About this ebook

This book is my second volume of "45 Whimsical Short Stories". It includes 28 stories that I created that are entertaining, funny, interesting, and adventurous. My creation of these stories took over two years of imaginative thinking. I hope the reader will enjoy reading them.

Ashton Lackey (Harrington A. Lackey) has been a Spanish instructor, translator, tutor and writer for the past 30 years. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Anthropology from Eckerd College, a Master of Arts degree in Hispanic Literature from Auburn University, PhD candidate in Hispanic Literature at the University of Kentucky, and an Associate of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Nashville State Technical Institute. Ashton has taught Spanish classes at Auburn University, Louisiana State University, University of Kentucky, Columbia State Community College, and Belmont University. He started a successful tutoring business- "Learning Strategies," but is now retired.Ashton has completed 10 years of studying French from grammar school to high school. Also, he completed a semester of advanced French in Angers, France at the l’Université Catholique de l’Ouest.He has written three novels, based on historical fiction: "Rare Gold," "Disciple's Curse," and "The Admiral's Signature." He has also published over 150 articles on various subjects and short stories. Ashton is now retired and currently lives in Bluffton, SC with his wife, Diana, and one furry daughter.Ashton has translated over 10 novels from Spanish to English, ("La Celestina", "Lazarillo de Tormes") and from English to Spanish: ("The Healing Of Gala"). I have recently been translating into English: "La Primera Catedral", "Surreal (Y otros relatos), and "MainCastle: La leyenda del caballero blanco".His hobbies are: collecting coins, comic books, books and metal detecting.

    An Exciting Deserted Island

    A single young man in his 20’s named David Washup is on vacation sailing south of the Caribbean Islands on a cruise line As he is talking to other passengers, an enormous wave hits the other side of the ship. David falls out of a cruise line and ends up in the ocean, yelling for help, but the ship doesn’t stop for him. David keeps his head above water and swims five miles of an unknown uninhabited island, south of the Caribbean Islands.

    He decides to swim there. But after swimming for two hours, he washes ashore and lays there until he feels energetic enough to move around and sit up.

    When he raises his head, he sees a short old man with brown skin wearing very little except a loincloth over his crotch and carrying a spear made of bamboo.

    The castaway tries to talk to the chief of a tribe on the island. Hello?

    Mmmm!...Speak…English?

    Yes!...Do..you..understand…me? the castaway asks him slowly.

    Me…speak…it…Yes.

    The chief helps David to his feet and helps him walk. At first, David’s clothes were drenched, but the hot sun dries them until they enter a large area with primitive thatched huts. David rests on the sandy floor of the village, and immediately falls asleep.

    When he wakes up, he sees the chief staring at him concerned.

    The chief points to himself and says, Me…’Woobani’.

    David points to himself and says, Me…’David’.

    A few minutes pass and David tries to stand up, but he hears young women giggling in the distance, getting closer to the huts. Over twenty young pretty women in their twenties who were scantily dressed surrounded David and began touching him as if they had never seen a man before. David was slightly nervous but
