Beginning/Searching
Searching
I traipsed along the petals
Silky and cool beneath my feet
My heart alive and racing
A continuous melodic beat
Eyes new and fresh to see just once
Searching, hoping to connect and meet
A voice so tender, so quiet, so pure
Resonating and tasting every treat.
Pulling Back
Toes in the sand with their delicate pink
Skin so soft and to my mind it does link
Smell so new, the powder so clean
Limbs so thin and lanky and lean
The eyes how they stare so blankly but they know
Of a past fulfilled before and below
Advanced to the light to begin again
Slowly but steadily after much strain
A brief reconnoitre, a small somnolence
Tomorrow has begun a fractured dance.
Walnut Street
A home many times and once my dwelling
Your history so long and the walls are telling
High above the cornices are rusted
Painted now cream, tinged and crusted
Built in a century almost new
Still erect now and the stories just grew
Long narrow hall, ceilings so high
Number nine when I was so shy
Kitchen long and narrow too
Cupboards orange and green chairs few
Galley style at the rear where Mum cooked
Sandwiched together many little nooks
Bungalow and sheds many buildings out
With us some storage and kennels about
A pool, some trees, a sandpit too
Seemed so big back then it was true
Some time before it told a tale
Another family another trail
And what was once my room, my space
Another life once worn did trace
A girl quite fair and freckled upon
Who danced and came in when the sun had gone
She traced the patterns the carpet displayed
The grey background and flowers with pink shades
The facade today has not aged
Paint has all blistered and time has it caged
Inside I wander and see it past
Today is it just memories or is it captured at last?
Sepia
Stained in several places of mess
Tight ’round the armpits an unsightly dress
Worn before and describing a tale
Scent of must, fire and ale
Hair unkempt a locked in mass
Scrawny, forgotten, undersized little lass
In the corner, not even there
She is forgotten, old…long ago…where?
New Relationship
She was a soft small pearl and he was night
Two marbles within a jar that was so right
Essence pure and of rebirth
He was coal and of the Earth
One the wisdom of many years
Another yet to cry her tears
Day and night however were risen by the tide
Relationship grew and was scribed
High and low, the tides beneath
The start
