those passionate and caring to keep such a platform alive.

I thank you all, and keep writing!

I acknowledge Thomas Tryon as another influence: Tryon's Crowned Heads and All That Glitters were collections of linked novellas about Hollywood actors and actresses with strong echoes of real stars. Soap-Stud & Blue-Movie Girl is two short novels yoked together. Soap-Stud charts the rise to TV  fame of Jason Howl, a hunky lifeguard from San Diego whose career takes off after footage from a nude scene is posted online. Blue-Movie Girl is the rise to infamy of Joylene Duchat, a mixed-race beauty from Arizona. The daughter of a televangelist, Joylene seduces one of her teachers at 14 and becomes the new Queen of Porn at 18, although she really yearns to be a serious actress.

The idea of a girl with serious acting talent and aspirations settling for a career in porno was inspired by Joan Crawford, although Joan, bless her, always insisted that those rumors weren't true. I'm unsure why I made Joylene
