American Stories: A collection of illustrated poems
By Jon Fielding
()
About this ebook
American Stories is a series of short poems about life in a changing America.
Melancholic stories, sketched out over wandering feelings of despair and longing, meandering through a deep changing political and social landscape.
Capturing themes from key moments in contemporary American culture, alongside stories of frustration and despair, inspired by more recent events. The selection of poems within explores feelings drawn out in everyday America, from a nation at times left in despair, let down by so-called leaders, and left uncertain about its future, with many questioning its place in the world today.
We hope and we pray in the American way. It’s only poetry they say…

Dedication
‘Framed emotions of a nation in view, wandering through a political stew, stories wrapped up with feelings so true.
Please wander through these pages, persevere, a selection of short stories, capturing feelings laid bare, in poetry form we dare.’
For Sarah; you bring out the best in me and challenge me to be the best I can be. I hope in some ways, for you, I am.

Writing this, my second published collection of poetry, was harder than I expected but more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. None of this would have been possible without the support of my best friend and partner, Sarah, encouraging me throughout and illuminating this writing journey.
Thanks to everyone in the Austin Macauley, New York team, who helped me put this manuscript together from content to cover, a few times over.
