About this ebook

The reason for writing this book. It is on the basis of the word of God which is forever settled in heaven (Ps. 119:89). The Holy Spirit inspires it. The prophecy never came by the will of man, but Holy men of God spoke as the Holy Spirit moved them Ps 1:20-21. In this present era, the heart of men is failing them for fear. It is alarming how th

    PREFACE

    The Bible’s definitions of fear include entries such as: Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy one is understanding (Pro. 9:10). The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom and before honor is humility (Pro.15:33). There is no fear in love but perfect love cast out fear because fear has punishment first (John 4:1).

    Fear is the basic instinct of every living thing. An animal without fear will probably become some predator’s dinner. Fear is a natural response whenever physical safety and even psychological well-being of a being are threatened. Rational fears are learned and vital for our survival.

    The difference between anxiety and fear is that anxiety lacks an object or adequate cause. People are anxious because they are uncertain about a specific outcome or don’t know what is going to happen in the future. It is imperative to distinguish between temporary anxiety and an anxious trait that continues on and on.

    There are various types of fears:

    A fear of crowds, claustrophobia;

    Fear of heights, acrophobia;

    Fear of spiders, arachnophobia.

    These can lead to a panic attack in certain persons. There are also:

    Fear of God, reverential fear, to obey and honor God;

    Fear of man, that possessed by man pleasers;

    Fear of death;

    Fear of failure.

    Chapter 1:

    FAITH VERSUS FEAR

    WHAT IS FAITH?

    FAITH: Belief in or confident attitude towards God, involving commitment to His will for one’s life – that’s true! FAITH is confidence in God or Christ, not in oneself.

    FAITH is part of the Christian life from beginning to end. As the instrument by which the gift of salvation is received (Eph.2:8-9), faith is thus distinct
