Real Madrid CF UEFA Champions League - The History of the Greatest Dominance in European Football - Ary S. Jr.
PRESENTATION
Real Madrid is one of the most famous and successful football clubs in the world. Founded in 1902 as Madrid Foot-Ball Club, the club changed its name to Real Madrid Club de Fútbol in 1920, after being bestowed with the title Real
by King Alfonso XIII of Spain.
In the first years of its existence, Real Madrid was a relatively small club, with a fan base located mainly in the city of Madrid. However, during the 1950s, the club experienced a period of great success, winning five consecutive Spanish League titles between 1953 and 1957. The club also claimed the first of its fourteen UEFA Champions League victories in 1956, defeating the Stade de Reims in the final.
In the 1960s, Real Madrid continued to be a dominant force in European football, winning three more Champions League titles and six Spanish League titles. During this period, the club featured legendary players such as Francisco Gento, Ferenc Puskás and Alfredo Di Stéfano.
In the years since, Real Madrid has continued to be one of the most successful teams in European football, with additional UEFA Champions League successes in 1966, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022. The club has also won the Spanish League thirty-five times, as well as nineteen King's Cups and four Spanish Super Cups.
Real Madrid also has a great rivalry with Barcelona, with whom it disputes the classic El Clásico, one of the most watched and exciting games in the world of football. The rivalry between the two clubs is so intense that it is often described as being more than just a sporting competition, but rather a cultural and political battle between the regions of Madrid and Catalonia.
Today, Real Madrid is one of the most valuable and recognized football clubs in the world, with a global fan base and some of the world's most talented players in its squad. With a rich history and successful tradition, the club remains one of the most important and influential in the world of football.
